ZZZZZZZZZZZZ, Is it FA period?
loadofmularkey replied to JP-era's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Come on man, you are starting to get worse than Rudy. Don't you think Donahoe knows that he hasn't found a replacement yet for Jennings?? Do you think we could give him more than a week to do so?? Do you really think preseason is going to roll around and TD is going to wake up one day and say, "Aw crap!! I totally forgot about left tackle!!! Dammit!". Law and Franks are long shots to come here seeing as how their names haven't been mentioned in the same breath as Buffalo except for on TBD. As evidenced by free agent visits in the past, just because DeMulling is gone without a contract doesn't mean a damn thing. Good Lord let's at least wait until the draft before we trash the offseason. -
Actually ESPN 2 ran this very fascinating program on Monday night. The thing took place in downtown Buffalo (go figure) in which a college basketball made it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 35 years. Really crazy stuff ESPN is showing these days, I agree. BTW, you are in the minority. The NHLs ratings on ESPN are poor with a capital P (so I guess it would be Poor) and have been getting worse every year. Correct if I'm wrong fellow TBDers but I think women's college hoops beat the NHL in ratings the last few years.

You might want to do something about that. BTW, I love these people refuse to acknowledge the fact that good music was made after 1970. Hold on to the 60s forever man!!!

Jonas Jennings wanted to stay
loadofmularkey replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well Jonas you did get ridiculous money from SF, but I guess that's beside the point. Also, I just remebered something. Does anyone else remember how during the season it was just about assumed that Jennings would be leaving, but he'd going "home" to Atlanta??? Did the Falcons even contact him?? -
Some stats on the QB FA's

You cannot seriously tell us that you'd rather have Charlie Batch, Gus Frerotte or friggin KORDELL over Holcomb. -
Alright let me get this straight. This board has seen OTs about everything from lost dogs to hot chicks to family deaths to advice on relationships to world news to politics to TV shows and someone wants to make a comment about an artist he or she obviously likes and that's not okay??

Last day of Empire Sports Network
loadofmularkey replied to Tom's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh shucks...I guess this means if I want to catch that special on the 1969-70 St. Bonaventure basketball team, last year's Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony, the Bisons championship bash, or the 10 year anniversary program, I have less than 24 hours. -
Hey Jeremy, actually the lyrics are "Whoa-oh there she goes. Watch out boy, she'll chew you up. Whoa-oh there she goes. She's a maneater." So you were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off.

5 teams that could overtake the Pats
loadofmularkey replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Out of all the NFL "experts" out there today I think Prisco is the biggest hack. He lost me for good two years ago when he wrote an article in Week 3 which absolutely TRASHED Donovan McNabb (you may remember McNabb got off to a very slow start that season and Philly was 0-2) saying that he was right in 1999, Philly should've drafted Ricky Williams, McNabb can't play, etc. He got all these garbage quotes from scouts around the league saying, "I told everyone!! McNabb can't cut it in the NFL". Basically he waited a whole two games into the season, saw McNabb underachieve and couldn't wait to toot his own horn. Epilogue: Pete Prisco continues to cover sports for cbs.sportsline.com and wrote no fewer than three columns this year praising Donovan McNabb. A$$hat. -
Tom D should be on the phone with Philly
loadofmularkey replied to Marshmallow's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's fair to say that both Henry and Buckhalter could be considered "injury-prone". The last thing Philly wants is a couple of RBs who could possibly be hurt at the same time. -
Is the NFL radio network on XM only, or is it also on Sirius??
-
Alright then, I defer to the guy with a doctorate in Tailgate Setup. I've had season tickets since 1987 and all this fan knows is that it would appear that tens of thousands of people are coming to the stadium from all directions, meaning that any exposure in or around the stadium would be good exposure. But if you say that a majority of the crowd all come and go from one direction, and that one direction happens to go right past/through your lot, then I humbly apologize.
-
Hammer, they didn't need a hook. All they would say is, "Come visit the WGR Pregame Tailgate at _________________, we'll be giving away _____________, and cooking up some _____________________" and guess what. People will come because they hear it on the radio and they really don't give a damn if Hammer's name is attatched to it or not. There are 72,000 people filing into that stadium on Sundays and people are going to visit them no matter where they are. It's not like they did the show from Hot Dog Heaven in West Seneca. Get over it already.

AFC East teams have not improved
loadofmularkey replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Adding Jordan and Moss definitely helps, but they don't have a QB. Collins was mediocre at best last season and who knows how much longer the suddenly injury-prone Gannon will be around? If they decide not to make a move at QB, I could definitely see Randy getting fed up sometime around Week 5. As far as Jordan goes, here's a guy who's never had more than 100 carries in a season. I know he was decent last year in a part-time role with C. Martin but until he proves me wrong, Jordan (to me) is just another RB similar to what Oakland has been using for the last couple years. The Zeroue-Wheatley-Garner mold. All I'm saying is, until Oakland gets a QB and Jordan can show that he's the 1,000 yard rusher they're hoping he is...I don't really think they've improved. -
I would have no problems with O'le Whitey
loadofmularkey replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. For every pick like Reed, Wire or Denney you get picks like McGahee, Evans, Clements, McGee and even though they're gone/on the way out...Jennings and Henry. TD has made some bad picks, he's also made some picks that have been right on the money. Let's hope Losman turns out to be one of his best. -

Really? Who's going to throw him the ball? Who's going to run the ball? -

Four days into the free agent "bonanza", I challenge you to name a single team that has already improved. -

I don't get it. Are you implying that TD is a bad drafter?? -
Don't know where you get your info, but the latest book (fall book) showed WGR has having its best ratings in three years. Obviously they benefitted from the demise of 107.7 and an exciting Bills season and the addition of Howard Simon...so it'll be interesting to see what the dropoff will be in the winter book.
-
I haven't listened to WGR much but could their stance have been "Get rid of Bledsoe but bring in somebody else...?" They, like most Bills fans, were probably calling for Bledsoe's head but maybe not with the assumption that Losman would be starting right away. I really don't know, I'm not trying to defend them, just trying to decipher their thoughts.
-
They don't talk about the Bills but god damn, Don & Mike are hilarious and a pleasant alternative to sports radio. (3-7pm Mon-Fri, 92.9 WBUF).

Acting first, or fast, isn't always smart

"BUT THAT STILL HASN'T EXPLAINED WHY WE HAVEN'T SIGNED ANYBODY YET!!!!!! WE COULD'VE HAD ANTONION PIERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRCE!!!!!!!!!""""""""" Yeah. -
You're a trip Rudy. The one time you might actually have semi-cause to get all worked up about something and you don't take advantage of it. Ferguson's departure (which, granted, was imminent) opens up a nice, big hole in that D-line for Pat Williams.

Sorry if this has already been posted in a previous PW/JJ thread, I didn't take the time to look. There's an article on WGRs website citing Newsday as saying that the Jets are closing in on Jennings. It also cites the Newark Star-Ledger as reporting that the Jets are looking to meet with Williams, possibly as early as today. http://www.wgr550.com/fullstory.php?id=0721
