  1. I never had the sense they quit. But they did seem to lack a burning desire to win at all costs. Sort of risk-adverse, play the percentages football when blood 'n guts were needed. This year's team came out of the gate thinking they were better than they are. The wake up call's been pretty rude. If they don't show some fire this week, it's pretty much over for this year and we spend the next three months beating each other over the head....
  2. If I'm not mistaken, AJ took a pretty good shot at Ralph on his way out the door. No way he'd be welcomed back at OBD.
  3. IMO, if Butler were still alive, Smith wouldn't have had a shot at a GM postion after what he did with the Cards. Great pro personnel guy, but marginal GM. Hey, everybody's down on TD but trading a dollar for a buck doesn't do much good...
  4. For $9 million a year, I'd prefer to have two quality O-linemen. You think they wouldn't have made a difference on the 4th and one's we've missed the last two weeks?
  5. You've nailed the biggest reason for the 1-3 record, IMO, coupled with the lack of takeaways. The D can't get off the field, and it's killing them. Teams have figured out the Bills blitzing schemes, apparently, and they're not getting enough pressure from the DEs (to be fair, this may be by design the last two weeks - to contain a running QB rather than doing a hard rush from the outside). Sigh....
  6. I think we need to see Peters in a Flea Flicker play...the D would fall down laughing and he'd score easily....
  7. There are posters on TSW that know more about football than Prisco, or many "name" media members (well, maybe not on a Sunday night after a loss ). Just another big yawn between Sunday's.....
  8. That's only 9% below the general population average...not much of a deficit, IMO.
  9. I believe its called, "the healing process" Some guys are faster/slower than others. They've got a better idea of how its coming along now. No big mystery.
  10. The revisionist "we should have kept Bledsoe" tone of the piece is what causes it to lose credibility. I wonder if DiCesare would have written the same column if Drew were stinking it up in Dallas? It's fine to hold TD accountable. But silly to dwell on the DB move as just a "shell game" move, IMO.
  11. Dude, your wayback machine needs a new battery. The Bills' 17-7 victory over the 'Fins that snapped the 20-game losing streak was on Sept. 17, 1980. Marino didn't enter the NFL until 1983. The Miami QBs that day were Bob Griese and and Don Strock.
  12. It's what we do here...we love drive the car backward because its easier than looking in the review mirror. Regarding the BN column, my thought was "why didn't we see this argument last December." TD's record then was 23-25. Just as "bad" if you go by Dicesare's logic. But oh, that's right, it wasn't politically correct to bash the Bills then like it's become over the past 10 days. "Master of fan-pandering." Gee, I can think of a great candidate for that description.
  13. Who cares about AC? Rico, what I want to know is, "how were the Stones in TO??!"
  14. He doesn't look comfortable for some reason. Steamed over Dorenbos maybe?
  15. Yeah, I agree. But the unfortunate thing is that JP appears to be so busy looking for the pass rush that his down-the-field vision and timing are getting totally screwed up. The DCs are taking advantage of this by running so many stunts/blitzs that he and the OL are spinning like tops. If they could get Campbell out of supporting the OTs in blocking and back into the passing game, maybe JP would have a better relief option. I'd like to see them put Peters in on two TE sets and have MC get more involved in the passing game. That said, the pass rush Sunday was not going to let JP exploit the Falcons banged up secondary. And as MM said, they were trying to keep Vick off the field by winning the time of posession game.
  16. Wicked postpartum reaction... OTH, Lindsay Lohan's starting to gain her old figure back. That was a popular thread a while back.
  17. Sort of like her movie career since Shakespeare in Love...
  18. Could be it's just better opposing teams, better coaching staffs the last two weeks. I'm pretty impressed with Mora the Younger in what I've seen so far. Chuckie's, well...Chuckie.
  19. Hot Pockets just came out with a whole bunch of new flavors, apparently.
  20. I'd look at it as more of a budget / who's available decision. No affordable pass pro guys vs. a few bargain run guys like Bennie Anderson. Of course, the old addage about getting what you paid for comes to mind...
