Sammy Watkins did not practice due to sore foot
Fan in Chicago replied to 16-0's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So.... honest question. At what point do we say that his unavailability (!) is a problem for the team ? Perhaps he plays against the Raiders in some limited capacity. But if he continues for the rest of the season by being partly available or not available at full health, what does the team do ? We had heard about the trainers and doctors in last offseason and yet here we are. Note that I am not accusing him of slacking off or being soft. All I am saying is that if his injuries are unlikely to have him at full strength for a season, is it worth keeping him in the hope he plays at some point of the season ? Or does the team take a long hard look at trading him in the offseason ? He is an immense talent but only when he is on the field and playing even at 80-90% strength. Not on the bench or on IR. -
Aaron Rodgers---huge douchebag??
Fan in Chicago replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
what a slanted article. If the article said he was facing personal issues and it may be affecting his play on the field, it was fair. But to suddenly dig into his personal life and go all TMZ on Rodgers is really low. He may be right, he may be wrong but as many have noted here, we cannot stand on the far sideline and judge him. Nor should we try. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2676645-can-aaron-rodgers-be-the-type-of-leader-the-packers-need This is also pretty poor. Kick a guy when he is down ! Where were these outcrys when he was burning opposing DBs, winning MVP title, winning a superbowl ? As far as football discussion goes, the Packers have prided themselves on being the team who lives and dies through the draft. This has worked in the past but not recently. The organization needs to realize that a healthy blend of FAs is required to consistently win in the NFL. Rodgers is a fantastic QB. Give him a stronger supporting cast and most importantly, give him some latitude to sort out his personal issues. Then watch him rise back up again. He is certainly no Dareus to really make excuse after excuse for not playing. -
Let's see the range of the Bills' fanbase.

Why are players still confused on defense?

You really shouldn't have done that last part. So far you were an annoyance which we were tolerating. Now you are just messing up the board with your idiocy. -
Speedy recovery, Eric

Tyrod Taylor played better than expected tonight...

First Cleveland, Now the Cubs.....

But it took the Cubs 108 years so I wouldn't hold my breath -
At least this way he can say he went to a championship game

Imho, Harvin's talent has rarely been in question. It's his on-field availability and his desire which have been frustrating And we need more electronic devices with spell checkers

Gilmore needs to go
Fan in Chicago replied to offsides#76FredSmerlas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ragging on Gilmore is Totally fair as this a thread about Gilmore and not the D as a whole. Gilmore not being consistent and not being a play-hard-Kyle-Williams contributes to the D's limited success. Especially with the emphasis on DBs in Ryan's schemes -
Gilmore "was" reportedly available for trade
Fan in Chicago replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am going on a tangent here, but it was very evident who the real bullies on the field were this past Sunday. The hits by the Pats** defense were hard and mostly legal. This is what we were expecting from Ryan but all we got was his talk. -

Gilmore would be given a lot more leeway if he delivered on his promise. He has looked occasionally brilliant but frequently in lacking effort/smarts/instincts. The issue is not whether he is a good CB. He undoubtedly is. But he does not consistently perform on the field to deserve a top-5 or even top-10 contract. Much as the Bills did with Jairus Byrd, Levitre, they will set a value for his services in a take-it or leave it offer. Darby isnt nearly as bad as you make him out to be. His rookie year was very good. This year he has performed at a lower level, but so has the defense as a whole notwithstanding some individual bright spots. Failure in the performance of the D (especially the secondary) needs to be monitored and likely another symptom of Ryan's over-thinking approach to coaching -

Hey! No fair. -

The 2013 Defense ended up being bad against the run but solid against the pass. The end-season rankings were run D # 28, pass D #4, Overall D #10 So, this D overall is well below the one in 2013. -

Fan in Chicago replied to offsides#76FredSmerlas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you have the firepower, you get into a shootout. But most teams dont have that so.... You play ball control Offense and keep the ball away from him.(and score ofcourse) On D, you depend on your front 4 to provide the pressure and cover gronk with LBers, no cheating by the safeties, stay with your assignments. This is just off the top of my head. We are hobbled enough to not be able to do what I suggest on Offense but at least on D, there should have been different things done to limit the damage. -
OK, let's do this: Tyrod Taylor

Sorry to hear about this, John. -
I am surprised you think that. I think Woods is a better blocker and route runner than Hogan. He is a borderline #2/very good #3. But Hogan IMHO is one below him on each. And I liked Hogan...
-
Actually I am not assuming Woods is gone. Money can make people do strange things but in some ideal universe, if Woods takes below market price, that woukd be a pretty fearsome threesome. And haven't you said earlier that the bills will have cap space next year? Edit - making this move may help negotiations with Woods next year
-
Right. So the numbers have to of course make sense but it almost immediately takes the pressure off to draft a WR early. We would be set at WR for a while
-
I think Watkins, Woods and TSmith will make a great receiving corps. Do you not see woods as coexisting with Torrey Smith?
