1. now we can see rivers...

...he's not pulling an RJ and looking very good. Very limited pocket presence so far, particularly on that fumble in the end zone.

I wonder if SD would rather have had him nailed to the bench from a trade value perspective?

  2. you don't need talent.  its all about the coaching!  wow, that had to be some tasty Kool-Aid® cuz I remember gettin flamed for comparing McNally coaching our OLine to putting Patton in command of the French Army

I don't think it's a question of talent with MW...it's the fact he sits to piss that's the problem. Even McNally can't fix that.

As for Bennie Anderson, that was a Kool-Aid move.

  3. Good link, but with that salary that puts Crowell in the top 30 salary wise as far as LBers go.  Even or ahead of Suggs, Diggs, Bullock, Porter, Morgan.  Sorry but Crowell by any stretch, and his being inactive early is not "starting quality" on a good football.  He certainly is not top 30 in the NFL, and probably not top 100 lb in the NFL.

This is a bad deal for the Bills.

Here's some more fuel for the fire:

Average For Top 100 LB salaries:

    ..............Base Salary.......Signing Bonus.......Other Bonus........Total Salary..........Cap Hit

    2004......$1,104,066.........$1,171,294..........$152,779...........$2,428,139........$2,013,251

    2001........$874,416............$933,125.............$68,997...........$2,159,305........$1,677,390

    % Chg..........26.3%.................25.5%................121.4%.................12.5%.................20.0%

  4. After the Minnesota Superbowl, it was widely reported that a cold weather team would not get another Bowl for a long time (if ever) because the sponsors didn't like the cold.

Also, Minnesota has a dome, so the entertainers aren't out in 10F weather (once they get inside  )

The neat thing about Minneapolis was that you could get all around via tunnels and skyways without actually having to go outside (much like Toronto). And the weather was not really an issue that week...cold, but much nicer than a typical lake effect winter day here in WNY (not as damp feeling).

Of course, only cites with a dome would be considered for a cold weather SB. Since they are few in number, its tough to schedule these sites very often. It will be really interesting to see how this year's game goes in Detroit.

  5. Cuz you wont get the entertainment value for the Super Bowl in a cold weather region.....sponsors want a bigtime event....You think Bono or Aerosmith will come do a halftime/pregame show in 10 degree weather???

The Super Bowl is more then just a football game...It's about the BIG $$$$$

    544251

I went to SB 26 in Minneapolis and it was terrific. I spoke to some high-roller Redskins fans who had been to numerous SBs and they also thought that Minny had done the best job of hosting the game up to that point.

The point is, it's not about "where" as much as "how well run." Jacksonville's a warm place but many people thought they pooped the bed with their shot as a host city.

You're also right about the SB being about BIG $$$$...and folks will follow that anywhere, regardless of where its held.

  6. I remember when Dickerson was the o-line coach back in the early 1990s. Marv Levy fired him after a season.

    544285

He was the D-Line coach from 1986 to 1992. Marv fired him after the SB XXVI loss to the Redskins when Dickerson made fun of the "Hogs" during media day and gave Washington a nice motivation to run all over the Bills.

  7. Major corporations search top universities for students who have demonstrated an ability to embrace challenge and excel at the college level.  The best performers at the most competitive schools are the most sought after.  Common sense dictates that these are the people that have the best chance of contributing to the success of the company.

It's these people who are 'groomed for success'. They represent an investment so they're nourished by a support system which hastens their developement.

And, just like the NFL, about one-third of these "best performers" fall flat on their face in the corporate world, at least based on my experience. Being able to produce at the college level and doing it in the "pros" is no different in business than it is football. In fact, the college "all-star" is often washed out sooner (after 2-3 years--up or out), given the higher expectations/salary they generally carry.
