hissy fit with bruschi and ocho
Fan in Chicago replied to brenty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is the philosophical hypocrisy that I am pointing out. Do we agree with Ochocinco's tweet or not ? And if we do, then disagree with Bruschi but his rant and him as an ex-Pat* has nothing to do with it. If you don't, then why rail on Bruschi. Make no mistake, I am no Bruschi fan. In fact far from it but that does not mean I will disagree with him no matter what he does or says. -
hissy fit with bruschi and ocho

So when Whitner used to go on twitter, he was chastised for too much tweeting and too little production. But when the superstar, under-performer Ochocinco does pretty much the same thing, you guys are going after the media person who called him out for that ? -

23-16 Bills win with a last minute Raider drive thwarted by a spirited defense -
Hang on - back to the original point. If Evans was not going deep or getting open due to a possible injury, why would he have been the difference maker in the Ravens-Steelers rivalry ? If his reputation caused the Steelers to shift coverage preferentially towards him, then if injured, the Steelers would have seen it and changed coverage. So if Simon's analysis is correct, then he could not have been playing hurt.

And that is because yet another thread has degenerated into a Evans suck/Evans is God thread when that was not the point of the OP anyway.

Which part of 47.7% do you not understand ?

Dude, I am not sure you are baiting with your usual eclectically humorous posts but here is one way to look at it. Week 1: 16 winners, 16 losers 52% of winners go to playoffs = 16*0.52 = 8 teams 23% of losers go to playoffs = 16*0.23 = 4 teams total 12 teams that make playoffs. There aren't any missing teams or percentages.

First of all - I did not watch that game so am taking your observations at face value. As someone else pointed out, Evans has to start making catches else his credibility as a viable catching threat will go away and the advantage will be neutralized. Secondly, I wonder how the Steelers will now react in the second game and try to account for his presence. It will certainly be fascinating to see the defensive game plan for the next meeting. If the same advantage differential exists, I would hand it to Evans and the other receivers on the Ravens. Now for the comparison between his presence on the Ravens versus imagination of him being still a Bill. I think he fits the Ravens offense better at this point in time as they have the variety of receiving weapons and a more mature/talented OL which allows Flacco the luxury to take advantage of said weapons. Next year, I would not be surprised to see the Bills invest high picks on a WR (esp considering the latest Easley situation/possible fiasco) and OL which will finally allow the overall offense to blossom into a multi-dimensional one. Good thread !

I would vote for Ravens over Titans or Packers over Panthers

Sure, go ahead and blame marketing. Second to lawyers they are everybody's favorite whipping boy. Let me ask you this - forget Sam for a moment, would you have expected OJ Spiller to score his first TD in yesterday's game ?

A Few Thoughts About The Game
Fan in Chicago replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice post. Good to see you happy if just for a week. I missed most of the first half but from there on out was observing that: - This was a very disciplined performance in all aspects. The stat sheet shows 5-30 and that is not too bad considering the amount of time we had the ball - FJ is really really good. He set the tone and established the credibility of the run threat. That was very important considering we were going into a raucous stadium - I wouldn't yet consider the OL problem solved but this was a solid performance. - Troup and Easley were out and they can only make this team better Lets hope for no injuries and have a heck of a season -
Ya, we remember ya big cheesehead Welcome back and thanks. Good to see your team opening the season in such fine form also. While the Pack is continuing their success, the Bills are just learning to win. Hope both teams continue to pound their opponents.

We cant measure the team by this game. After all, Cassel is playing hurt and that team really is not good. Next week, these pretenders will come down to earth -

I am not against complaining and dont expect everyone to be blind fanboys and homers. But what grates is the constant harping on the same topics and turning of every argument in the same direction. Atleast come up with points of view on different topics. Not every thread has to be turned into a 'FO sucks', 'RW is cheap' and 'we should draft linemen'. This is football and there is so much else to talk about - both positively and negatively. And this was not directed just at you, Bill (apart from the sneaky reference to linemen above ). -

IMHO, with a talent like PM at the helm, the Colts should have won more SBs. -

Not sure if that was sarcasm, but I am serious with the same thought. The Colts team has masked a lot of deficiencies with PM's play. An excellent GM would have built a better overall team to the point that one player does not control the fortune of the franchise. At this point, we don't know how the Colts will play if PM does not return this year. But, it is a good test of Polian's team-building prowess. We will see - I think he was an excellent selector of talent but PM's success lulled him into a false sense of (over) confidence. -

I am speculating here - Buddy probably benchmarks the player, identifies the next best and next worst alternatives from a skills perspective. Overdorf looks at the salaries of these comparaables and sets a range of compensation for the contract. Then he negotiates with the agent. -

I think we should ignore his article and keep this thread very short. He gets off on the attention he garners by writing provocative statements and articles. Needless to say, there is no depth, insight or research in this article -

Agree on the first two points. But if they are close to agreeing on a deal which pays him between a #1 and #2 WR, I think Buddy will hedge his bets and go for it. Alternately, an incentive laden contract would be a possibility -
I wouldn't mind that one bit 20-16 Bills win
