  1. It's not the media, per se....it's the message!
  2. RIP as well. Wasn't he the warden in the original "Longest Yard?" Funny timing, considering the Adam Sandler remake opened today.
  3. I posted this a while back. Parrish reminds me of Gary Clark of the Redskins, who was about the same size/speed combination and scored a TD in SB XXXI against the Bills: http://www.redskins.com/team/bios/clark_gary.htm
  4. I still disagree with you. The cap is not the issue. Small market teams manage the cap as well as (or compared to the Skins', better than) the large market teams. Ralph's worried that the competitive balance will shift to the large market teams if they can start giving out larger and larger signing bonuses. The best FAs will go where the money is and the NFL will become MLB with a handful of haves and a whole lot of have-nots. Bonus money after the initial check is cashed is just an accounting entry on the salary cap. If a guy gets a $20 million signing bonus on a 5-year contract, nothing goes out the door in terms of hard cash in years 2-5, even though the team carries a $4 million charge on its cap each year. The big hit is coming up with the $20 million. For small-revenue teams, it's a whole lot harder than for the Snyders' and Jones' of the world.
  5. He was dismissed at $3 million per season. Now if he only cost $1-$1.5 million, that might be another story...which is why we should continue to follow it until he signs somewhere.
  6. He's doing the smart thing and not risking an injury that would jeopardise a trade. Your TH bashing is getting really old.
  7. I don't see this as a salary cap issue. It's more of a signing bonus issue. Bonus money paid up front has to come out of either the team's operating budget or the owners pocket. Amortizing the bonus (for cap purposes) over the life of the contract is just an accounting game. Ralph's argument is that the big market teams have more revenue to dole out in large signing bonuses, so they have a competitive advantage over the small market teams in snagging the premier FAs.
  8. http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20...s26nflmeet.html According to one league estimate, there was a $120 million gap in total revenues last year between the richest of the haves (Washington) and the poorest of the have-nots (Arizona). The Chargers were said to be almost $100 million behind the Redskins in total revenues – a margin that figures to grow in future years if the owners don't adopt a new revenue-sharing agreement, which would require 24 votes from the league's 32 owners.
  9. Left town without a contract, appararently: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Texans | Shelton Enjoys Visit - from www.KFFL.com Thu, 26 May 2005 14:43:25 -0700 The Associated Press reports free agent OT L.J. Shelton (Cardinals) wrapped up a two-day visit with the Houston Texans on Thursday, May 26. "This is a great organization," Shelton said during a tour of the Texans' facilities. "I like what I see so far. I have to weigh all my options. I'm kind of waiting to see what happens." Shelton went through an almost hour-long workout Thursday morning, then spent the rest of the day visiting with team officials and doctors.
  10. Bills | McGahee Does Not Practice - from www.KFFL.com Thu, 26 May 2005 17:36:28 -0700 The Associated Press reports Buffalo Bills RB Willis McGahee decided not take part in practice Thursday, May 26. The team concluded the first week of organized team activities today. Bills | Lee Gets Most of the Reps - from www.KFFL.com Thu, 26 May 2005 17:33:35 -0700 The Associated Press reports Buffalo Bills RB ReShard Lee received most of the carries at practice Thursday, May 26 as the team wrapped up a week of organized team
  11. Bills | Take Holiday Break - from www.KFFL.com Thu, 26 May 2005 18:42:22 -0700 Gregg Pastore, of BuffaloBills.com, reports the Buffalo Bills' coaching staff and players will observe a four-day break in honor of the Memorial Day holiday before resuming voluntary workouts Wednesday, June 1.
  12. Hey...great link. I didn't know they still made flight attendants like that ! And as an added bonus, I also found out how Ron Mexico got the herp! "Herpes From Waxing?" 5pm 5/26/05 | Dr. Sean Kenniff
  13. Current draft choices are a lot more valuable than future ones to most GM's. They've got to think in the present, right now, "what have you done for me lately?" No team was desperate enough to give TD a 2005 pick on draft day, hence the lack of action on Henry, Edge and Alexander. TD's draft picks the last few years have actually been well off the norm, in that he gave up immediate gratification for future potential (WM and JP being the two prime examples). Most GM's don't have that level of job security, IMO. When a player who can help their team is available, it's much easier for most GM's to deal a future draft choice and worry about the consequences down the road. I still think there's a lot more time to deal Henry for a 2006 pick.
  14. Hey, who pays any attention to anonymous 13-year old adolescents (or 13-year old "adults," for that matter) posting trash talk on sports chat boards? On the other hand, that logic would apply here at TSW as well....never mind.
  15. I'd wait until training camp gets underway and see if they can get a better deal. BTW, I also discount anything Adams says...Floyd Reese will make the football decision, not 'ol Mop Top. OT: Here's a cool pic of the "Foolish Club" including Adams and our very own RW http://www.offworldvision.com/newsite/web/...aflfounders.jpg
  16. Ralph's just lobbying for some of Jerry Jones' and Danny Snyder's off-the-field concession and luxury suite revenue. And the funny part is, he and the other small market owners will probably end up getting some, based on the reports that Tagleabue's brokering some kind of compromise deal. Good for him.
  17. Yep, and you probably pay sticker price when you buy a car, too. Didn't think so...
  18. Nah. Henry has value to a team that's desperate. Right now, that list doesn't include anyone...it's May for crying out loud. It's still a game of chicken, just like it was leading up to the draft. The odds that another team will see a starting RB go down between now and September grow each day. TD just has to wait for some GM under pressure to "win now" come to the realization that a 3rd round pick in 2006 is worth being competitive this year. It'll happen. It does every year, with all the pariety in the league.
  19. For the same reason as this: http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=24609
  20. THE A-TEAM (2006) To Be Announced 2006 Director: Unknown Writer: Kevin Brodbin Cast: Jack Black (rumored), Mr. T (rumored cameo), Owen Wilson (rumored), Brendan Fraser (rumored) http://movieweb.com/movies/film.php?1139
  21. Yep, you nailed it. I never consider making a counter offer when this situation occurs. It's only a matter of time before the "bloom's back off the rose" and the cycle starts all over again. What's the old saying about, "fool me once...."
  22. Texans | Shelton in Town for a Visit - from www.KFFL.com Wed, 25 May 2005 17:28:13 -0700 Updating earlier stories, the Associated Press reports free agent OT L.J. Shelton (Cardinals) began a two-day visit with the Houston Texans Wednesday, May 25. If signed, Shelton probably will replace OT Seth Wand as the starting left tackle. "We'll go through the process of evaluating him and figuring out how he might fit in," Texans head coach Dom Capers said. "I can't tell you why he's available right now. But when there's a guy that has athletic ability, we're going to look into it." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/foot.../25/roundup.ap/
  23. He played in the Arizona and Cleveland games last year: http://www.buffalobills.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=122560
  24. Yep, they're really going for that "13-year old male" demographic with that remake.
