Article about BlackBerrys LOL
Fan in Chicago replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
FWIW - Both my teenage daughters use Blackberry's and still appreciate the full keyboard for the amount of texting they do. They also use twitter, fb pretty extensively and I haven't heard any complaints. -
ESPN: Mike Holmgren leaving Browns
Fan in Chicago replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure if he will accept the downgrade, but I wouldn't mind having him as an OC and have Gailey concentrate on HC -
So you would be okay with us at 2-4 or lower ? We have looked terrible against the Jets and Pats* but that doesn't mean our record doesn't matter. The positive way to look at it is that despite pathetic performances in 3 games, we still have the same record as the 'dominant' Pats*

I second that.

Choice calls out team after SF loss
Fan in Chicago replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What frustrates me is that these are players, most making multiple million dollars to come and play their heart out each and every Sunday. They should not require the proverbial fire under their rears to be lit by someone else. I can understand a couple of players having down days but te large majority of players needing to be 'fired up' by speeches ? Come on ! If it is lack of motivation and a general lack of desire to win, it has to come from the coaches. It is quite telling that several players, especially on D, who have performed well in the past happen to suddenly suck or are out of position. Something deeply is wrong with this team. -
You are obviously quite upset as am I. If it helps, here is a bit of hope. Since about the time Ben Roethlisberger was drafted, the concept of babying your newly drafted QB seems to have gone out the window. High picks and even a third rounder such as Russell Wilson start in their rookie season and achieve moderate success. Ben R took a ready Steelers team to the playoffs, Cam Newton had a terrific rookie season, RG III and Luck both seem to be on the right path and not being a liability to their teams. Yes, you can point to a Gabbert and feel hopeless but I think there is more evidence in favor of a successful rookie QB than not. I said in an earlier post that Nix should have drafted a QB last year but it is not quite as hopeless for next season unless he gets too cute and sticks stubbornly to his BPA policy to draft some other position. I think even if there is not a QB who could be considered a BPA, Nix should do a mini 'reach' and pick the QB.

If I remember correctly, the comeback game was blacked out right ? (Not trying to be an a$$, just a genuine question)

QB's we can make a play 4, Other than Draft
Fan in Chicago replied to NastyNateSoldiers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about Jimmy Clausen ? Tho' I would tend to agree with others over here and draft our own bust QB -
I disagree that Nix can be absolved of blame. He is the GM, he has scouts working for him and is supposed to be a football guy. It is is his job to judge talent and do whats best for the team in the long run. He failed on all accounts by not upgrading the QB position and believing Fitz is an adequate stop gap. I made your latter point (2011 draft was the PERFECT one to get a QB) before and after last year's draft for the reasons you stated. Team building has to be put in perspective of the long run - not necessarily just your current needs. Drafting one in 2011 would have been the right decision no matter how Fitz developed. I agree entirely with all your above points.

Is Stephon Gilmore a potential BUST?
Fan in Chicago replied to Buffalo 66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, you self-admitedly "have not watched a lot of him this year" yet you can make all these assertions regarding his play. You say "he looks clueless out there" without actually seeing him ? ooookkkk You mean like Kyle WIlliams, Stevie Johnson or Fred Jackson or are you referring to the field stretcher Lee Evans or perhaps the cog of the LB core Poz ? -
We knew the Bills would lose @9ers in April
Fan in Chicago replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1200 yards given up by the D in two games, 97 points against. Let that sink in for a minute. Then tell me there is not enough reason for the outrage. The D is not good enough to make the thread for NFL's doormat. -
No matter what I think of the premise of this post (i.e. sports are rigged) or of the Bills chances of making the playoffs, this is a very very fun thread. The Bills suck, bad. I get it and have a thousand posts that look at every minutiae and come to the same conclusion. This thread, OTOH, offers a different look and a different discussion.

I really wonder what the root of the problems are. I thought George Edwards was in over his head and wanted him replaced. I was happy to see DaveW get the job as his previous track record as DC is pretty good. He has decent talent to use yet we see this embarassment of a D on the field ? Not sure what is going on but it is very very bad. We have gone through some low points over the last decade or so but I can't recall feeling so short of hope.

At this point, this score is NOT on Fitz. Except for that wrong pass to TJ, Fitz has been doing well. our D is getting their rears kicked at the line of scrimmage and then deep -

I agree on the D scheme part. It is maddening to see how the Pats* adjusted on O in the second half and we just could not do anything to stop them. You don't need a half time to make adjustments. Seeing as they were running between the tackles for huge chunks of yards should have indicated that we need Shep, Moats etc in there. The Pats* counter punched us and Wanny failed to respond. His stubbornness coupled with the total lack of push from Mario W allowed the Pats* to kick us all over the field. So far, I have been an apologist for the D and kept saying that it will take time for the scheme to come together and be effective. But no scheme with so much talent should allow the total disaster we witnessed. I cannot blame the O this time too much. Despite the turnovers in the first half, they looked competent and scored decently. With a sub-average QB and inadequate WR corps, we should not have to lean on the O to carry the load. The Browns game was the perfect example of how we can win - solid D with a slightly above average O. This O cannot keep up with the likes of the Pats* yet. The D's repeated inability to stop them put the O in a hole which it was unable to dig itself out of. One point which bears mentioning is that it was apparent that both CJ and FJax did not appear to be even 90%. While playing them was fine, I thought Choice should have been given way more touches. After all, he did well in relief in the last game. So put Spiller and FJax, but balance the running attack by using the fully healthy Choice and perhaps CMac for the goal line situation. It is weird why Gailey did not try the healthy RBs. All in all, quite an incompetent performance. As good as the first half was, the second half's debacle is mostly on the coaches.
