True enough. Between the rumors, whispers, nevergiveup and you, I gather that the Bills had Barron, Kuechly and Gilmore rated high. And in the previous draft, they would have been happy with Newton, Von Miller and Dareus. So, it will be interesting to watch their careers. To a certain extent, the team they land in, their coaching and other players determine success, but in general cream rises to the top. On the flip side, it will also be interesting to watch how the QBs we passed on in the last two drafts fare. I was of the opinion that we should have drafted one in the top 2 rounds in 2011 or 2012. The fact that we passed on a few implies that the FO had not pegged them high at our pick spot. Will be highly interesting to see if those were the right decisions.

Seeing is bill-ieving - reality check
Fan in Chicago replied to SouthernMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True enough, Chymp BTW, why has this thread been resurrected ? Not that there was some great revelation or prognostication that has now been proven true. Probably just another miserable person looking for his daily dose of depression -
Good to hear the TC reports. Next best thing to actually being there. Easley and TJ hold the keys to the offense's success this year so i hope one or both of them emerge as a legitimate #2. And oh yeah, good luck for Wednesday night. Good for you

Just messing with you, sir. Considering it is having an opposite effect, maybe you should try taking some allergens instead ? -

Dark Knight Rises - Midnight Screening Roll-Call

TDKR was one hell of a movie. Very very good. At the risk of being called blasphemous, I did not like Inception and thought TDK was a bit too glum and serious to be a superhero movie. While I appreciate the darker movies, we need some fun included also. In the effort to make such movies more than comic-book adaptations, Nolan kinda went too much to the other other side in TDK. However, this movie brings it all back - a perfect blend of action, social commentary, superhero-ism etc. Absolutely loved it. All the actors did a stupendous job also and I liked how he had one fleeting shot of Tom Hardy pre-Bane to show people who the actor is. The last 30 minutes is pure masterful film making. -
RGIII signs 4 year deal
Fan in Chicago replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Their third round pick is also unsigned. Also at the bottom of that article "Fourteen of the 32 first-round draft choices, including top overall pick Andrew Luck, and 12 of the 32 third-round selections remain unsigned.". I thought signing first rounders was supposed to be simplified now. I am so glad the Bills are not faced with this problem (even though I realize that TC hasn't begun yet so it isn't a huge issue for those other teams). -
As far as instincts are concerned I think McK is pretty bad. He has gotten by more on his sthletic abilities than the intangibles any good CB needs. I concede he has done more than Maybin but that is not due to instincts. Four years in this league and we are still waiting for him to justify his high draft status
-
The extra weight will slow him down. Which means he can now blow by a quarterback a tad less fast than before. Much like McKelvin, the dude doesn't have it up there to play football. He should have been at most a third round pick and a project for some team.

This team is a tackle short of being primed for the no huddle offense. The ill advised foray into the no huddle a few years back was moronic at best. But if Glenn holds the fort as a LT, we will have a smart center, a quick decision making QB, versatile RBs (FJax and to a certain extent Spiller can block, run and catch) and young receivers (won't tire of the fast offense). I believe that if the OL can hold their blocks, we will start seeing much more of this as the season wears along. BTW, a friendly note - you should not be cutting and pasting entire articles into your post. Simply a link with key highlights is appropriate

Michael Floyd called out by Larry Fitzgerald
Fan in Chicago replied to OldTimer1960's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just a rookie and he already needs to be motivated ? There are countless instances of lazy athletes who never amounted to much in the NFL despite their natural talents. If an athlete is on a losing team for several years, I can understand needing some motivation. But Floyd was drafted high, comes with high expectations and will be paid more money that he has ever seen in his life. What further motivation is needed ? Granted it is way too early to make any judgment about his talent and dedication level. But when a respected and highly successful veteran calls you out, it is not a good sign especially this early in his career. Even the Bills are having similar sessions for the rookies and from what I understand so far, everyone is in attendance. There is also some indication that TJ signed in time for the first day of the rookie activities. Even though Floyd may hide under the 'its not mandatory' cover, wouldn't you want your top pick to take every opportunity to soak up the playbook and nuances of the game ? -
Nice.

Who is the most indispesable player on defense ?
Fan in Chicago replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think most of the replies here are missing the point of the article. The questions posed is not who is the best player on defense but the most indispensable. And Brown picks Wilson because he has the least depth behind him and hence it is critical that he plays well and without injury. -
Add me to that list. The guy is very very good but his arrogance stopped me for ever rooting for him. I also believe (probably have said this before) that he took advantage of a lull in men's tennis post-Sampras to pile on major titles before the likes of Nadal and Djokovich stood up to him and started beating up on him. That said, winning a major at age 30 is no mean achievement and he did beat the (then) #1 on the road to the championship. Murray showed some promising signs but still looks vulnerable in the big points. I have always complained that his major failing is his passive playing style and lack of killer instinct that stops him from hammering the opponent in the big points. Lendl seems to be helping him with those aspects but he has to really take a huge step to get past the big 3. And by the way, Lendl still doesn't have a Wimbledon even as a coach
-
I am pretty sure pushing a police officer would be on that list too

The last bastion of American tennis continues her battle - Serena Williams on the verge of another Wimbledon final. I have disliked her uncouth attitude in the past but got to say, I will be rooting hard for her just 'cos she is an American and represents the bygone era of dominating women tennis players

Three years back, I was visiting the Buffalo area and attended one of the practices (Rosen was kind enough to pick up and mail me a ticket). I ended up on one corner of the field where players did not come by at the end. However, Stevie and McIntyre did and I have a mini-poster from that camp with both their autographs. I remember wishing Stevie good luck and hoping he made it big. Little did I know at the time that indeed he would. Is she hot ?

I can't wait for DKR as I am particularly interested in finding out how Nolan ends his run of Batman. I am not going to compare it to TDK and see if this one stands on its own merits. Savages looks interesting esp due to the cast and Stone's direction. OTOH, I just am unable to get excited about The Amazing Spiderman. For starters, I think it is too early for a re-boot. Secondly, reports are that it is heavy on the teen-angst angle. Maybe its just me, but I want my superhero movies to be filled with action and bad guys to go along with the human stories. I don't want a teen soap opera interspersed with 2 minutes of skyscraper-swinging. Perhaps I may go check it out if I have nothing better to do but for now, color me uninterested.

Women's tennis is in a terrible place right now. Bunch of model-wannabes with flittering dedication to the craft. It is ripe for a couple of super-motivated women to step in and dominate the sport. Every sport needs some good rivalries to make it interesting. Men's tennis is going through one of the best eras where women's is the opposite.

Ain't gonna happen with Tsonga. History has shown that if a player hasn't shown significant progress in the majors by the very early 20s, it is impossible to break through to the top. Pretty much all players who took residence on the top 4 floors of men's tennis had either reached a major semi finals or finals by that age. Tsonga is not going to do anything in the next two years, especially not with a younger Djoko and (about same aged) Nadal playing as they are right now.

And yet another perfectly fine sports thread drowns in a sea of testesterone

Seeing as there are 14 votes for McK, I fully agree
