Bills to let David Nelson walk?
Fan in Chicago replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. Also consider that there are too many needs rifht now. Letting Nelson walk will make an already gaping hole wider. I hear that the O philosophy is different but he has good hands and I venture to think he can do adequately under a diffrebt playbook also. I wonder if this has something to do with his injury. Jones, I said good riddance bit Nelson I would like to keep for at least one season to see how he performs in the new O and presumably a different Aplayer throwing to him. Note- editing on a mobile phone sucks -
Fitz due roster bonus in March

Because he may not have better options to use as leverage -
Are we seriously going to let Levitre walk?
Fan in Chicago replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanx. I am currently in India wit very limited internet access and hence not up to.speed with all news. However, asking Fitz to resrructure makes a lot of sense if the new coaches value him as a backup. But my point was that Fitz is over paid right now and such money is better collected for players such as Levitre and Byrd. -
Are we seriously going to let Levitre walk?
Fan in Chicago replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Disagree. We should look at the replacement value for a.player of Levitre's caliber. If he indeed commands 7-8+ in FA, there is a very good reason for that - he is a superikr talent and one that teams struggle to find. For years we fumbled with the OL, let players like Ruben Brown walk. Then got desperate enough to overpay for players like Dockery. Levitre at 8mm/yr is much more valuable than 2 OL at 4mm each. Urbik was an anamoly. Have to retain Levitre. He is the kind of player we ask Fitz to restructure for -
How are we weaker by basically showing little interest in a streaky WR with a penchant for dropping balls or going missing at important times? He has been given plenty of opportunity and has come up small. Nelson is a far better clutch receiver and is better suited for the #3 or #4 role. We needed a true #2 with our without Jones. The new regime looks to have started some personnel evals and concluded TJ and Nelson can fill the #3 and #4 roles just fine. Probably will add 2 WRs this off season - one to be a #2ad one for sheer depth
-
Disagree with the first part. Byrd and Levitre will be large contracts likely with bunch of guaranteed money. Also cos there will be fierce competition for their services. Hence, will take time to negotiate and finalize terms. Agree almost fully with your second section. I wouldnt shed a tear if he goes elsewhere.

No talk between Bills and Byrd / Levitre
Fan in Chicago replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The new coaching staff would need time to complete player evaluations and make their recommendations to the FO. If its true that the Bills contacted Fitz for a restructure, they are now beginning the processs of working with the agents. Maybe they wil see what Fitz is willing to agree too so tjey know how much money they have. I will be suprrised if we dont make a major push to retain both Byrd and Levitre. -
He was drafted in 2010 so this will be his fourth year. IMHO, this year's training camp will be his last chance with the Bills

Bills contact Fitz to Restructure
Fan in Chicago replied to justnzane's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The title is mis-leading. The article says that the Bills have contacted his agent for a restructure. There is no comment on what he is thinking. I woildnt mind having him as a backup. -
Not according to this article save for one season: http://www.panthers.com/news/article-1/Crossman-not-retained-as-special-teams-coach/eef1a01b-8e37-4d13-a400-5435add8a896 I don't know what to make of Crossman. His stints in Carolina and Detroit were less than stellar.

Johnny Manziel - QB - Texas A & M

It is just January You must be new around here He may have but all these posts are keeping the fun going. The 'How many suckers can you get in one thread' game. -
Stats would say that he is doing better in SF than in Buffalo but as others have pointed out, the 9ers front-7 brings a lot more pressure than the Bills' D did during his time here. I would venture to say that given the front-7 prowess of the 9ers, Whitner should have put up much better numbers. Stats aside, in the 9ers games I have watched this season, Whitner does make the occasional play but is largely invisible. Much as he was in Buffalo. An adequate player but not worthy of the lofty draft status or the big contract.

Jamarcus Russell Making a Comeback
Fan in Chicago replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't tell if you are being utterly sarcastic or serious. I understand the dislike for Fitz, but Billy Joe should have taught us something about lazy, unprepared QBs How about this ? Let him translate said burning drive to drop his weight to playing levels. The onus is on him to first show why any NFL team should even waste the time of day to call him, let alone give him a workout. -

I don't know what to think of this until I see the crazy meter reading. -
Jamarcus Russell Making a Comeback
Fan in Chicago replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At 308 lbs, do you want him to audition for DT with the Bills ? In any case, any hopes of a comeback have to start with the weight but need to include a lot more such as commitment to the game, hard work etc. -
Mayock: 3 or 4 QBs will go in first round
Fan in Chicago replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have said before and will say it again - I don't trust Nix to make the right call. He has been roundly (and rightfully) criticized for blowing the QB situation in his tenure so far. He sounds desperate to fix his legacy and IMHO, is not going to be objective enough to make a decision for the first two rounds. I hope Brandon and Whaley use his input but ultimately take the decision out of his hands - whether it is for or against drafting a QB in the first round. -
Is the Patriots Dynasty Tarnished?
Fan in Chicago replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Umm... they were the second seed in the AFC and just played in the AFC Championship game. A tad less dominant perhaps but premature to call it 'crumbling'. Perhaps you were being sarcastic. But Pats* and the Lewis situation is quite unlike. Pats* were accused of cheating and Lewis of a lot worse. And if you were not sarcastic, huge scandals can indeed taint a person's reputation as in the case of Ben Johnson, Lance Armstrong etc. -
David Lee to be Jets QB Coach? (now official)
Fan in Chicago replied to ChasBB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that the experiment itself was a failure. But I think Fitz's inherent problems were unfixable by an improvement in mechanics alone. Can't place full blame at Lee's feet. -

Congrats to the 49ers. Very well played game. If the Pats* are to reqch the Superbowl, at least we will be assured of a good team against them. The Falcons, for all their record, just didnt inspire confidence. -
