(OT) A head's up for some of you
Fan in Chicago replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Didn't think I was serious did you ? Not speaking for Simon here (well actually I am taking that liberty), I doubt you will get a warning for simply being clueless. It is how you express your opinion, the level of dialog, courtesy and acceptance of opposing points of view that really matter. I wouldn't let a warning stifle your need to state your point of view if you stay within the board's terms of behavior. -

Much as I would love to see the Pats* beaten, I am not sure the Bucs are the team to beat them at this time. Pats* will go 3-0. As for the Jets, I have a recurring feeling that this will be a blowout in favor of the Bills. Final margin will be at least 17 points and that too because of a garbage time TD by the Jets. Other out-on-a-limb predictions: - They will double team Mario but he will get one sack. - Lawson and Alonso will have spend their time holding Billel for losses - Bills will come out throwing (I have stated earlier that the early part of the game will be key to the overall success of the O. If Manuel hits a couple of deep ones early, expect the Jets to never recover) - Geno will throw 2 INTs, one of them being a pick-6 Doesn't get any more homerish than this, does it ?

She was a supporter of media personnel in general. There was a thread where posters were particularly harsh with one of them who posted here. While she felt it was going on for a while, that thread was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. She stated her displeasure, commented on the viciousness of some posters and vowed to never return. Big loss, I miss her pre-game posts the most.

Bills rap by Nick Mendola
Fan in Chicago replied to Kemp2Warlick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Aw come on now. I like the spirit and the enthusiasm. Then again, I like anything playing up the Bills -
The key is sustaining drives on offense not necessarily the pace itself. If the O works at a fast clip and continues getting first downs, the opposing D is going to be really gassed allowing more scoring opportunities at the end of those drives. There may be some situations where slowing down may be valid but in general, I am not against the quick pace per se

Very good. Looks like players on both sides of the ball are playing well and smart footboall. Credit the coaching.

ESPN's TQBR -- how do we feel about this?
Fan in Chicago replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The base QBR and this rating both have EJ at about the same ranking which is good. He is in elite company on that list and ahead of several recent 1 rounders. Encouraging signs for sure. Is there room to improve for EJ ? Absolutely. But I would like to think it is due to a by-design conservative game plan to limit mistakes and allow him to get his feet wet. So far so good. -
Bills D vs. Geno should be fun
Fan in Chicago replied to billsintaiwan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills on Offense: - Jets have a good D allowing only 241 yds/game. Their pass and run D both appear to be good. - They will take out the short to med routes and challenge EJ to go deep. Early part of the game will be critical - EJ has to take deep shots. If EJ wants to be respected for the deep ball, this would be a great game to start. This will ease the pressure and allow more runs and checkdowns - Cromartie is good and Milliner looks slow out of the gate. Stevie should be able to get the better of Cromartie. - IN additiion to deep ball, sideline routes should be ripe pickings also. This is a good gut check time for EJ with both these routes - I think Hackett and EJ are picking Pettine's brain about how Ryan is likely to think on defense Bills on D: - Jets have given up 9 sacks and I don't expect that rate to change much. We should be able to get to Geno due to his reported happy feet. As with most raw QBs, hitting him early will pay dividends - You can bet Pettine is fired up and will dial up exotic pressure packages - Their run O seems non existent and almost RB by committee All in all, we need to dominate in the first quarter and if EJ plays mistake-free football, we should coast in this game with a score that looks like 30-17 -
Buffalo vs. Carolina: Official Game Day Thread
Fan in Chicago replied to The Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honest question - did you actually watch the game or are you forming opinions based on other peoples comments in the GDT and chat room ? I think a bit of that change happened at half time yesterday. In the second half, he definitely was throwing more than in the first half. The need to keep the offense simple and give uncomplicated throws is certainly understandable for a rookie. Better this way than to throw too much at him, realize he is not yet capable of handling it and resulting in a jittery performance. EJ looks decisive - doesn't always make the best decision but at least he doesnt have happy feet and panic throws. Methinks you are being a tad harsh and impatient with the rook (especially with your emphasis on 'got'). Yes he needs a coach to prevent him from getting bad habits but I would see him in a few more games before getting too concerned. -
Two wasted seasons when the DCs couldn't realize that his natural position looks to be at safety. Love the fact that we have a good one. When Byrd gets back, the combination will be awesome

The stats bear proof but what you say here is what I noticed most even in the NE* game. The game did not look too big to him. He looked totally in control. Dungy said today (no link but during the Seattle-49ers rain delay) that it is important to get your team mates believing in you and he said EJ looks like he is on his way to doing that. Love the kid, his attitude, down to earth nature and ofcourse his stats. he had a 69% completion percentage today. As you noted, it is north of 68% in two games. That is fantastic for a rookie. Hope he keeps a good head on his shoulders and continues to learn - we are in for a nice long ride.

YOu are welcome. Good to read some real analysis in a sea of biased opinions. I will also like to see this for our D as I thought they played pretty well considering injuries to the backfield, new scheme, many new players etc

I agree regarding the weekly thread. I certainly learn a lot and look upon it as an unbiased view.

Somehow I did not see this posted so thought it deserved its own thread. http://www.wgr550.com/two-bills-drive/17263530 Very interesting read, and here are conclusions per this analysis (quoting): "- CJ Spiller’s struggles aren’t a major concern, yet. It’s tough to figure whats going on in just one week and how the Bills will make adjustments. - EJ Manuel showed an awful lot to be excited about. Perhaps more than anything is his understanding of the offense. - I think the Bills offense is just scratching the surface of what they intend to be, and it’s pretty exciting."

Illegal Use of Hands
Fan in Chicago replied to quinnearlysghost88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was the most blatant non-call and I remember screaming about it. In general, the balance of calls was against us but we also shot ourselves on the foot way too many times. The CJ fumble, Stevie drop, Hughes' penalties.... lot of blame to spread around in a close loss but officiating just made sure we didnt get momentum. -

What Is The Stat We Will Need To Win?
Fan in Chicago replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I had to choose one stat, it would be % completion for Brady. If that percent is low, it means we are pressuring him and covering his targets. Also will allow us to devote extra resources to shutting down their run game. -
Who do you think will start Game 1 ?
Fan in Chicago replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Several reasons why, at that time, it was a question. First, EJ was injured and it was unknown how serious it was or how quickly he would be game ready. It is heartening to see the kid put in the effort and come back fairly quickly Second, it was not not entirely clear what was happening behind the scenes and whether Marrone would decide who is more suited to win more games this season. In my mind, it wasn't just about winning the first game. It was about who would win more this entire season. In any case, as you can see 38% of those responding thought that Tuel or Kolb will start - not an insignificant percentage. Hence, it was a question in several people's mind, including mine. Having said all that, I am happy I was wrong because the decision tells me that Marrone is convinced about EJ's potential and readiness.
