  1. Oh come on, any team led by Rodgers cant be that bad. By that time in the season, it could be Vick. Not that it would change the gist of your post....
  2. Something the Bills FO has never been accused of
  3. I am advocating getting Freeman not as competition to EJ but to bolster the backup position. And if it comes to a point where Freeman is pushing EJ for the starter role, we may already be in trouble. For as good as Freeman has been in spots, his inconsistency and undisclosed behind the scene issues should give one pause. Or atleast warrant a thorough due diligence. Which is also why I am specifically talking about him as backup. Agree on every point
  4. I differ in the point about bringing in someone with experience to backup EJ. IMHO, it is imperative that we bring in a QB with sufficient playing experience. I will go out on a limb and say that the Bills D is adequate enough to get us to the playoffs. On O, we have added depth at OG (CWilliams) and a proven WR (MWilliams). If we get two starters out of this draft (say at TE, OT), the only thing holding us back is the QB position. I am fully on board with giving EJ most of the season to prove himself. But, we have to be prepared for him imploding or getting injured. Based on the way the roster is built, we are too dependent on EJ and we don't know enough to place an entire season's outcome on one hope. As hope is not a strategy, we need to bolster the backup position with someone who has (preferably) starting experience and can protect the football. Not sure if that QB is Freeman, but we better bring someone in before TC. Lewis is too turnover prone to be an adequate #2. As someone else stated, he should be a #3 with Tuel put on PS or let go.
  5. Have been out of the country and unable to post much, but just to put things in perspective, here are our recent 6th rounders: 2013 Dustin Hopkins K 2012 Mike Asper G 2011 Chris White LB 2010 Arthur Moats, Danny Batten LB 2009 Cary Harris DB 2008 Xavier Omon RB (Though that year we also selected Stevie Johnson and Demetress Bell in the 7th round) 2007 JOhn Wendling DB This trade runs a very low risk of having lost out on a impact player in 2014 draft (yea yea, I know about past history not being an indicator of future success ....)
  6. A woman gets a nice job to report on your favorite team and all you testosterone fueled posters start mentally undressing her. This is just terrible. I am ashamed to be associated with this lot. That said, I surely would.
  7. Lewis may be adequate but I do not want to enter the season with him as a #2. He is quite inconsistent to be our primary backup. I was hoping for a more experienced and steady hand if one were available. Our D is now built to win but as expressed in several other threads, QB is our single point of failure and we cannot hope for EJ to stay healthy/develop significantly . I will be interested in who becomes available post-draft.
  8. Shameless LAMP re; value of contract http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/166521-why-no-love-for-carrington/page__st__20
  9. Add 'owner' to the list. Trumps everything else :-(
  10. RIP, Mr Wilson
  11. You are welcome. Congrats on the opportunity
  12. My cousin moved there about 8 years ago. She and her family love it. Nice communities, safe and newer shopping areas. Schools are good but be warned of hypercomperitive kids (parents actually) . Always looking to out-do the other kids in terms or academics and activities. So depending if you have kids and the schooling they have been uaed to, this could come as a shock.
  13. Pretty, quiet town .Friendly people, nothing in terms of night life. Excellent outdoor activity region. Tough to buy and (especially) sell houses so dont buy one till you are ready to conmit to the town on a long term basis. Depending on your lifestyle, yu could love or hate this place.
  14. The off field issues definitely worry me. Lynch was let go for a developing pattern of problems off-field. If we sign Britt after we signed Spikes (dirty hitting player), it will signal that the guys at the controls are different. I am not in favor of acquiring players with off-field issues especially ones as repeated as for Britt
  15. The day IL raised my tax from 2.8 to 5%* was the day I vowed to vote against Quinn no matter who the Republican opponent is. And I will stick to that promise. * was sold as a 'temporary' tax hike. Yeah right.
  16. If I were to bet, thats where he will stay.
  17. I lived there in the 90s so unless you have questions regarding current situation, feel free to PM me. Surprised anyone knows it exists
  18. Great. Thanx for the link
  19. Depends on the offer. For a hardworker with average akills, versatality, and little drama, I would peg in the 1.5 mm/yr range. Valuable role and depth
  20. That is my understanding too. There seemingly is an offer on the table from the Bills but Carrington (rightly) is shopping himself around. I like Carrington and wouldn't mind having him back. His value depends on the nature of his injury and his recovery. His reputation is made by these big name contracts that he secures for his clients. I have looked but cannot find which his other clients are and how much they got paid (especially relative to the market). It was evident that Byrd was the big name with the reputation and getting him a top flight was relatively easy. His worth should be measured by the contract values he gets for lesser players such as Carrington. As of now, in each of the above named clients, there was some level of acrimony between the primary team and the agent/player. This link says that Whaley confirmed last week that an offer is on the table http://www.buffalorumblings.com/bills-news-notes/2014/3/17/5517914/bills-free-agency-alex-carrington-has-visits-with-raiders-rams
  21. Donte Whitner was ahead of the curve on that one and this board roundly mocked him for that
  22. I partly agree but also agree with taskersGhost that he may be best as a role player. He has had several seasons to prove his lofty draft status and it is evident, Fred Jackson does more with the same supporting cast. Even if we set aside CJ's draft ranking, it all depends on what kind of O identity Marrone and co. want to set. CJ has big play potential but it comes through too sparingly to be effective. Going forward, a few points to note. - Addition of Anthony Dixon covers us on the low side if Jackson declines or is injured. - We still may be better off adding a 3rd round or lower RB to prepare for Jackson's eventual retirement - This situation again hammers home the follies of drafting a RB high. We have too often spent top picks on RBs to get minimal returns when a different player/position could have helped the team more. Not only with the Bills, but Trent Richardson and the underwhelming Mendenhall also prove this same point - If any team is willing to give us a 2nd rounder , I would consider his draft position as sunk money and make the trade. This is not hating on CJ (well maybe it is), but I would do it if Marrone thinks it makes the overall O better
  23. Spikes visit just confirmed by Bills text !
