  1. Only if he keeps his mouth shut, his jersey tucked, Twitter account disabled and runs the designated routes. Too much to ask?
  2. Exactly. He saying he is annoyed certainly rankled me and even a few days later, I cant get over it for the reasons you stated. He has proven nothing as a GM so far. Poor press conferences are something that Whaley used to regularly get trashed for. Beane's start is no better and the pressure will get worse if the team underperforms. He needs to understand the public aspect of his job real soon.
  3. But, McD and Beane did have a choice. Yet they started off by not exercising that right. They got rid of few players they did not have to, not cos their contract was up, not cos they were over the cap. Their hand was not forced and yet they chose to exchange for decidedly lesser players today. I am all for roster building but you have to start with what you have, work out the rookie kinks (HC and GM), learn to manage the game, show small successes and then go on to become more ambitious. Starting off handicapping yourself on the talent side is tantamount to voluntarily chopping your hand off without needing anyone to tie it for you.
  4. It is too early to make a firm proclamation but the early actions of McD make me suspect he is a control freak like Greggo than a passive personality like Jauron, Beane saying that he is 'annoyed' by the tank suggestion is NOT a good start for him. If this is getting him upset, he has a lot more coming and he better learn to control it and manage his communications. This too is not too alike Levy. I do agree that not valuing the super-skilled players seems to be similar in concept to Jauron/Levy. I am firmly of the opinion that you do need playmakers & leaders on both sides of the ball and the team rounded out by above average players who fit the scheme.
  5. Welcome to GM-ing in the NFL, Mr Beane.
  6. They already has superior lines built up, good receiving core and stumbled on to Prescott. We do not have a strong enough core nor the leadership. Depending on rookies is hope, not a strategy
  7. Very well written. My points: - I am NOT on board with the recent trades, especially for Watkins. I can understand scheme fit, but you do need play makers on both sides of the ball. It was the correct decision to not pick up his option but this was his 'show me' year. If he was healthy and produced on the field, he is a game changer. If he didn't in 2017, you do not renew his contract. Getting a pick is hardly compensation for a confirmed elite talented player - Despite the proclamations of Beane and McD, this is a throw away year. It is the wrong time to do for a franchise bereft of playoff appearances. I can understand the thought of a long term build, but giving away your talent in the hopes of acquiring more future talent is unnecessary. We already had 2 first rounders next year. The plan should have been to win this year and replace the missing/wrong pieces next draft. There are many a team which has turned it around without shipping away their premier talent - In addition to 'giving away' this season, the next season cant be that bright either if there are rookies all over the place. A team needs leadership, mentors and that seems sorely lacking in the locker room (save for K Williams, Boldin) - The immediate goal should have been to change the loser culture around the team. These moves go against that goal and can further frustrate players and fans alike
  8. Only to the Yates fans. I don't see anyone arguing that Peterman should be starting.
  9. So extending your logic.... If the bills are not making the playoffs, you rather have them go winless?
  10. For a change, I want the Bills to look competent during the preseason and win the game. I am tired of the "its only preseason, chill. They are hiding the O and D...During the Superbowl years they looked terrible also....." narrative. I really want them to win
  11. By definition, it can't be 'true' until it's happened. So till then, your post is just a pessimistically sad pile of c*** (sorry, I meant opinion)
  12. Unless he suddenly develops the ability to hit receivers over the middle, it will be Sammy or Zay on the outside that see the most targets
  13. Thanx as usual. You can take the rest of summer off
  14. 17 years back they started digging a hole. Now they are building something
  15. He is a rich player. Not a star, not yet anyway. Assuming you are talking about Gilmore
  16. And Zay Jones. Always good to have a hard working and accomplished vet for the young 'uns Maybe best not to have those expectations of Boldin. He will be around for critical downs, helping TT, mentoring the younger WRs
  17. I see where you are coming from but it is tough to argue in favor of percent revenues. A lot of effort goes into generating revenues for an NFL team. Granted the players are the key but that is true of any other business. As an example, a worker on the assembly line of iPhones can argue that there are no phones if you take away the workers. Watkins will have his time during negotiations and will get paid as he deserves. But I do disagree with the broader point of advocating for salaries to be a percent of league revenues. It is a very complex discussion which doesnt lend itself to full analysis on a message board. The entire structure of the league, revenue, costs, CBA is intricate and it is simplistic to point to one aspect without considering the overall business of running an NFL franchise and the league in general.
  18. Spiller was such a big tease and hammered home the point (which we never learned with McGahee) that you dont spend a high first rounder on a RB. Rare, very rare exceptions exist but it is just not worth the risk when players with much greater impact potential can be chosen. As for Gilmore, I am not as down on his abilities are you are but I do agree that he is not shutdown, routinely underwhelms and not worth the contract he got from the Pats**
  19. Marrone wasnt wrong in wanting a culture change. Point I made earlier is that McD seems to be very similar in his outlook - imparting culture change but wanting to concentrate power in his hands. Pegulas didn't do enough to convince a HC who had 2 years of experience but got sold on a rookie HC's vision of the same. Not all coaches are the same so I fervently hope McD can make it work but the apparent approach by Pegulas with Marrone and McD is certainly questionable in my mind.
