Top Story on 11pm Channel 7 news
loadofmularkey replied to loadofmularkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's what Jeff Russo said. -
The top story on the Channel 7 11:00 newscast tonight was...Jim Haslett has not yet been interviewed by the Bills but told Channel 7 that he has made informal contact with team officials. Top story. Not in sports. Top story overall. I am serious. Holy God.

There's also something to be said for starting over fresh. Not just with a new team but with a team and a city and a fan base that he was once a part of. Getting the hell out of New Orleans and coming back to Buffalo might be just what Haslett needs. I'm willing to find out.

Eric Mangina Gets Offered Jets Job
loadofmularkey replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Damn. I was hoping the Jets would land that prize catch known as Mike Tice. -
Lord...of course it makes sense for the Bills. So does trading Tim Anderson for Dwight Freeney. It doesn't mean the other team will be all that willing to do it. I think teams have been hesitant to swap first-rounders for decent players since Donahoe burned Atlanta back in 2003. Travis Henry was a 1,000-yard rusher more than once and the Bills were finally able to get a third-round pick for him. I mean, your ideas look great on paper but I don't see anyone trading a first-rounder for Clements. And you still haven't made it clear how Buffalo would go about landing D'Brickshaw with either the #8 pick or the ficitional first-rounder received from Cincy. Ferguson is more than likely going in the top five.

And where the hell did Shane Matthews go?????

ESPN didn't give any love to the NHL even when it had the broadcast rights. During the months of Feb-Mar, you'd still routinely get NBA, NCAA hoops and even spring training highlights before you got NHL coverage on SportsCenter. I hope the league does well on NBC. I watched yesterday's coverage and it was promising.

Mort on Countdown (reading between the lines)
loadofmularkey replied to GG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's curious that you keep calling it "inpatient". Talk about reading into things. Attatching "wanting to win now" right after calling him "impatient" isn't necessarily a shot at Ralph. -
If you're trading Clements to CIN for their first-rounder, how do you expect to land D. Ferguson?

surprised-no talk here about marv's first screwup
loadofmularkey replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right because between the comings and goings at OBD and the Sabres' season, there's really nothing going on. I'm not sure what Marv was thinking on Friday, but if he had come out and said, "Absolutely not" as Wilson did, the two never would've even had to put out press releases 24 hours later. -
For everyone who doesn't want Haz or martz

Well I will. Although I can't guarantee this post won't suck. Fassell is definitely at the top of my list. He's got an attitude which I think the Bills desparately need. Two things about Fassel's tenure in NY stick out to me: 1) Shaking things up by placing starters on a terrible ST unit 2) Promising his team will be in the playoffs midway through the 2000 season. It would be one thing if the team didn't respond to that and he ended up looking like a fool, but they did respond by going on a tear and ending up in the SB. Fassell's offense (Payton's as well) was very good and I wouldn't have a problem with either of them. -

Good comeback. What's next, a yo-momma-so-fat joke?? Thanks for taking part in the discussion. Incase it was unclear to you (which clearly it was since you took such exception to my parody) my question is, what's the point of throwing out names that have snowballs chances in hell of coming here? The reality is, we are faced with names such as: Haslett, Sherman, Martz, Cottrell, Gray, Payton, et al. Chances are good that one of those guys will be the next HC. So which do you prefer?? If you want to answer reasonably, I'll be around. If you wanna keep posting insults, I'll be around for that too. Till then, lighten up Shirley. -

Hey, it's who I want. -

Yes but why bother discussing realistic candidates when it's clear they all suck? For the record, I'd love Parcells, Belicheck, Bill Walsh, Scotty Bowman, Ara Parseghian, and the ghost of Vince Lombardi. I realize those aren't very realistic, but those would be my top choices. -

Wait a second. You're one of the ones who said NO NO NO and NO to Haslett, Sherman, Martz and Gray. Who would you like as HC anyway?? -

And if this guy is going to use crackers to get around, why not Town House? Not HC material. -
"In order to clear up any misunderstanding from my comments at Friday's press conference regarding the position of head coach for the Buffalo Bills, I want to say unequivocally that I am here to serve as the General Manager/Football Operations. At the press conference announcing the resignation of Mike Mularkey we were prepared to talk about that issue only and therefore I was not prepared to talk about any coaching candidates at that time. I regret that I was not more specific in stating that I will not be serving in a coaching capacity. I am excited about my new responsibilities as General Manager and, as planned, will devote my full energies to that role." -- Marv Levy on BB.com as of a few minutes ago Hopefully that ends the Levy as HC talk for good.

They put out a V-Coach for that??

That's just it. With the minor exception of Ferentz, those are unrealistic choices. Everyone is complaining about Haslett, Martz, Sherman, etc. but those are the names that are out there like it or not. -
Haslett 90% chance of become HC
loadofmularkey replied to billsboys's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would think that by agreeing to an interview, Payton is expressing interest. Your ignorance (or is naivety?) is getting to be funny at this point. Teams not dealing with other teams because they supposedly don't like each other?? Huh?? What planet did you just arrive from?? -
No kidding. "We want Mularkey and Donahoe GONE". Okay they're gone. "Not good enough!! It wasn't handled correctly!!" Okay, well let's move on and find a head coach. How about Haslett? "NO" How about Sherman? "NO" How about Martz? "NO" Well I thought we wanted somebody with head coaching experience. "We do! But none of those guys! We want Belicheck or Parcells!" They're not available. "How about Kirk Ferentz???" He's staying at Iowa and BTW he doesn't have HC experience. "That doesn't matter anymore!!" The double-talk and condradictions are getting to be almost hysterical. It reminds of the line from Springfield's own Mayor Quimby..."Are these morons getting dumber or just louder?"
