Would you rather: Ron Rivera or Pete Carroll

It sure helps if you have the best talent in the nation, year after year too. Pass on "choke hold" Pete. -
Pulling JP in Week 2 destroyed the Bills

talent and coaching destroyed the Bills....not pulling a struggling 2nd year QB. -
Biggest Bills disappointment this year...
Sound_n_Fury replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For me its the coaching staff, above all else. Very rarely have they put together a game plan that plays to our strengths, hides weaknesses and attacks the opponent's vulnerablities. Maybe its a lack of confidence in the players' abilities, but it seems like a real drop off from the promise this staff showed last year (up to the Pittsburgh game). -

How about Dina Carroll or Grace Rivera. -

Roscoe Parrish was the dumbest draft pick
Sound_n_Fury replied to Stl Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True. But Gandy has not been the bust many predicted prior to the season. He's not been the weakest link on this line by any stretch of the imagination, and I'd even go so far as to say he's outplayed CV who was a much more expensive FA pickup. -
Excellent article on HC candidates for Bills.

Nice post, Cincy. I was going to mention Rudi Johnson's stat, but you beat me to it. We can always count on you for some intelligent football talk when all else around her is Romper Room. -

Looks like quite a few did. This would NEVER factor into the Bills thinking, however.... -

Yep, and Lee Evans and Willis were dumb too. Or are they only dumb when they don't work out several years down the line.... -
Where'd you come up with that?

Anyone see this pic from the game?
Sound_n_Fury replied to SACKMARINO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about over the last 5-6 games. Nate started off pretty well, if I remember correctly... -
At the beginning of the season, would you have traded Clements for Johnson straight up (contract issues aside)? How about Willis for Levi Jones? Or Lee Evans for Thurman? Palmer is the difference maker in this whole mix, IMO. The Bengals could have easily had another Akili Smith fiasco but finally struck gold with a guy that makes every other player on the team better.

Your logic holds up until you look at who was available at the #55 pick. Only two OL were taken after Roscoe in Round 2 and neither appear to be impact players (yet). Now I suppose TD could have traded out of the spot, rather than drafting a smurf WR, but then you're talking about finding a willing dance partner in a 10 minute window.

I originally had a star on him and took it back off. His 86 tackles are about half of LF's, but his 5 INTs sure are impressive for a rookie. Let's see how durable he his before he gets the star tag, though.

Other than Chad Johnson, Palmer and Steinbach, Cincy's draft record since 2001 isn't much more impressive than the Bills: 2001: Round 1-- 4 Justin Smith DE Missouri (Starter) Round 2-- 36 Chad Johnson WR Oregon State (Starter-Star) Round 3-- 66 Shawn Brewer TE San Jose State (cut) Round 1-- 21 Nate Clements CB Ohio State (Starter) Round 2-- 46 Aaron Schobel DE TCU (Starter) 58 Travis Henry RB Tennessee (traded to Titans) Round 3-- 76 Ron Edwards DT Texas A&M (Starter-IR) 95 Jonas Jennings OT Georgia (Starter--left via FA) 2002: Round 1-- 7 Levi Jones OT Arizona State (Starter) Round 2-- 41 Lamont Thompson FS Washington State (traded to Titans) Round 3-- 67 Matt Schobel TE TCU (Backup) Round 1-- 4 Mike Williams OT Texas (Bust) Round 2-- 36 Josh Reed WR LSU (3rd WR) 61 Ryan Denny DE BYU (Backup) Round 3-- 97 Coy Wire SS Stanford (Backup) 2003: Round 1-- 1 Carson Palmer QB Southern Cal (Starter-Star) Round 2-- 33 Eric Steinbach OG Iowa (Starter) Round 3-- 65 Kelly Washington WR Tennessee (Backup) Round 1-- 23 Willis MaGahee RB Miami (Starter) Round 2-- 48 Chris Kelsay DE Nebraska (Starter) Round 3-- 96 Angelo Crowell OLB Virginia (Starter) 2004: Round 1-- 26 Chris Perry RB Michigan (Backup) Round 2-- 49 Keiwan Ratliff CB Florida (Backup) 56 Madieu Williams CB Maryland (on IR) Round 3-- 80 Caleb Miller MLB Arkansas (3rd String) 96 Landon Johnson OLB Purdue (Backup) Round 1-- 13 Lee Evans WR Wisconsin (Starter) 22 J.P.
