Well, it did get the kids off the street
Fan in Chicago replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
Totally concur. I did buy a cul-de-sac house for the same reason and am really happy that March-October my kids are out a lot. I rather they hang out with their friends on the block than some place I don't know about. In any case, even if you are unhappy about too many kids around your house & don't want to move, shut the windows and/or close the blinds. Piping porno sounds to the street is idiotic besides being weird. I think he will find that his sudden loss of neighborly love would be worse than the irritation he had with a bunch of kids playing outside. -
I have come to the conclusion that PCs owned by Mac lovers crash much more frequently than those owned by others. I have only owned PCs and cannot relate to all these stories about the OS 'crashing frequently'. I use Windows XP on my office computer, Vista on our main home computer and XP on our second home computer. Besides the fact that I hate Vista for its complexity, I have one of the three computers crash maybe once every 6 months. That is not too bad and certainly does not justify the price difference to go to a Mac. Heck, if my PCs crashed anywhere close to once a week, I would be in the market for an alternative. For that matter, most consumers might. The instability and clunkiness plus the customizability of Firefox led me away from IE and I have been very happy using Firefox on a PC. The PC ads are spot on - a majority of home consumers can get a PC with the features they need for far less than the cost of a Mac. I considered it during my last purchase and a full fledged desktop with LCD monitor was less expensive than a frigging Mac Mini. Beat up Microsoft for everything from reducing competition to slow innovation but one thing you cannot take away from them is their ability to bring the PC to the average home user and proliferate the computer as a necessary device.

I don't think any team is 'America's team'. Meaningless title and insulting to the other franchises which are as American as they come. -

Is it just me or do their answers sound mature and confident ? -
Me too. I have used the service about 5-6 times and have managed to sell the stuff within a week tops. This included a small breakfast table & 4 chairs, a sofa set, a projector, washing machine etc. (among others) You have to watch out for the responders who claim they are from out of town and want you to mail the stuff you are selling.

103rd Floor Glass Balcony On The Sears Tower
Fan in Chicago replied to H2o's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I work about 2-3 blocks from Sears Tower and those glass cubes look flimsy from my thirteenth floor (yea I know) window. I do want to go on them but even thinking about stepping in a virtual void makes me light headed. Got to say, great marketing idea ! -

Another Should Prostitution Be Legal Thread.
Fan in Chicago replied to Steely Dan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I am supporting prostitution with governing laws because (1) I see nothing wrong in people making decisions about their own body. (2) that items such as exploitation and under-age prostitution are prevented. -

Yeah, he is injured and that too before he signed with the Bills. -
First car was a 1987 Corolla LE that I bought in 1991 from a dealer near Orchard Park. Plain ole thing but to me, buying a car with my own money from a first job was coolness personified.

Visiting Buffalo after 13 years

Sorry for the bump guys, but it appears that the stars are aligning for me such that the training camp in Pittsford will be right smack in the middle of my trip! I am ecstatic. I will try to get tickets for July 26th afternoon practice and would love to meet some of you guys there. BTW, we ended up making reservations for the Extended Stay America in Amherst. -
Time will be the top metric IMHO.

I have a couple of friends who went that route and got so burnt out by the trainers that they stopped going once the paid-up period was done. Like a diet, it has to be something that you can sustain forever.

Great question, actually. What got me moving was my doctor saying that I need to go on maintenance medication to get my triglycerides down - at age 39. That drove me nuts and I decided to take a 3 month membership. Never looked back and gradually increased from 3 days/week to 5 days/week. Whatever gets you motivated to start is great. I agree with Stl Bills - once you get over that initial hump, you will cruise. Tackle any potential mental excuses early on so they don't bother you in the long run. Remember, this is not a 1 week or 1 month deal - this is how you will want to lead the rest of your life. I used to think I am too tired to workout in the evenings after dinner. That turned out to be a BS excuse. I usually go between 8-8:30 pm and sometimes finish when they close at 10 pm. No tiredness, no nothing. If you are a morning person (which I am most definitely not), then workout in the morning before going to work. If late evenings is not possible, go to gym first before going home. There is not set prescription or timing - I emphasize do what works for you.

This topic is definitely NOT gay. I workout with two primary goals - cardio to keep my weight & cholesterol down and strength training to just keep my body in shape. I have been working out for the last 3 years and before that I defined the word lazy. In this time, I have lost about 4 inches off my waist and about 10-14 pounds (less fat and more muscle which is denser so net weight loss is not very significant). Toughest area for me is the gut as I still don't have the flat tummy I am looking for. But I am far far away from where I was before in a good way. As for supplements, I take a 100% whey protein shake on the days I do strength training. Perhaps it is not enough, but have increased chicken and egg white consumption slightly compared to before. If you do lot of cardio (I do about 3 and half hours on elliptical every week), I suggest adding calcium also to keep the joints problem free. Do what works for you and don't force yourself into something people say 'must be done'. The key is to be consistent and intense to the point that you are sweating/panting/sore by the time you leave the gym. Set weekly targets for yourself which are moderate and meet/exceed them no matter what. It is amazing how much you can get done while still keeping up with your daily obligations. Over time, you will figure out how much you can handle on a weekly basis. Again, keep at it. Meet your targets, say Sunday -Saturday and repeat and repeat .... Good luck and don't give up - after a while working out becomes a part of your life you cannot do without.

Recall of hand sanatizers and skin protectants
Fan in Chicago replied to stuckincincy's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Besides the fact that they were manufactured under poor conditions, it really didn't have any anti-bacterial properties in the first place, right ? Like a spermicide that contains semen ? So they should also be accused of false advertising or incorrect claims about their products. P.S. stuckincincy, you should fix the spellings in your post heading
