  1. You forgot to mention that the article talks about Brees being traded sometime in the future. The article is more about the Saints drafting a possible successor in the upcoming draft. Hence, the premise of your post is not correct (that he may be available in the coming offseason). "On Sunday, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Saints will look to select a rookie quarterback in the 2015 draft as they prepare for the eventual day when Drew Brees steps away from football."
  2. No doubt. I was praying that Geno would make a uncharacteristic TD throw to win the game but it just seemed like the Jets were hell bent on not trying to score points. Last night was terrible for the Bills playoff chances given the disparity in strength of (remaining) schedule between Buffalo and Miami.
  3. Forget throwing to him, Smith wasn't even looking his way. No reads, no progression, just hand it off or lock into someone over the middle to throw to. Smith is toast.
  4. Should have traded for Alex Smith last year and if they liked EJ, drafted him anyway. That would let us have a middling QB who would have done far better with this squad than the rookie EJ did last year or what Orton is doing this year. Whaley has built a very good roster but it could have been better with the choices that were available. ASmith, re-signing Levitre or signing Vasquez (I think he was the G available). I would venture to guess that we would have a minimum of two more wins this year so far.
  5. And it was clear when you watch it several times. Manziel decides not to pass and pulls it in. At that point, he is hit and fumbles. Luckily the overturn did not affect the outcome of the game, but that should not give a pass to the officials for blowing it.
  6. Brady was certainly under more pressure than he usually is. But, his WRs and TE get a lot of separation which is maddening to watch in a 'how are they consistently so open" sorta way. What was different yesterday was that Rodgers was on fire. He was matching aggression with equal or more aggression and did not give the Pats* the luxury of sitting back and toying with the opponent's defense. Fire with fire works and there are only a few QBs who can stand unfazed by a quick strike TD drive and follow up with a scoring drive of their own. It was a great game to watch, not just because the Pats* lost but it was a good duel and fun to watch two pretty equally matched teams.
  7. IMHO, GB's D was not dominating Brady yesterday. Rodgers just made more clutch plays than Brady.
  8. EJ was definitely not doing well in his last two games. But the O 'looks' better with some throws and catches but the production has not markedly increased. We are kind of stuck right now with the two and the coaches have to decide who is less bad. Make no mistake, the first half of yesterday's game was close to rock bottom for the Bills O this season. The phenomenal catch by Woods changed the game. Woods should get yesterday's game ball.
  9. Smirk: to smile in an affected, smug, or offensively familiar way. I was bloody frustrated at the offense and was smiling in a 'things will never get better" way. There was no humor in my smile.
  10. In addition, the OL is not doing much for opening holes in the run game. Maybe a few reverses, sweeps would help keep the opposing defenses honest . But the first half yesterday was brutal. I was sitting smirking all the time watching the overall ineptitude of the O and the lack of accuracy on Orton's part. In fact, I was wondering if Orton is adding something meaningful than what EJ was doing. It is ofcourse up for debate (not that it hasn't a million times already) but I think the team has to treat Orton as if he is a rookie - play great defense and let Orton make enough plays to keep the game competitive.
  11. Please don't turnover the ball now
  12. Chargers and Ravens in a dog fight
  13. Still a quarter to play, guys. Remember it's the Bills
  14. Now grindg it out on the ground.
