A lowly draft pick, fought to be the #1 WR on the team. Posts back to back 1000 yard seasons and about to make it three in a row. All the time with a less than stellar QB and while being part of team with inconsistent offensive philosophy. Toned down his attitude this year and been nothing but a team player. Yes, I root for him and wish him the best. I care and so should every Bills fan.

Fitz is retiring?

This is what I am wondering. Are Nix and Gailey on the same page wrt: QBs ? Vince Young was acquired and he could not grasp Gailey's offense. Why should this have been a surprise ? There was enough body of work to show that he got by on athletic skills and not on gray matter, which Gailey's offense requires. Then why go through the trouble of getting a guy who was never activated ? Did Nix like him but Gailey refused to play him ? Both possibilities point towards a disconnect. Either way, I have also come around to the opinion that is JOhnC' s original point - Nix has failed as a GM. Even if we accept the disconnect hypothesis, Nix is the one who hired him. So it comes around full circle. Frustrated with every new regime touting patience.

An accurate QB, a true #2 WR opposite him, David Nelson and Chandler. That O would be truly terrific to watch.

Trading for Alex Smith has been discussed a lot in this thread: http://forums.twobil...th/page__st__60 (my support for this idea is also in that thread). It is something worth considering whether or not Gailey is retained. But not as the long term answer - for the next 3 years or so before we draft for a true 'franchise' QB and he is ready to take over.

Norv as OC. Rex Ryan as DC but not if that means a switch back to the 3-4. I would support both. But still torn regarding HC. I don't want a re-tread and would like a fresh face who would re-energize the franchise. Someone in the John Harbaugh mold.

Just for arguments sake, lets say Cousins does light it up. As others have pointed out, it will be just one game. Way too much has to happen before concluding that he was a gem from the lower rounds. Oh and note that the Redskins FO is in far greater danger of looking stupid (trading all those picks for RGIII) than Nix. All such speculation before Cousins has even started a game yet.

Not sure of the inner workings but I think it is Nix's job to get the talent and Gailey's to utilize it (or not, as in this case).

IMHO, that 'time' was 2 years back or at worst 1 year back. Now Nix is just playing catch up from way behind.

I do think we will add a WR in the off-season. How will be dependent on how we handle the QB situation. (full speculation from here on out). If we sign, say, an Alex Smith we should go WR and LB in the first two rounds. I wouldn't be surprised if we land a DE if a good one is available. If the FO believes there is a QB they want in the upcoming draft, then they may fill the WR needs through FA. But truth be told, no one from the list jumps out at you as being exceedingly superior to what we have. Some may have raw skills but little in terms of the full package of performance, selflessness etc

I cannot see anywhere in that article that he wants out. Ofcourse a player is going to balance many factors. His quotes seem pretty neutral and like someone in the midst or cusp of a negotiation. Nothing more, nothing less

Schaub seems to be rattled. He had chances many times in the last few minutes of the first half and couldn't take advantage.

Shyamalan used to be one of my favorite directors especially after Unbreakable. My patience wore out long ago - he needs to step up big time to buy my fandom again. As for the trailer - sorry but it doesn't do anything for me.

I don't want to hijack your thread into another Fitz discussion (but am about to do that anyway). Your point about expectations going up is indeed correct. Rewind to the time when Trent Edwards was checking down, telegraphing plays and generally being a scared cat. People were ecstatic when he was let go and Fitz was named the starter. Then Fitz started doing better than Trent, fans adjusted and started magnifying his flaws. Fitz was always spotty and streaky - nothing has changed significantly regarding his skills. Only change in the past few games is Gailey taking some of his autonomy away. Point of the above diatribe is that - if we are to upgrade the QB position, it better be a significant upgrade and not an incremental one. Else we will be sitting here 1-2 years later and saying how the new shiny toy sucks because he doesnt measure up to Luck, RGIII etc.

Must take some spherical objects to make such a change a few weeks before the playoffs. Havent' followed the Ravens closely enough to know whether this a correct decision. Can Caldwell just slide in? Very interesting for the playoffs.
