  1. Not only was he a great player, but I think I remember him being real happy when he got a check for the throwback jerseys. I read that somewhere and it gave me a laugh.
  2. The days of taking a tight end or wide receiver with a #1 pick are over. Last years draft was a sign of the times.
  3. The primary change in Miami was the QB. I'm not saying the others were not a factor. If you check the records teams have their best years when they have their best QBs. History proves it. Chuck Noll didn't really win without Terry Bradshaw.
  4. But it doesn't cover his butt as far as fans are concerned. BTW, I'm a Bronco fan, so I really like the extra win.
  5. Your thoughts mirror my thoughts. Most guys that could play running back in the NFL that are white end up playing fullback or tight end. They also get moved to linebacker. I was wondering who that guy was that played for Michigan. I didn't know his name. When I was at Michigan State they had a guy named Blake Ezor that was quicker than a cat. I think he lasted one year in the NFL with the Broncos. He was little, so they didn't want him as far as I could see. I think the biggest thing the NFL is looking for is break away speed. And most white guys lack that. But how good is that when a player can't find holes? Too many running backs can't find holes. Earnest Graham of Tampa Bay has an uncanny ability to find open holes. He may lack ideal speed but he's Tampa's best running back. I watched him get switched to fullback this year and it was great watching their other backs follow him to the open holes.
  6. I knew someone would catch this. Because it's rare to see white players playing running back and I think there are a lot of white guys that could play RB . . . but coaches think it's a black players position. I don't miss comparing white or black. I thought Wayne Chrebet was better than MeShawn Johnson with the Jets and they were both possession receivers. Have you noticed how the black guys on NFL network never blame the black guy. Coaches, QBs etc. etc.
  7. Why is that? The thought crossed my mind and I didn't look it up. The Bronks had to beat SF at home to make the playoffs in Cutler's 1st year and they lost.
  8. What is the NFL going to say about Ed Hochuli? Both teams would split? What's the tie breaker.
  9. It would not surprise me. When you give up 140 plus per game on the ground, you can lose to anyone.
  10. I would tend to agree, however, a good QB can overcome a bad owner. Kurt Warner with the Cardinals even though they have Bill Bidwell make the playoffs this year. Brett Farve with Green Bay . . . they were terrible until they got him. Miami Dolphins improved their QB situation and they improved.
  11. Denver's Peyton Hillis is everything people said Brian Leonard would be and I think he's a little better than Leonard. Granted Leonard got hurt and was put on IR but Hillis came on like gang busters. And it's not really a surprise if you look at the draft publications that came out on Hillis. All had him high rated as a fullback. He had a great day against the Jets this year and they have a great run defense. He's a great north south runner.
  12. It would not surprise me if the Bronocos go 8-8 on the year. They have one of the worst run defenses in the league and when that happens it's hard to get over 8 wins a year. I'll be honest, though, the Broncos have been fun to watch the last few years because every game goes down to the wire. My Bronks are down to their 20th string running back and they still manage to look pretty good on offense. The 8-8 playoff year for Denver would be a payback for the 1985 year when Cleveland went to the playoffs with an 8-8 record and Denver went something like 11-5 and missed the playoffs. Bernie Kosar and Dan Marino in the playoffs that year in Flordia.
  13. I think you hit the nail on the head. McNabb has been a winner but he hasn't demonstrated consistent accuracy throughout his career and he has 3100 rushing yards in his career which meant he was like Vince Young when he was younger. I don't think he's ever been in the top passing yards year after year. I'd have to look that up and I will after the game. But rushing for 3100 yards doesn't help passing stats.
  14. Yes, I think we've had this discussion before and you are right. Let's put it this way, I think I like the older McNabb a lot better than the younger McNabb.
  15. Aikman proved himself and his ability to throw in the playoffs. Don't get me wrong, Aikman had a lot of help. But he also had to deal with all those distractions of the 90's Cowboys.
  16. I really don't like Culpepper that much and he's had too many rush attempts like McNabb has had in the past. But Culpepper does throw the ball well. McNabb has 3100 rushing yards in his career. He has not been that good of a QB throughout his career he was more of a running back. How many rushing yards does Peyton Manning have? McNabb has been comparing himself to Manning and I don't think he should do that. He needs to quit being so full of himself and stop talking to the media and play football. '
  17. Can you back that McNabb has been a top 5 QB in the league for 10 years. I don't think that's a valid point. He's only thrown for over 30 TDs like one time.
  18. I think Buffalo would have been better off going after Daunte Culpepper than Donovan McNabb. Culpepper would have been a lot cheaper than McNabb and McNabb is getting a little too old to give up a #1 pick. Plus McNabb strings together some terrible games every year.
  19. On their website. "The Arena Football League Board of Directors will suspend the 2009 season subject to agreement and cooperation with the Arena Football League Players Assocication while the league works on developing a long-term plan to improve its economic model." "As a four-year owner of the Georgia Force, I have enjoyed our affiliation with the Arena Football. In addition, our club is very proud of its leadership position in the league in many areas on and off the field," said Arthur Blank "We want that to continue for our fans, so we support the decision to focus our energies on securing the long-term success of the AFL." Although it is disappointing to suspend the 2009 season, the AFL and its owners feel it is essential to reevaluate the current business model to ensure the livelihood of the AFL in the future", said John Elway.
  20. Also a good post. But education doesn't really matter. It really doesn't. Industry officials perfer employees who have been in that industry. And all industries tend to want to hire people that have been in that industry. I have a college degree and I applied for a property management job and I got a rejection letter. It said other applicants had property management experience. It's really that simple. UAW workers have experience that a police department would look for. 1. They work for a big company with a lot of employees. 2. They work for a company that has a lot of red tape. 3. They have attendance requirements that rival a policemen. 4. They take orders in a top down culture . . . just like police . . . that's why police like a military background. 5. I could go on and on.
  21. Good post. I think all your points are valid, however it's still an option for big three employees. I did a little checking and the city of Houston is paying 43K for police and the city of Long Beach is hiring. Many cities are hiring. If these UAW workers can work for the big three, I'm sure they can pass interviews, background checks, pych exams, drug tests. These people don't fit the image that their getting from the radicals on this board. The older UAW people would not qualify according to the city of Houston website. You have to be younger than 44 years.
  22. I've stayed out of the last anti-union thread, but I did read all of the childish anti-union posts from several posters on these pages. And trust me you've outdone yourself. Saying union employees would only get a job for $8 dollars an hour "because that's all their worth" is childish. When I was in living in Arizona the Phoenix PD had billboards all over town begging for new police. The Arizona republic was running stories about how police departments all over the country were desperate for new police officiers and that they were taking people into the police academy that had criminal backgrounds because that's all they could get. A Phoenix police officier asked me if I would consider a career in law enforcement. I was self-employed as a ticket broker (scalper) when he asked. He told me he made 48K as a rookie. Granted, many police departments all over the country are laying off during this economic crisis, but when things get better, they'll start hiring again because our police departments are aging and there's going to be a need for new police.
  23. I don't like Ralph Wilson's management either . . . but this post reminds me of what people in Phoenix used to say about Bill Bidwell. The Cardinals never had a good quarterback, after Jim Hart until they got Jake Plummer and then Kurt Warner. They went to the playoffs with both those QBs.
  24. I noticed this the other day and it is a great thing. Glad you mentioned it.
  25. The Arena football season is back on for 2009. I guess some owners want to suspend operations but after a conference call the season is back on and going to happen . . . but that could change. These guys are knuckleheads.
