Plugging holes with veterans doesn’t always work out. Borderline teams can’t expect to grab 3-4 big ticket FA’s/proven veterans and expect a huge turnaround. Teams like the Bills can grab one of two and push themselves over the top. Unless there is a trade where we reduce cap to add the new cap hit, Beane isn’t shopping any more. He clearly has stated his draft picks are important because they fit the cap, especially someone who is a starter or backup who plays a lot. That’s why I could see him jump up in the first round, especially to get a CB who will play the next few years at a lower cap hit. I see a mid round pick if anything because of the reduced salaries there versus the top of the round.

NYS state budget meeting with regards to new stadium.

They may huff and puff against the stadium, but last weeks announcement would not have been made if they didn’t have the votes. -
Anyone have Spectrum streaming TV or Spectrum wireless?
davefan66 replied to davefan66's topic in Off the Wall
It works on Samsung, which I have. Limited for sure on streaming devices. The $50 is for 12 months. That’s all they do, at least for me. Hate begging every year for that discount and Sunday Ticket, worth getting the discounts hate the rigmarole. That’s one of the reasons I’m checking alternatives. Spectrum TV is bundled with my internet and phone and comes to $65 the first year and $80 thereafter. Liked Verizon coverage better than ATT for sure. Not sure the coverage for Spectrum cellular is great using the Verizon towers though. Seems as if people have trouble with 5G and strength. Probably not switching phones, doesn’t seem to make much sense. -
Anyone have spectrum streaming TV or their wireless phones and can offer any insight and reviews? Directv bill out of hand and looking into streaming services. Directv bill around $190 without my $50/month discount. Spectrum streaming TV around $80 for the same channels. Only reason I keep Directv is for Sunday ticket, specifically Redzone. Spectrum has Redzone but with Scott Hansen. As much as I love Andrew Siciliano, I can’t justify paying the monthly bill anymore. I have received the ticket for free many times, and as paid as little as a $100 but am tired of the dance every year trying to get it for free. The TV service I can trial and see if I like. Will be doing so along with Sling, YouTube TV and Fubo. Had Sling for a few months when I was having trouble with streaming Directv to my phone and didn’t hate it. All seem to be around the same,PPE price with varying DVR storage and base/ala cart channels. Sling seems to have the least number of channels at that price. My main concern is the wireless service. They use the Verizon network with the cost being $30/per line (including fees) for unlimited talk, text and data which is throttled at 20 GB. Cost is $40/per line throttled at 30 GB. Will be checking with ATT to see what our usage has been. I hate Spectrum customer service and am concerned they are too new to cell service to offer proper tech support. Edit: Thinking about it, part of the cost of ATT is upgrading phones. Can be 20 to 50 bucks depending on phone and trade in value of old phone. Have phone cost that needs to be figured into the Spectrum rates. Doesn’t seem it as cost effective as I thought. Overall I’m paying $190 ($140 with discount) for Directv and $230 for 4 lines at ATT for a total cost of $420/month before the discount. I could drop it all to around $200 bucks for TV and phones through Spectrum. Appreciate anyone who has these or knows anyone to give me some insight. Thanks.

Not sure how I feel about this rule. Yeah, it would have helped us in the chiefs game, but moving forward will the chance benefit or hurt us? And why not the regular season? What if a team needs a win last game of the season to get in and a non-playoff bound team wins the toss and wins the game on a walk off TD? How is that fair that the very next week same scenario and both teams get the ball? This may be an unpopular statement but if the Bills had done the right thing at the end of the 4th, we wouldn’t have this rule change.

Bills match Bears Offer Sheet for Ryan Bates, 4 yr deal
davefan66 replied to nato7412's topic in The Stadium Wall
Glad we kept him. Prefer we keep our own guys than shop for guys that may not be as good. I wonder why the Bears didn’t front load the contract more? Seems another 1 to 1.5 million this year may have tipped the scales to the Bears. Glad it worked out for us though. -
Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins Passes Away at 50
davefan66 replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in Off the Wall
RIP. Love the Foo Fighters. Even thought David Grohl is a hell of a presence, Hawkins was a huge part of the DNA of the band. Impossible to replace. Gonna miss the dude. -
I believe the Bills would make a decision sooner if they know they are not keeping him. They’ve run all the scenarios and have a plan. Probably will be front loaded and tough to keep him. Don’t know how much more restructuring Beans wants to do. Plus, he most likely wants some decent cap reserve for injuries. Don’t see him sitting at the available cap space.

