  1. It looks like it was Clements to me. Here's what the Chin had to say about the TC hiring: "On the offensive side, I think everybody is very happy for Mike (Mularkey) and the opportunity that he now has as he becomes head coach in Buffalo. I know Mike wanted to take Kenny (Whisenhunt) or Tommy Clements with him as a coordinator and I was not, at the time, ready to be able to talk to either one of them and name either one of them. I wanted to talk to both of them at the time, so Tommy had the opportunity to go up there knowing he would have an opportunity here, but knowing he was offered a job as Mike got it. So, Tommy went with Mike as his offensive coordinator, "
  2. Here's the article. I thought Clements was MM's guy, but this article suggests otherwise. More research necessary....
  3. Another fine product of the public education system....
  4. Mularkey again called out McGahee, who ran tentatively against the Bucs. "Whether a hole's there or not, we've got to have Willis hitting up in some of the creases that were available," Mularkey said. "We need to make yards when we run the football. It's very hard to call plays and get into a rhythm when you're having three-and-outs. I just think the run game will help J.P.'s progress in the passing game."
  5. I have a technical question about him being gone. Is his IP address blocked? Could he just sign up again under a new ID? Always wondered if these kind of guys were truly gone, or just resurface again with a new handle.
  6. OK. In 2004, Willis averaged 4.0 ypc vs. 4.2 for Julius Jones and 4.7 for Kevin Jones: http://www.nfl.com/stats/leaders/NFL/RYDS/2004/regular By your ypc measure, does that make Willis better than Tomlinson (3.9 yards) or Portis (3.8)?
  7. I was referring to the 20 posts in two years. I also think WM's been juking too much this year. But to say he's done it his whole career as a Bill is ludicrous.
  8. You're so opinionated. Do you go to strip bars too??
  9. Oh great, another new troll. Do YOU know more about the Bills than anybody on this board???
  10. I saw MM stick out his hand to shake with WM and Willis just walked right by to get to the bench. MM looked a little surprised. WM probably was a little steamed about running the ball the whole way down the field and then not get the chance to score the TD. I'm not worrying about that, however. I'm more concerned about WM's bob-n-weave style vs. the Bucs.
  11. She definitely needs to move to the Naked News! I might actually start watching television again.
  12. Just think...by game four we can have Quadrophenia! Oh God, I need a drink of cool cool rain.
  13. According to the NFL site, JP has a 72.2 rating. Don't know what Yahoo's numbers reflect.
  14. Put Peters in as a blocking TE (he's better than Neufeld) and run away from Rice, just like teams used to do with Bruce. You're right about Shelton, though.
  15. Good Lord, you're blaming TD for their injuries??
  16. The problem was that WM was only picking up like 2-3 ypc on first and second down, putting the pressure on JP to convert third-and-fives. We lost this game on first down, IMO. Not enough TE patterns in obvious running situations, not enough quick slants to EM. Sigh...
  17. We faced a few 8-man fronts last year and Willis seemed determined to run over people if necessary to get his yards. This year, he seems more inclined to make people miss. Too soon to call it a trend. And no, I don't want TH back on my team (although I was getting a little Cadillac-envy yesterday ) Wouldn't two TEs and Shelton make it 8-on-8 when the Bills go smashmouth against a stacked front D? Then it becomes imposing your will vs. a simple numerical mismatch. Something's not clicking yet.
  18. I'm not convinced it's all blocking. The whole right side of the line is intact from last year, so there should be some continuity there. From what I can see, Gandy and Anderson have been about on par with JJ and whoever was plugged in at guard. The difference appears to be more in the way of WM's hesitency at the point of attack. He's either waiting too long to hit the assigned hole (if it's there) or not cutting back quickly enough when the D overpursues. His leg drive doesn't seem to be as intense as last year either, when he often carried tacklers 2-3 extra yards after contact. I'm not putting it totally on Willis, but he's looked only OK for one-and-a-half quarters out of the eight played so far this year. He's got to step it up and at least be a more punishing runner even if the blocking is marginal. He needs to run like a 230 pound back--not Shaud Williams. The coaches have to design a passing game that'll back the safeties off so there are fewer 8 man fronts as well. But there were games last year when teams overcommited to stopping Willis--and couldn't. It was probably the quality of the competition, but I think it bears watching.
  19. Dare we say, Ricky Williams-esq!
  20. I just spoke with my brother who was at the game. He's lived in Florida for nearly 20 years and he said he couldn't believe how freakn' hot it was in the stadium. The Bills players on the sidelines were scrambling for good seats near the mist fans all day. September in Florida really favors the home team. Just like our December's...
  21. The Bucs O-line included a rookie guard playing his second NFL game, two other first year starters and Kenyatta Freakin' Walker, a guy who almost got cut. Talent-wise, not much different from the Bills, maybe even worse based on NFL game experience. Didn't seem to be a problem for Carnell Williams, though, who was into the LOS about as fast as any back I've seen in quite a while. RBs can make their OLs look better than they are...and Cadillac certainly did that.
  22. Ye Old Pot n' Kettle story, huh...
  23. Well, then the play was doomed from the git go since they had two guys lined up to blitz from the same side. The inside blitzer got pushed inside by the OL and WM so that left JP one-on-one with the DB. Not a good scheme.
  24. Would've been a half-the-distance penalty from the three...no big loss versus the safety.
