Dick Jauron and the QB Situation
krazykat replied to smuvtalker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Only in the eyes of players that wanted to win now. Real team players, huh? So we mortgaged the future, part of which was this season, for what, 5 wins because a handful of players had their interests above the team's? Milloy, Fletcher, Vincent, Moulds. Maybe we can mortgage another few years for 4 or 5 wins again this season. Wouldn't that be grand. And then the best part of it is we can talk about doing the same exact thing all over again next season. Maybe we can even sign some more vets that don't care about future seasons but only that one. And we wonder why this team isn't going anywhere. When the team's leader grow some, then maybe we will. As long as they allow the vets to run the team and define it's goals, you'd better get used to this annual exercise. -
And if a check for $1,000 arrives in my mail every day for ten years I'll be rich. If, if, if... Any reason to believe that our DL can stop the run? What, the coaches tell you it can, is that it?

How original.

Dick Jauron and the QB Situation
krazykat replied to smuvtalker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolved! Plenty of high school QBs locally have also outplayed Holcomb. Light? We'll see come week one. You raise a good point however, that more reps will help Losman when he ends up starting. This fiddling around with both, or all three only hurts Losman. -

I don't think that anyone's discussed the QB situation at all yet. -
Bengals set up a phone number for fan complaints.

We need this at the Ralph. Some fans there have really turned into A-holes over the years. -
Ogden and Roaf are also in their 30s. Gandy's smack in the middle of his prime.
-
To sum up: Ogden (Boller as QB) had 9.25 combined sacks and holds. Pace (Bulger, Fitzpatrick, Martin) had 6.00 combined sacks and holds. Roaf (Green) had 7.00 combined sacks and holds. Jones (Palmer) had 7.00 combined sacks and holds. W. Jone (Hass) had 3.50 combined sacks and holds. Gandy (Holcomb, Losman) had 12.00 combined sacks and holds. OK now, so the argument is that Gandy is as good as the others then?

ESPN and more of their ridiculous stats
krazykat replied to Ramius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Funny how out of the "good decision makers" they list only one, Brady, has a SB ring while the other two have more or less put up only average numbers for scores in their careers on a per season basis whereas the "bad decision makers" have all won a SB or played in one with the exception of Brooks. -
Huard and Fiedler also weren't 33 and on their way out the door of the NFL either.

Did you like the Donahoe era? No you say? Then I guess that makes you not a fan then. By your reasoning anyway. The difference between him and you is that he sees where this thing is headed while you will have to have it slap you across the face before you realize it. You and others like you will buy into anything. IMO the most avid fans are the ones that are sick and tired of window dressing fixes and more big name (Levy) hype with more failed head coaches (Jauron) and coordinators that don't have any real experience. And when was the last time a Super Bowl team, or even a decent playoff team was led by a first year GM, head coach with nothing but failure behind him, and a pair of coordinators with a combined three years of experience (all Fairchild) yet under a head coach that didn't allow him to do anything for sum total of those three years? Because it's funny, I just can't think of any. Oh well, I guess we'll be the first ones then.

Funny though, most of them sucked prior to coming here but fans just turned their heads because they wanted to see something different. Now Jauron is here and of course none of the reason now why the Bears sucked under him, or Detroit last year and why he wasn't considered for the HC job there, isn't his fault at all. Deja vu. Bills fans, meaning most of you, welcomed with open arms, cheers, and fanfare the following also stating how they would lead us to a Super Bowl: Trey Teague, Mike Williams, Bennie Anderson, Jeff Posey, Doug Flutie, Joe Pendry, Kevin Gilbride, Mike Mularkey, Tom Clements, Drew Bledsoe, Lawyer Milloy, Sam Adams, Jim McNally, Tom Donahoe, Ross Tucker, Ben Sobieski, Mike Gandy, Chris Villarrial, Willis McGahee was just supposed to tear the NFL up, Kevin Everett, and Roscoe Parrish. Now it's Levy, Jauron, and a couple of coordinators allof whom don't have much more reason for hope than those in the list above. But, here we go again... It will be a refreshing day in Buffalo when we finally land a GM that believes in building teams from the lines outward, who believes in hiring a coach that knows how to get the most out of his team instead of losing all the time, and one that will hire some coordinators with some experience. But hey, as long as everyone's happy, who cares, right?

Yeah, it's too bad so few people supported him hear last season!

Everyone said the same thing last season too. You were probably among them. And all Willis did was play as if he knew that his direct deposit would be in his account if he simply showed up to games on Sundays. -
If that's true then he wasn't worth either an 8th or anything close to that kind of contract. He needs to perform like a top-5 SS within three seasons to justify that.
-
Right, and not as if our coach isn't overhyped either. At least Miami has experienced coordinators. Capers is good at D.
-
It's funny, because there was the same support and ridiculous expectations for Anderson last season with the homers telling us all how wrong we would be on him if we declared him the obvious backup that he was, that there is for the coaches and new players this year. Just like Mularkey Jauron's well liked by the players. Our new linemen, in spite of having all been primarily backups, will be great starters here with us. Etc. Some people learn, some don't.

Nice post. It's pretty clear at this point that Levy is just a figurehead.

Great. The highlight of Marv's tenure at GM. Having a birthday cake wheeled out so that everyone could dwell in nostalgia. It would have been far more refreshing for him to have announced his retirement at the end of practice. This story is good for zero wins this season. What is this, the happy go lucky feel good Bills! Does anyone actually care about winning games.

Good To Hear Matt Bowen Is Looking Good

Donte's not the one being unreasonable here! -
No rookie that just turned 21 days ago is gonna be a gamer after missing a week of camp. He'll be lucky to start which makes the pick a poor one. Good teams don't find themselves in this situation with players that they reached by a half a round to draft. It's time for a new GM. Marv's 81. How long are we supposed to wait for him to hit his prime. The man's done nothing worthy of note and now the single biggest addition to this team is on the fringe of not making much of an impact this fall at all. Nice job Marv!

About sums up the mentality on message boards.

ps at 81 years old that's not a good thing.

This whole thing smacks of not having been thought through from the beginning. We're tallking about $1 million here for an extra year. As you say, most players after the first few don't get 6-year contracts. Didn't Levy know this? Can't someone point it out to him? What person in their right mind would want to sign a six year deal with the Bills? Do you honestly see Levy here in four or five years when he's 86 or 87? What do you think that Whitner thinks about that? Levy's mostly at fault here. Your first round picks aren't expected to be "for the future." They're supposed to make an impact in the NFL TO-[FREAKIN]-DAY! Maybe in Levy's era of coaching you could afford to sit around and watch your 1st round players develop, but not today. Levy hasn't done one thing that suggests that he either knows WTH he's doing or that he'll eventually be a good GM.
