Anyone think this isnt the new bubonic plaque?
Fartacus replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Difference is, if my next door neighbor has the Bubonic Plague then chances are, I and my family are going to catch it. If he has AIDS, we're pretty much safe. I always wondered why there was so much $$$ going to AIDS research that should have been going to cancer. The AIDS $$$ is better spent on education and prevention. -
Oakland gets worse on D, gives up its first rounder for a guy with TREMENDOUS talent but is by all accounts a turd. He may prove to be more trouble than he's worth. In other words, a perfect Raider. They're still too far away to compete however.

I believe that ship has already left port and is steaming towards Canton. -

Since when have the Pats ever been interested in signing the "big names"? They dont seem to go ga-ga over big name guys. That formula has worked pretty well for them to this point. Who are we to argue it? -
Nobody knows what the monster is but Charlie said giraffe because in the first episode where it takes the pilot right out of the plane and sounds VERY LARGE, he assumed that the monster must be very tall. My first thought was T-Rex but apparently, thats not the case.

We're not losing any ground in the AFC East

Until I see the team actually ANNOUNCE a certain player is gone, I'll believe it. The Pats have lost Ty Law Roman Phifer Joe Andruzzi Troy Brown (who could resign at a lower rate) Both Coordinators Jets lost Ferguson Lamont Jordan Bills lost Pat Williams Jonas Jennings -
I'm sure 23 means something. Not sure if anyone has figured it out yet or if it has presented itself.

Mmm Hmmm Sling Blade -
Teams are best built through the draft. Whats the sense of panicking and overspending on free agents who may or may not help your team? Alvin Harper anyone?

The 4th book of the Bible Chapter 8 Verse 15-16 deals with firstborn children - ie Claire getting kidnapped. 8:15 And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them for an offering. 8:16 For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every womb, even instead of the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.

The reward for being "team player" in New England
Fartacus replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thats SOP in the NFL. Any team that believes otherwise is usually left in the dust. -
Chris Hovan is all talk, no walk. If the defensively challenged Vikings cut him that tells you something. RUN AWAY!! Lots of DT depth in the draft. You can never have enough quality D-Linemen.

It would be quite gullible of anyone to believe that Most if not all NFL teams treat this like a business and cut players whom they feel arent living up to their contracts. Regarding the Pats ownership, IIRC, didnt Kraft finance that stadium with 100% of his own money and then elected not to charge PSL's? The guy has won 3 of the last 4 Super Bowls and demand is VERY high there. It would be stupid not to raise prices. Simple economics. The transfer thing is a bit dopey but again, no PSLs come with a price I guess. -
Thats why we're supposed to wear those tin foil hats.

Outside of that game, how many passes did he catch for them? Do many of you forget this is a business? Both the owners and players realize this. Troy Brown was cut early which actually helps him. -
I guess we disagree because I see it differently. I'm sure a lot of us thought Law would get cut LAST year. He had like a 12 million dollar cap hit this year. Being sentimental about players is what gets you into cap trouble. Players know its a business. I think if guys like Law and Brown who were perennial Patriots were cut a la Milloy, you'd be on to something.
-
From what I read, Brown's cap hit was 5 million bucks. Thats a lot for a guy his age.
-
One cannot equate coaches finally getting the promotions they've long deserved for "jumping ship" As far as "players getting tossed" This happens to every team right? Players who no longer perform to the level of their contracts get the cut for salary cap reasons. Would you rather us be the Colts and pay out exorbitant contracts year in/year out and continually fail to address certain needs? Or would you rather us be one of those teams like the Redskins/Niners/Titans who pay all the money and do okay for a few years and then have to go through a couple years or more of salary cap hell? In my opinion, cutting these guys now is actually doing them a favor (I believe Ty Law even said as much that he was greatful that Belicheck cut him early) so they can try and get the best offers they can from other teams. Lets not let bitterness and jealousy get in the way of facts and reality.
