  1. WM appeared to take the wrong guy on blitz pickup (dove inside to help the OL, leaving the outside guy an unabated run at JP). Didn't like the formation and personnel in the backfield on that play...
  2. Speaking of turds...Scott, how about flushing this one?
  3. Half or more of Carnell Williams' yards came after initial contact from a Bills defender. I'm not happy with WMs lackadaisical approach...if he's not going to be a speed threat, then let's see some power.
  4. I thought there was some holes in the first half, before it got out of hand. WM was jus a little too slow hitting them (although Carnell Williams might done a good job of it...he's got a great first two steps).
  5. Not quite sure what to make of Clements' game plan. It looked like the one used in the last two preseason games when they weren't trying to show anything on film.
  6. Yep, like the 85 Bears would've played today if they were on the field!
  7. This might be my biggest disappointment today (and boy, there's a lot to choose from). Has WM hit a hole a full speed yet this year? We can pile on JP all we want, but I'd love to see our power back show some burst, even if it's just running up the back of an O-linemen. Enough with the Fred Astaire. You weigh 230 pounds, deliver a blow at least
  8. Just thought I'd keep this thread from falling too far down the list!
  9. Spikes' man. Greise started to scramble and TKO broke off coverage.
  10. Yeah, that site will last long...wait 'til the lawyers get ahold of the folks running it for a libel beef. Ross Cellino can't wait to get his licence back.
  11. Wow, NYC and Boston, too! How'd the show go? Much different from opening night (tighter, looser, different set list)?
  12. While you're at it, maybe you could put Montana in a time machine and see how he'd fair as a Brownie...
  13. I may be mistaken, but couldn't the same thing be said about Griese?
  14. Don't know about that, but I found this tidbit from Pasta Belly interesting (and a little sobering): "The Houston pass rush, the second-worst in the NFL over the last two years, recorded only one sack Sunday."
  15. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/8841434 Stats of the Week No. 8 : Buffalo has won 10 of its last 13 games. Tis Better to Have Rushed and Lost Than Never to Have Rushed At All: Willis McGahee gained four yards on his first five carries against Houston. When the run doesn't work right away, many teams immediately give up and go pass-wacky. But often the running game starts slowly, then builds steam as defenders tire. Buffalo kept giving McGahee the ball, and on his remaining 17 carries, the gentleman rushed for 113 yards. NFL teams, don't abandon the run. In other news, didn't the Buffalo Bills look sweet in their 1965 throwbacks? These uniforms feature red, white and flag blue -- not to put too fine a point on it, but the single most successful color scheme in world history. The look was a huge improvement over Buffalo's current livery, based on a hue TMQ calls Nineteenth Century Rusting Russian Dreadnaught Aft Bulkhead Cyanic. Bills, just switch back to your old uniforms -- the 1965 look or the equally handsome colors of your Super Bowl run. All will be forgiven! You can leave the current ugly uniforms on the loading dock at league headquarters, no questions asked.
  16. Huh? WM averages 5.3 yards per carry and the O-line deserves "blame?" Three red-zone penalties (albeit by the O-line) caused the lack of TD's, but I've seen a lot of over-reaction to the the lack of success against an 8-man front in the first quarter. We weren't going to run on HOU with that stacked front until JP backed them off--which he did.
  17. AD, you remain one of the few "voices of reason" left on TSW!
  18. Houston started the game in an 8-man front designed to stop the run at all cost. Nobody was going to run on them in that alignment, even if we had last year's starting 5 Pro Bowl O-linemen lined up for the Bills. When JP threw on that D-alignment, Houston was forced to back off and the Bills run game then opened up. Simple, effective, and the plays the Bills did NOT show in their preseason games. Now we know why.
