Hmm. Leroi 'reported' that Marrone was offered the OC job in Jax. Is that not true ? http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/175422-this-is-too-funny-marrone-trys-for-jax-oc/page-11?do=findComment&comment=3429088

Who will the Bills bring in at QB?
Fan in Chicago replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In addition, there are other benefits to a strong run game. The team can be more versatile and do better in poor weather. Secondly, if we acquire one of the aging QBs such as Manning or Brady, it will be better to not over-work their arm and shoulder throughout the season. Use only as required and save the arm strength if required for the playoffs. Else a dominant opposing defense can simply take away the run game knowing that the arm is too fatigued to win the game through the air. -
This is too funny.... Marrone trys for Jax OC
Fan in Chicago replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As I said after Marrone left - the NFL is a small club. You do not get ahead by acting as an uncaring and ungrateful idiot. May not be. The agent may not have foreseen the way Marrone would depart. That caused a backlash and stuff came out which, IMHO, would not have if he had departed cordially. My guess is that the agent is the one feeling angry. -

Cowboys reportedly offer DeMarco Murray 4yr/$16mill
Fan in Chicago replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A dominant OL and ground and pound may be the Ryan-Roman strategy anyway. I think Ryan was onboard when the Jets invested high draft picks on the OL. I can see their strategy to include letting Spiller go and signing Murray along with a one or two pulling guards. His fumbles concern me though ... -
Pegulas, Rex, Whaley = Big Splashes Commeth
Fan in Chicago replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While we are over-analyzing his words, "A few things have to go right for the puzzle to come together." Could mean if a particular team loses this weekend, that QB will become available for trade. Only one out of the 4 that could even remotely be available is Brady. Ergo - we will trade for Brady. -
As he said, poor Doug Marrone

Pegulas, Rex, Whaley = Big Splashes Commeth
Fan in Chicago replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If splash is to be made, might as well make it in an area that makes the most impact. I love Mario totally and would only trade him if a high impact player such as Brees is available. I know Kirby Jackson does not think Brees will be let go. But I am just playing out a scenario in my mind which would make the most sense in a 'have to make tough decisions' frame of mind. (1) Delta cost per year would be fairly low (2) I would trust Ryan to get the most out of an altenative DE (3) We have to re-sign Hughes Besides the contractual aspect, the only football aspect that worries me is that Brees depended a lot on Graham and Roman is not a big TE focused guy. -

Just for kicks and in the spirit of this thread - would you trade Mario for Brees ? I suppose the cap situation will not be hugely different. -
If you wrote that entire post by yourself, I have to commend you for your writing skills and your perceptive knowledge. Welcome on board and please post more.

Just as Cutler is a coach killer, the Buffalo D is the coach maker. -
NEW HEAD COACH: Rex Ryan! It's Official!
Fan in Chicago replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Teams don't show up on Primetime just cos they are good. It is also about the markets they are in and the extent of the fan base. Else teams like the Cowboys wouldn't have been on Primetime through their down years. But I do agree that they mean nothing in the W-L record. Just makes us fans feel important cos our team was selected to be one of the few. Inferiority complex I suppose. -
Soooo.. What is the 49ers pan if they indeed trade Kaep? Shouldn't they have a viable option before getting rid of the guy who had one good and one below average year? Knowing how difficult it is to even get a half way decent QB, getting rid of even an (average) QB without a replacement makes little sense

I think it will come down to defensive philosphies. If Ryan decides not to rock the D boat and have Schwartz continue for at least one more year, it will be a win-win. It allows Schwartz another year to build his resume. It allows Thurman to be the apprentice in case Schwartz lands an HC job next season. Finally, it allows Ryan to focus more of his attention on staffing up the O. Any new HC will need time to set the identity of the team and personnel. If he can get Schwartz to say, it is one huge area where he can save a lot of time and headache.

I disagree. This looked like a Bills game where the Broncos D played very well but their O had a tough time doing much after that first drive. Notice how many short/behind the LOS passes Luck was throwing early on. It depends on whether Fox knew of the injury yet stuck with him through the rest of the season. Or did PM hide the injury to get through the season. If it was the former, I am sure Fox would be in a terrible quandary. How does a coach bench a Peyton Manning and have the fan base trust it was for the better of the team ? Much easier to bench an EJ Manuel than a Peyton Manning.

Report: John Fox could be fired [Update: He is]

No reason for anyone to hasten his retirement. His now weak arm, aging body and tired mind will do that for him. -
What if our new coach is worse than Marrone?
Fan in Chicago replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was not his point. He was making an outrageous suggestion to somehow prove that those who are saying Marrone was a terrible coach are silly and are equally off the mark. (Can't believe I am actually helping OC) -
The Real Buffalo Joe is the unfortunate outcome of one such indiscretion by joesixpack's mother which makes TRBJ a step-bro to JSP

The problem is that your strategy totally backfired in this thread. Instead of making your point, you have riled many of the posters including some respected ones (despite your conviction to the contrary). You may choose to justify your position based on your professional career but the attitude you took and the way you chose to construct + defend your argument leaves a lot to be desired. You started off with a simple enough question which is worthy of discussion - matters can indeed get worse. But that hypothesis went out the window when you started down the "Marrone quit due to the media" path (which I entirely see what you were trying to do there) and proceeded to defend your supposedly brilliant debating strategy by a bunch of attacks and aggressive posts which worked totally against you. -

Bills ST assistant John Anselmo defends Marrone
Fan in Chicago replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is entirely likely that Marrone saw that Brandon's influence on the organization was going to go down drastically. So the same guy who influenced his hire and was probably being his fairy godmother within the Bills organization was on his way to being neutered. Which only meant the guy in charge would be the one guy Marrone had a rift with - Whaley. Marrone bailed before that could happen.
