Terrence McGee and Bills discussing
Fan in Chicago replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this is good news and hope the deal gets done for a reasonable amount of $$. For the record, I think Youboty will be released. -
Official Trent Edwards Excuse Thread...

Meh, not sure our D is the big problem. Granted last year they could not get the other team off the field fast enough but considering the frequency with which the O was putting our D back on the field I think they did respectably. They were hurt big time with Schobel's absence. I think this year we should be a lot better with AS back and the possibility of Maybin turning out to be a good situational pass rusher (for this year). Our backfield is set and stacked - no worries there especially with Whitner's move and Corner looking promising. Ellison is a weak spot and I am not sure if Nic Harris can grow to replace him. But the main question marks are one LB and one DE position each. Which is a whole lot better than the multiple doubts we have on the offensive side of ball. -
Please - be honest with what '09 will be...

Only if ineffective. The no huddle will not increase the time the D is on the field if it is able to sustain drives. Problem is if we are terrible on O, the 3 and outs are more hurtful if you are in no huddle mode. To do well in the no huddle, besides the QB's ability to correctly call the plays, the personnel on the field need to be versatile. The RB has to be able to block during the pass plays and in case of blitzes. The OL has to be universally good in pass and rush blocking. The TE has to be able to block and perhaps be a bit of a FB during rushing downs. Thus, more than the concept, I am concerned about the ability of our current personnel to pull of a successful no huddle attack (or lack thereof). -
You really think so ? I agree that as a team, there is little to no correlation between preseason & regular season records. But for players it is quite different. The training camp and preseason games allow coaches to evaluate players. If they really suck in preseason, they will be bumped down on the depth chart. I think the preseason games are a great chance for players to show what they can do individually. While we may not scheme on offense and defense, that does not stop, say, a WR from getting open consistently or making some tough grabs. For a QB, especially TE, this would be the time to try out the medium to long passes and work on his timing and accuracy for bombs. We cannot take the example of one Rob Johnson and expect an extrapolation to a majority of other players.

Except that other guy had a 2 cent brain who only looked for the long ball whereas the current one has poise -
We just can't seem to get any respect. TSN article "....the Buffalo brain trust must think an awful lot of Owens' abilities, because there still appear to be too many gaping holes on this roster to suggest the Bills have gotten any closer to the Patriots, or even the defending division champion Dolphins, in the AFC East."

Cowher should be a realistic option for Bills
Fan in Chicago replied to Pitta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have come to agree with Simon's point of view on Cowher - that he is an idiot. I feel that Gruden is much over-rated and is a divisive personality in addition to that. If we had to choose between available ex-HCs, I would like to get Schottenheimer. Now, I have gone on record as saying he is not likely to take the team to a SB victory with his history of losing in the playoffs. But, would be a better choice than Cowher or Gruden. Getting another coordinator is fraught with risk which we have a history of not managing very well. -
And we were bad against the Pack. Don't think we can draw too many conclusions or satisfaction from the Jets poor performance yesterday.

For the life of me I can't remember which Bills player guaranteed that we will make the playoffs last year. -

Actually Inglourious is 'mis-spelt' too. -
Cut Kelsay, keep Ellis and Bryan PLEASE!!
Fan in Chicago replied to kbuckley9091's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Maybin, Ellis and Bryan play well in the regular season, I am sure Kelsay will be gone next year but not this year. Not when we have so much un-proven talent after Schobel/Denney -
Why fans and media shouldn't assign sacks allowed

I would care a whole lot more if the scramblerer was a Bills player. -

Fan in Chicago replied to TimGraham's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So what is your point ? That the counter indicators out-weigh the indicators ? In any case, TG really isn't stating anything conclusive (wimp !) - just saying that there is more to the stat line when it comes to sacks allowed. -
And the fact that it is one position we do not need help in.

I whole heartedly second that. As good as Pitt was, I think Waltz stole the show with his fantastic job as Landa. I literally felt squeamish every time he started questioning somebody. That first scene on the French farm set his character beautifully and every subsequent sequence involving him just built up his performance. Don't get me wrong, I loved Pitt's acting and especially his dialog delivery (and yes, I think his performance in Burn After Reading was a fabulous and under appreciated) but Waltz was better in this movie. -
Why fans and media shouldn't assign sacks allowed
Fan in Chicago replied to TimGraham's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can buy the logic that one lineman by himself may not always be responsible for a sack allowed. But then I think the converse should be true also. If the year before, Peters was credited for allowing a low number of sacks, isn't it entirely likely that it was due to help by, say, the LG or a TE assisting on the play ? It can't be both ways - if he cannot be blamed fully/always for the sacks allowed from rushers on the left side, he should not get full credit for allowing a low number of sacks either. Am I missing something here ? -
I think our member ranking needs updating...

Not sure this is possible but I would suggest adding categories of IR/PUP to those that have marginally violated the terms of contract and are put on probation for a while (can read but cannot post). Mods and Admins would have rights to place such members on this list -
Do you seriously wait for company to see a movie ? I freed myself from those mental shackles a long time back. Now, if I want to see a movie, I go see it. Given my choice in movies, I am happier that way so I don't have to conform to someone else's opinion and can enjoy or hate a movie with freedom. Try going alone - you may like it.
