  1. Wow ! I would not have expected this. If true, would he have had ANY trade value ?
  2. The difference being that Leaf brought it upon himself. It was entirely his doing. But it is tough to heap total blame on RG III when he did so well in his rookie year. Something is amiss here and I would guess that the Redskins organization is more to blame for where RG III is now - he is literally a broken player. In a way I feel bad for RG III because in his rookie year, he appeared to have good character and exciting skills. How great would it be for us fans if Luck and RG III had both panned out - different styles and fun to watch.
  3. With the kind of horses we have in our stable, Roman would be foolish to adhere to a particular philosophy ('ground and pound') at the expense of another (exploit all areas of the field agressively). In SF, Roman had a few but not the total list of toys he now has at his disposal. With McCoy, Clay, Watkins, Woods and Goodwin, it would be an utter waste to commit to a ball control, run the clock philosophy exclusively. We are not built to be coy on offense and the QB's range should not be the limiting factor in the decision. Precisely. There is no reason to hope and wish for a passive offense when you have a potential top-5 defense
  4. I will seriously question Ryan's QB evaluation skills if Cassel is named starter. Even if Roman prefers MC, I still think it will be Ryan's decision to own. From what we have seen so far, MC is the one most likely to be game planned against byb opposing DCs. Both TT and EJ can use all parts of the field and can offer multiple options to Roman. We have the skill players to utilize every part of the field. Cassel will seriously limit their use. We are tough and aggressive on defense. That allows the O to take some risks. Both TT and EJ offer that dimension. Playing not to lose is sooooo Jauronic that it will totally underwhelm. I lean towards EJ but wont be as upset with TT as I will be with MC as starter. There is no reason to aim for a conservative offense
  5. I am calling BS on that one. Metz already said that Ryan had decided that TT is the man. Before today's game
  6. There you have what ? If you thought that EJ was a distant third in the competition because EJ played with the 3rd string offense in the first 2 preseason games, then it is entirely fair to surmise that EJ is ahead by a nose.
  7. Or maybe people are just happy that one QB appears to be pulling ahead and that makes the Bills better ?
  8. Man, the media will be back tracking hard. I won't be susprised of JoeB hopes EJ plays badly, simply to vindicate his anti-EJ 'reporting'.
  9. And this wording right here separates the good posters from the not-so-good. A lesser poster would have taken offense at NoSaint's post and gotten combative and defensive. You, OTOH, stood by your position. Got to respect that even though I don't agree with your take always.
  10. This may be sacrilege around these parts, but for all the flash and stats Luck is accumulating, he seems to come up small in big games. I have not looked up stats but my perception (which ofcourse is reality ) is that Luck will let you down at the most inopportune time. Dareus's absence is huge but I trust Ryan to game plan well enough to stymie Luck. If we get even average QBing with no mistakes, we should win this one.
  11. So were Tebow, Vick and Flutie. Exciting doesn't make a winning QB. If Tyrod, in addition, brings Russell Wilson's smarts, we can have a conversation. I want my QB to complete passes not audition for Dancing with the Stars
  12. I have seen clips from TC and also saw the entire Browns game which indicates what you write. But have been burnt enough times over the past decade and hence am holding back on the hope and excitement
  13. I think he is. But besides that he is knowledgeable about football and has some inside knowledge about the organization. Unfortunately, he is also a closet Stillers fan. And if you didn't realize it yet, if I continue to ball**** him like this, I avoid warning points for a year.
  14. Oh come on! EJ may not be playing to a level you desire. But to say he has not improved is completely ignoring the facts. Its not just the moderator tag. And I did realize it was tongue in cheek but wanted to offer some historical perspective re:TBD
  15. Good to see your post, Simon as always. A few points (some of which may be counter): - These days the window of opportunity is pretty narrow. This roster is stacked from top to bottom with talent save for the question mark at QB. I would hate to lose this opportunity before some major contracts come due - Say we do NOT make the playoffs this year. Will the coaching staff now be under scrutiny for throwing away the boatload of talent ? Not making the playoffs for so long comes with some incredible fan baggage - We are not totally tied to the current 3 QBs for next season. There is always the slim (and stupidly hopeful) possibility of a Brees or Rivers coming available I see your point regarding playing for the larger prize but it hinges on EJ's ceiling. Several posters, some astute, think that EJ will never improve his accuracy. Do you think otherwise ? Around these parts - Simon can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants
  16. Now you see my point. The way Ryan said it implied 'never' . there were also no caveats in his statement at that time. IMHO, it was rather presumptuous to say that while also saying he may not decide on a starter till all preseason games are done. He sounds undecided which is fine but then don't go about pretending to shut the door on one of the choices.
  17. I thought last week Ryan had said he doesn't expect EJ to see first team reps again. Am I missing something
  18. Not sure what you are saying here. I would have rather not spend yet another year to find out if its true or not. Fair enough as you are entitled to your opinion. I just disagree with that. But how long can we wait ? Winning windows are narrow in the NFL. Note that I am not supporting or 'hating' on EJ. I am simply saying that considering we are still asking ourselves that question, I would rather err on the side of having one too many good QBs.
  19. I would say yes. QBs will take time to develop and especially ones selected in the middle rounds. But you have to start at some time. Unless we are sure we have landed on 'the one', there should not be an aversion to selecting a promising QB. Your question can be asked at pretty much any point in the draft. There will always be players (and positions) which are easier for a rookie to excel at in his rookie year. But if a QB starved team like the Bills were to keep thinking like that, they will hardly ever select a QB unless they back themselves into a corner as they were when they selected EJ.
  20. I would have liked the Bills to use one of their mid round picks on a QB in this year's draft. I had no favorites so the best remaining QB in, say, round 3.
  21. An oil change is like a dental cleaning - an opportunity for the shop/dentist to see you and sell you stuff. Which is why many dealers send discount oil change coupons - they want the foot falls. I hardly, say yes to anything on the spot. I say 'yeah, thanx' and if it is something serious (like brakes or joints or something), I take the car to another shop to get a quote. Then make a decision. Most of the time, they really can find nothing and come up with some ridiculous list of 'fluid flushes' which total $400-$500. Just because they HAVE to try and sell me something.
  22. He won an award after he was no longer a member here. TBD was holding him back. Considering I come here for valuable advice regarding my life's problems, can you two come to a consensus ? As it is I have preemptive depression reading the QB debate on here.
