Bills showing interest in WR Brandon LaFell

So you have one less reason to bi*** about Whaley -
Yep. Sounds like a great deal for the Bills. Also means that there wasn't much of a market out there for TT . For all the talk of him not wanting to restructure and he can go to one of many teams and be a starter, here he is back on a team -friendly contract. Having said that, this covers the Bills on the low side and ensures they don't have to panic in the draft. They can take a QB they like if the value is there in 1st or 2nd round. So, in short, bash Whaley if he 'goes rogue' and bash him if he agrees with his new coaches' evaluations.

There is a lot of sense in this post. And this coming from a guy who is not a TT fan. I can see both sides of the argument regarding TT considering not many are arguing he is a franchise QB. If they don't retain him, they better have a damn good plan, one without the initials CJ.

Mike Gillisllee - Combine News

With a lack of a Brady and a Matt Ryan, Buffalo needs to rely more on the run game than those teams. I am not totally disagreeing with your sentiment to spend very moderate amounts for the RB position but those two are not good comparables for the Bills. -
Did I not concede that I am not sold on his drafting record yet ? Whether you blame or praise him entirely depends on point of view or the argument you are trying to make. If the argument is that he made the picks without the HC's input or acceptance then Whaley is alone to take blame or credit for the picks. If you think he was trying to give the HC what he wants, he is partly responsible (he still is in charge of the talent evaluation). Last point I would like to make in this discussion is that 2018 December/2019 January is the right time to make a decision on Whaley. At that point he floats or plummets based on the Bills' record. I have no idea what you are implying here
-
Frankly, much of the consternation is a result of losing. Do you really blame Whaley for not being in sync with Ryan ? I can also twist this argument to say that Whaley did not agree with Ryan's personnel decisions but followed his lead to allow Ryan no excuses. I think McD was recommended by Whaley and he will sink or swim with that decision. Imagining a rift between the FO and the new coach is just creating a story where one does not exist, especially as evidenced by the source

Made my day!! -
Of course the medical staff has to clear him. But I wouldn't give him any guaranteed money to guard against boo-boo-footitist

With minimal guarantee money.

Why not Use Transition Tag on Gilmore

Can you elaborate? -
Why not Use Transition Tag on Gilmore
Fan in Chicago replied to Stussy109's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good job with the stats, bandit. I am of the opinion that Gilmore is a top-10 but not a top 5 corner. I would like to see him stay as a Bill because we have way too many other needs esp Safety and WR. I think he stays. -
To your points 1 and 3 - I have been saying this even when it comes to TT. That the structure of our O will be refelective of what Dennison and McD want to do going forward. i like McCoy but can understand him being let go/ traded if the O is going to be the type you describe. I would love for us to get a pick for McCoy and his value should be fairly high right now (for a RB that is). Only thing I worry about is that the Bills will spend a high draft pick to fill the gap. While Gillislee may be good, I dont think he can be the feature back. And not sure yet about JW as we havent seen much of him. I like the fact that McD is quiet about all this. The next month will tell us a lot about the future direction of the O.

Cost becomes the consideration if one really believes they are performance-neutral. However, two off-seasons in a row now, many fans really forget how they felt after many games where TT routinely missed receivers, bailed out of clean pockets, took sacks or was unable to comeback to win the game. He also has major hot and cold streaks where some quarters and halfs he near about disappears. The stats will average out the hot and cold parts to show a decent stat line but that hurts the flow of the game. We need consistency throughout the game as well. But the performance neutral argument also works as Smith will likely come cheaper. TT under his current contract is a bad decision IMHO if Smith is available. But at least he has reached the playoffs multiple times. No one is advocating Smith as the savior or a franchise QB. I just happen to think that he is the better bridge QB than TT. I would hate to spend the 2017 season with an improved D and getting nudged out once more due to the O unable to pull off close games.

Report: Bears Looking to Deal Cutler

By those standards, its Josh McCown -
Keeps improving ? He regressed in 2016 compared to 2015 Dont expect him to change. He will be exactly what he has been for the past 3-4 years. Which is not all that bad but if the Bills get him, it wll be for his demonstrated skills and not a hope of magical deep game. Aint going to happen. What you will get compared to TT is a more consistent game, better pass spread. What you lose is the threat of the deep ball and the long runs. Smith can scramble so he isnt a total statue but running game will suffer. In my mind, it will come down to money. If we somehow get Smith for a 2 year deal which is less costly than TT's, we should get him. Perfect bridge QB, IMHO.
