Thoughts on the Cusp of a Magical Season
davefan66 replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall
Different feeling this year with how we ended last year. Truly felt we would have won the SB if we had beaten the chiefs. Felt last year we could go all the way, and didn’t want loses, but they could happen. This year? Winning most is expected and needed for home field. -
Our new punter will be (Update pg. 38 - Martin Signed)
davefan66 replied to JMM's topic in The Stadium Wall
Did Kern say no to us, or did the Bills not really pursue? Talking to a player doesn’t mean real interest, just putting out feelers maybe? Is Kern the better of the two? Martin is a very good punter, stats wise an improvement over Haack. Could really care less if Kern really did “spurn” us. After the problems at punter this past week, the Bills ended up better than could have hoped. -
He’s a 7 year vet. Could have a gentleman’s agreement to be resigned shortly?

When you have a loaded team, tough for anyone to crack the roster, even drafted players. Especially a later round like Tenuta.

Talent attracts talent.

It’s a crap shoot for those front offices that know what they are doing. The Raiders on the other hand were not a functional front office.

Hurt, or “hurt”?
-
Saw that. Don’t think they’d give him a nameplate and boot him. I gather this is new for him.
-
Weird they would take the cap hit and resign him. What are the dollars saved here? Whatever it is, he’s not worth bringing back.
-
Conjecture? Tasked and Brown are tools, can see them throwing that out there. Right now they are talking about niners QB stuff.
-
No, cut and stash on their PS. I believe the same thing he did with the Bills last year. I believe he is an immediate free agent.

Somewhat disappointed about a Howard. Was excited when we signed him, but less so after discussions here about him. Seemed to be a good player, but wasn’t as good as people thought. Sanders was not a great addition last year. Feel he took snaps from Davis who would have done just fine at WR2. Give me Bease 2 years ago, feel McKenzie and Shakir will be good in the slot role. Don’t see Crowder making the team, hasn’t done enough. I feel they should be good at WR, having Josh as your QB makes everyone else that much better. Like you said, only time will tell.

Rehashing his subdued response when drafted? Been discussed here ad nauseum. Nope, kid wants to be here.

Sanu has dropped off significantly since his promising season int ATL. I was surprised that anyone had signed him. Never cracked 1000 and hasn’t done anything since 2019.

I’ll take the over! Many threads already here talking about our own fringe players that gotta stay and how good our roster is (I’m guilty). Yet, every player released will be scrutinized as to why Beane needs to “Git ‘er done”. All kidding aside, it is really great not having to seriously look at other teams trash as an upgrade to the Bills roster as we had done for years.

I feel Bernard makes the team, not a slam dunk. He looked awful on a couple of pass coverages. I’d expect they could hide it somewhat with starters, 2nd’s around him and a true regular season game plan. Dude has a high motor and looks really good at the line covering the run, blitzing. I hope his pass coverage breakdowns are an anomaly, and more of a function of vanilla defense and playing with 2nd and 3rd tier players and those who will be cut. Regarding the OP’s question: Feel Shaq makes the team. Shakir has been great, Crowder can go. Cook didn’t look as good last game versus Duke, but will make the team. Black shear is a gamer and I really like him, won’t make the cut. Sweeney makes the team. Keep Morris. OJ Howard can go, kinda feel playing as late in the game as he did doesn’t bode well for him.

McDermott/Beane press conference 8/27: Matt Araiza released
davefan66 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills did the right thing, and handled it mostly appropriately. Poor judgement on verbiage of press release for one. I don’t believe Beane was disingenuous at all. He can only say what he can say. He can’t say anything regarding either a criminal or civil case. He can’t say anything bad about the player, the NFLPA wouldn’t allow it. He verbalized what he could say. His actions and demeanor spoke volumes. Especially Coach McD. -
Matt Araiza accused of rape, served with a lawsuit.

Sean is a religious man. I’m sure prayers to Matt is one of two things, one that he not be judged erroneously and two, if he feels he is culpable that Matt does the right thing moving forward. I’m not a deeply religious guy, just my thoughts. -

I don’t think Beane would do that. I do agree with others that he’s not happy with the results of the PI’s investigation. Maybe that’s were a differing of opinions happened?
