I fully agree and JW is just not responding to this point. Very well written post, BTW. IMHO, TG thought that he is likely to be portrayed as the instigator and decided to use his position to put forward his defense. And we never will. Who in the media is going to write that ? It is evident that JW is fully defending TG. Perhaps other reporters are also taking the "protect your own" stance.

As I stated way back in this thread, I thought that his line of questioning was more akin to an inquisition. He painted EJ into a corner and was hoping he would lash back. EJ did not yet did not provide an 'experienced' answer. I might let that go. But what really gets my goat is that TG uses his status as a reporter to use up space in the BN the very next day to write a lengthy piece explaining himself. Where is EJ afforded the same luxury ? Why does TG feel the need to explain himself the way he did ? The deck is totally stacked against EJ in this situation and there really was no way he could have come out smelling like roses. And note that I have also written several times on this board that I am skeptical about EJ and his likelihood of being the franchise QB that we need. I, like most fans, hope he turns out to be so. But that is besides the point. I am not debating whether or not the Bills should draft another QB in the upcoming draft.

I fail to see where anyone is annointing EJ as the 'golden boy'. Most are apprehensive and wish and hope that he does well, for the Bills sake. So I am not sure where your comment is coming from. Secondly, if you read the transcript from the interview, it felt more like an inquisition from TG. Like he was trying hard to instigate EJ into blowing up or otherwise providing fodder for his article the folllowing day. Instead, EJ took the high road and refused to be baited. TG then proceeds to write this entire article trying to defend himself. What other point was there to this entire write-up save to justify why he should have asked the question in the first place. Yep. My thoughts too

Precisely my thought. If they hired a new-to-the-position DC, Marrone would have had to do a lot of over-sight, which may have been too much considering he is rather green himself at his position. Advantage of this kind of hire (coordinator to HC to coordinator) is that if he does well, there is little chance he will leave to be a HC, having already failed in that job.

Brief note on this hire and I havent had a chance to go through the entire thread. The Bills need experience in coaching positions. Imho, they could ill afford to go with a fresh DC. Schwartz will have talent at his disposal. While the O staff learns, it was imperative that the D continue under an experienced had. Schwartz gives is DC experience.