Looming Stefon Diggs Contract situation - What do you do?
davefan66 replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beane Will let it play out this season. If he has a great season, then the man gets paid by someone. If he’s subpar, he may be had at a lessor price. I get teams with cap space are spending like drunken sailors looking to “win now”. Couple that with the expected jump in the cap over the next few years, and huge contacts will be the norm. If we could backload a contract, we’d be able to keep him. Not something you’d do for a 29 YO receiver. Unless he takes a hometown discount, he won’t be on the team next year. No way we can afford him. One more year and maybe we’d see enough cap jump to sign him. But would you want to pay top tier WR money for him then? It probably will be driven up even more. -
Al Michaels/Kirk Herbstreit to headline Amazon's TNF
davefan66 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not a fan of Michael’s, but he should be tolerable without Collinsworth. . -
Good pickup by the Colts at a lower price than I would have thought. See Ryan as a one or two year option for them. Baker has to be angry at himself for how badly he played this one. Thought he could shame the Browns into a trade to another team and the browns GM says no and then gets watson. With all this movement mayfield doesn’t have many places to go. I see maybe Seattle trading for him and an outside shot of the Panthers. If he gets released I think that opens the pool a little and could see the Giants and maybe Dolphins as dark horses.

Love how much he loves Bills Mafia! He gets excited every time he says it!

Was watching the Bills/WFT game from last season. McKissic didn’t seem to be all that special. Don’t see he would have been our RB2. That being said, Moss had a heck of a game.

The players have a union. Coaches aren’t in it. NFLPA wouldn’t allow a non-union person to come in and get paid for doing the players work,

2022 Free Agency - Around the NFL Thread

I’d wonder if we have the cap space. After this week, anything is possible! -
Matt Barkley Back? (Yep! deal not yet known)
davefan66 replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Trubisky was a luxury at backup. Doesn’t work that way in the NFL. Beane and Co. know how to build a roster and won’t toss a scrub behind Josh. It’ll be some one with ability who comes at a good price and would give the Bills a chance in case of short term emergency. I’d be very surprised if Barkley is number two. -
Deshaun Watson to Browns - $230 million guaranteed
davefan66 replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’d be surprised if he’d publicly ask to be traded to the Colts unless there has been feelers. Problem is they don’t have a first this year. I’m sure the Browns made the trade for watson expecting knowing they’d get pics for mayfield. Is he worth a first? Doubtful. But in todays NFL, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did. He has shown flashes and maybe a guy like Reich could save his career. The Texans D when he was playing was very good, doesn’t Thisbe that in Cleveland. -
Deshaun Watson to Browns - $230 million guaranteed
davefan66 replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Disgusting how this sweepstakes played out. Surprised by the number of teams that openly tried to get him with his legal issues. That being said, he doesn’t scare me. We lost in the playoffs to him with a 2nd year Josh and a defense not as good as our current one. Josh is true pro in every sense and hasn’t hit his ceiling yet. Watson is who he is and won’t be taking the Browns to anything special. -
Trading Edmunds makes no sense at this point
davefan66 replied to bubba2018's topic in The Stadium Wall
He isn’t going anywhere. Yeah, could be better but I expect better play out of him with and upgraded d-line. When the d-line does their job, less responsibility at the 2nd level. -
RIP. Was one of the first dedicated NFL reporters I recall. Seemed like a good dude, didn’t take himself too seriously.

I believe they targeted Von from the beginning. Especially if he reached out to them. Both team got through the initial free agent frenzy window, to the period you reach out to your own more. LA tried, Buffalo was in his ear. Buffalo was his choice based on money and Josh. And yes, McKissic was not the deciding factor. You don’t clear cap space and change philosophy to target a single guy that quickly. McKissics contract $$$ had no impact on the Bills ability to sign Von. Plenty of players to approach on a restructure.
