Lots of early interests from other teams
loadofmularkey replied to JP-era's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The point is, it's pretty much safe to say that neither are coming here. Rolle is practically a Redskin already and the Cowboys and Giants are showing serious interest in Smoot. -

Except in Madden 2004, he was able to pick up Ray Lewis and Donnie Edwards to solidify that glaring hole at LB as well as Chris McAlister and Champ Bailey for insurance at CB...you know, just incase Clements leaves next season. -

Which "stud" LBs are you thinking?? The only UFA LBs I can think of who would be classified as "studs" (and that's a big reach) are Trotter and Kendrell Bell. I don't think either of them are coming here. As far as stud CBs go, there's Law and Ken Lucas and it's probably safe to say TD isn't going after either of them. -
While waiting on the edge of your seat for TD to make that first big free-agent splash, why not take in a spring training game between the Mets and Nats on ESPN?

LAMP: That's It ... I'm Done With The Bills

I can't speak for the rest of the posters, but my comment was laced with sarcasm. Hence the little smiley face sticking his tongue out in a playful manner. -

WHO WILL BE THIS YEAR'S JEFF POSEY?!?!?!?! I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE. BTW, I love the avatar. Denny Crane. -
Let me preface this post by saying two things: 1.) Skip Bayless is a tard. 2.) I saw Million Dollar Baby and thought it was outstanding... THAT BEING SAID, there is one thing that bothered very much about the movie and it's something (unfortunately) that Bayless brought up in his column. After Maggie is paralyzed and is in the hospital, it's almost driven in to the ground that she lost the fight. I'm not sure exactly how it is that you could "lose" a boxing match by virtue of your opponent delivering an illegal, paralyzing sucker-punch. Just saying is all... Other than that though, I thought it was great. I was very happy to see Morgan Freeman finally get an Oscar...I'm not sure people realize how good of an actor he is. One my all-time favorites.

Rodney Peete has been released

I guess that means TD would have to bring Wayne Fontes aboard in some sort of role as well. Gosh I do love reminiscing about the 1991 Lions. -

Bucs prefer opposite approach to Bills at QB
loadofmularkey replied to RJsackedagain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2001757 With the pusuit of Garcia, the Bucs are signaling that they aren't ready to hand over the reigns to third-year quarterback Chris Simms. "We don't give guys starting jobs here just because Buffalo is giving their guy [J.P. Losman] their job," Gruden told the two Tampa-area papers. "Chris Simms has to earn that right. He has to earn the right to be a starter. He hasn't done that yet. Interesting. -

Yeah, ESPN and NFL Network have aired this special like a million times...it's still pretty interesting three years later. -

Reggie Witherspoon was on ESPN Radio GameNight last night and on College Gameday (on ESPN TV) there was a discussion about the Bulls as an at-large bubble team. Who could've ever figured this would be the case as recently as two years ago??? -

They have NU projected to play Kentucky in the first round. I still remember how close the Bonnies came to knocking off UK back in 2000...Tim Winn, Caswell Cyrus, David Messiah Capers and the rest nearly pulled it off. Sigh. -
Good, LOOONG article on this year's draft

Wait a second...THIS year's draft?? Didn't you know we only post draft reports from 2004 (specifically those on a QB out of Tulane) on this board?? -

Out of the girls, I'm rooting for Lindsay to have a good run if only because she's easy on the eyes. (Although the blonde farm girl isn't too bad either...). Out of the guys, I'm rooting for the music teacher with the dreadlocks...Anwar I think his name is. He seems pretty genuine and I thought he sang Moon River pretty well. -
Well the enigma known as GG made a brief appearance to come back and bash me, but still didn't answer the question that everyone wants to know.

Donohoe's Ego Bites Him Again with JP
loadofmularkey replied to JohninMinn.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now we're digging up old 2004 Draft articles to prove our points about Losman?? Give me a break. Did Roethlisberger's pre-draft writeup say, "Has good head on shoulders. Will be ready to lead future NFL team to 15-1 record and appearance in AFC Championship game should starting QB go down early in the season." Losman has thrown exactly five passes in the NFL so far. FIVE. Can we please wait to determine whether or not the kid is going to suceed or fail after he's thrown at least 10? Is it really necessary to dig up old scouting reports?? -
Since GG has decided not to come back and explain this great mystery of life to us, maybe what he's saying is... "Since John Clayton reported it, it probably won't come true...therefore Henry will instead be traded to San Fran??" But I haven't heard any Henry to San Fran rumors, so that's probably not it. This is quite a code he's left for us to crack.

Tom Donahoe Traded a First Ropund Pick For ...

Forgive the lateness of my reply, but by immediately I meant going from 3-13 to 8-8 in the span of a year. -
Tom Donahoe Traded a First Ropund Pick For ...
loadofmularkey replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Okay, so back in April of 2002 were you one of the thousands of Bills fans rejoicing and saying, "FINALLY! WE HAVE A QUARTERBACK WHO CAN PLAY!!!!". I don't have the exact numbers in front of me here, but I think about 96% of Bills Nation felt some sort of optimism when TD made the trade for Bledsoe three years ago. It was absolutely the right move...if you remember, the alternatives were sticking with RJ for another season or Jeff Blake. Yep, Jeff Blake probably would've put Buffalo in the playoffs last year. In retrospect, it was not a good deal and with the exception of his first six games Bledsoe did not suceed here. And now, to your most recent post...Travis Henry and Drew Bledsoe are both gone. That would be relevant if the Bills were planning on going with Joe Burns and Shane Matthews next year. Willis McGahee and JP Losman (two recent first-round picks) will taking their place. As for no first-round picks this year...well heck, they had two last year. They took Evans (who looks like a real player) and Losman (who the jury is still out on, but has been stamped as the QB of the future). Fact of the matter is, since TD took over the reins, this team is better now than it was in 2001 and is poised to make a playoff run. He took a disaster of a defense and acquired the right names to make it one of the best in the league. He made a trade for a QB who was (at the time) still considered to be one of the premier names in the game. It didn't work out, hey that's sports. But while we were sitting through Bledsoe, he used three first-round picks in two years to develop a base for the future in Losman, McGahee and Evans. As previously stated, this team is so much better now than it was in 2001. Which GM would you have preferred to come in here and take care of the cap mess left by Butler and turn this team around immediately?? -
(OT) UB Bulls - Bubble Watch Team!
loadofmularkey replied to duey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What?? There's no way UB would be a 16 seed (or play in that hideous play-in game) if they got in as an at-large. 16 seeds and play-in games are reserved for the schools from prestigous conferences such as the Horizon, Patriot and MEAC. In the past, Mid-American teams (either at-large or conference champs) have been seeded somewhere between 10-13, which would sound about right for UB. Have you seen them play this season?? -
 Oh man, is it that time of the day already?? Okay here we go... Once again, a big ole :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: to John LeClair and the rest of the NHLPA! Thanks guys!

As you may or may not have known, Thompson was still writing columns for ESPN.com's Page 2. His last one was on 2/15/05 and it involved a late-night phone call to Bill Murray about a concept called "Shotgun Golf". The whole call is transcribed and it's definitely an interesting read...to me it sounds as if Murray is just humoring Hunter. But read for yourself: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?id=1992213
