  1. A low-cost vet like Priloeau or Reese can--and should--be broght in by pre-game #3 if Wire puts on any more performances like last night. They're not that hard to find...as evidenced by the two guys you named. Get er done, John Guy!
  2. Here's the type of guy John Guy (no pun intented ) should be looking at. Carolina drafted Thomas Davis in the first round and he's slotted at #2 on the SS depth chart for the Panthers, moving ahead of McCree: Marlon McCree - SS Carolina Panthers Height: 5-11 Weight: 202 lbs. Age: 28 Experience: 4 years College: Kentucky Drafted: Year:2001 Round:7 Pick:33, Jaguars Scouts, Inc Grade: 69 His recognition skills most often get him into good position and he does a nice job of the reading the quarterback and jumping routes in front of him. He has good ball skills, flashes a burst once he's got it and looks almost like he would be a good running back. He is very physical and does a nice job supporting the run. Is a good open field tackler when he breaks down and is a powerful hitter. However, although McCree explodes into his tackles and will force some fumbles, he can be overaggressive and he will miss some tackles trying to deliver the kill shot rather than breaking down in the open field and wrapping up. Despite his effort, doesn't have great bulk or lower body strength, doesn't match up well inside the box and gets driven back at times. 2003 HOU 13 games started 50 tackles, 35 solo 2004 HOU 16 games started, 24 tackles, 22 solo
  3. There's some truth in that, although to be fair, it depends a lot on the quality of the spotters in pre-season. I doubt they had much support in the booth for this game.
  4. Last night might have been Wire's worst game ever at SS (that's saying a lot!). His poor play seemed to be highlighted in virtually every Indy replay that was positive. Leonhard was strictly at FS, I think. He seems like a brainy kid that knows how to read the play as it unfolds in front of him, so he's definitely a center-fielder type, IMO. He even reminds me a little of your namesake, the great gazoo (especially on his interception), in that the ball always seems to be around him.
  5. Baker and Leonhard (lil' Oppie ) are strictly FS material. With Roscoe out, it will also be very interesting to see how many reps Leonhard gets on the punt return team. He looked really elusive on his one good (non-fair catch) chance last night. John Guy will be looking for a late cut veteran SS, I'm sure. Think I'll poke around some other rosters to see what might be a possibility...
  6. Yep, he looked good. But I believe Indy was playing its Left Guard at Center (in place of Jeff Saturday) and the guy looked a little shaky... might not be a good test of Edward's progress, unfortunately.
  7. He's just not fluid enough to play in space...he looks like Wile E. Coyote going over the edge of the cliff whenever he has to change direction.
  8. Wisconsin's a pretty brainy school as well...
  9. If they're going to keep a marginal guy for ST play, Joe Burns is a much better option. Wire missed at least half a dozen tackles tonight...unacceptable for a defensive player, while Burns was in on just about every ST play. There are some younger, cheaper guys that can play ST that have more upside than Wire.
  10. 1-under with three to play. Looks like CBS can breath a sigh of relief for the weekend!
  11. He's at even par for the day with 4 holes to go (two long par-5's to finish up). Needs to shoot 2 under to (comfortably) make the projected cut line (+4).
  12. Didn't seem to hurt Jimbo any... (Yeah! 1000th post)
  13. http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/leaderboard?tournamentId=226 He needs to shoot 3-under over last seven holes to have a chance: http://www.pga.com/pgachampionship/2005/sc...ards/08793.html
  14. To be honest, I'm glad he's not there. Jill and the girls need him more right now than the folks at trackside...
  15. He probably meant the X-rays haven't been read by the medical staff. I'm sure Bud Carpenter got a look at whatever was done last night. Hate to guess, but it sounds like a break of some kind. The only question is how much recovery time Doc Marzo might diagnose. Hope I'm wrong...
  16. Jeez! Don't scare me like that. I thought you were referring to Twisted Sister! Now I know Dee's getting a little older, but hey....aren't we all. Dee Snyder
  17. Hey, let's bench JP before he brakes his leg again... LOL!
  18. Uh...it's a contact sport. What does drafting have to do with broken bones?
  19. 101. (he'd probably get bonus points for something...)
  20. What does his size have to do with it...it was a non-contact situation that could happen to any WR.
