  1. When I'm talking about hedging, I'm talking about trying to win half of the $2,500. The problem with this is the odds and the lines. If it ends of being Pittsburgh -1 over Arizona in the Superbowl, I would take Pittsburgh for the $1,100 to win $1000. That way, I would get a free $1000 rather than nothing if Pittsburgh simply wins the game. If Arizona wins them I win $2,500 minus the $1100. If it ends up being Pittsburgh -7 and they win but don't cover them I'm out both. You have to hope for a small point spread. Or I could bet the remaining teams as was explainded above. Arizona is now 5-1 to win. I think Philly is 3-1 or 2-1. Pittsburgh you win around $133 for every $100 bet. Baltimore is 7 to 2, I think.
  2. Because they played great last year. They lost to the Saints which blew their chances at a spot in the playoffs. Plus I think they lost that OT game last year against the 49ers that also cost them. I saw nothing but upside. As explained above, I'm going to hedge the bet to get the $50 back. Or I could bet $1000 on Philadelphia to win on the money line and I would win $500. The money line is $200 to win $100. But I don't have the $1000. So, I let it ride. I've been doing this for years. Since 1997. I stood to win about $60,000 in 1998 on Buffalo to win the Superbowl. I think I got it at 60-1 and 80-1. It kept dropping as the season wore on. I think I got it at 26-1 before I stopped. I made a small hedge when Buffalo played Miami. But it didn't cover what I had in the bets. Miami wins and I'm ticked. I was going to hedge big time if Buffalo went to Denver. It didn't happen as we all know. I also had Miami at around 25-1 or 19-1 something like that. But I didn't have that much into the ticket. Also in 1998, I took the Cardinals at 100-1 or 200-1 to win the Superbowl to win around $36,000. I hedged that one when the Cardinals went to Dallas and beat them in the playoffs. But I didn't put huge money down. I also hedged when they went to Minnesota and lost. I think I got most of the money back on the tickets.
  3. Bidwell was promised a new domed stadium before he moved the team. I guess his mistake was believing the people when they told him they'd build a stadium. The whole issue in St. Louis was the stadium. Bidwell said, in interviews, that the people who promised the new stadium don't live in Phoenix any longer. He had to get the stadium voted for. Plus it was recommended that premiums be placed on the tickets, based on seat location. At the time, the Cardinals tickets had the highest priced tickets in the league. Bidwell admitted he made mistakes (ticket prices) and he should have lowered the prices instead of letting the market catch up to the price. When I moved there in 1995, the media had poisoned so many peoples minds, it was beyond repair until a new indoor stadium was built.
  4. Hey man I bet it's fun in AZ. I'd like to see all those Cardinal hats being sold.
  5. I stand by my post because the decision was based on about 7 bad games. He set records, won SB and took the team to another SB and they get rid of him. Retarded.
  6. The surprises keep coming. This Bronco fan thinks he's too young.
  7. The posts are fine. Your patience is wearing thin. Follow me on this. When the Cardinals hired Buddy Ryan, alot of Arizona fans thought that Joe Bugal should have been retained. A lot of fans wanted him gone because he was too much of a cheerleader. Take your pick. Then they wanted Buddy Ryan out of there after one season and that was just stupid. They fired him after his second season. The fans didn't give Ryan a chance and then they hired Tobin. The media called Tobin "Mr. Beige" because he had no personality and the fans hated him. Tobin took over he did everything he could to get rid of Buddy Ryan players, even though those players helped win a playoff game a few years down the road. He also got rid of some Bugal players which was retarded. Arizona loved Dave McGinnis and he did find some players, but I don't think McGinnis was happy with Jake Plummer. They kept brining in players but it didn't work. In my mind he didn't have enough time, but his offense wasn't any good so they got rid of him because the fans wanted him gone. Dennis Green did the most with the players. I don't know what happened there because I moved away. I didn't think they should have fired him, but fans wanted him gone (from the Arizona papers). They should have shot him in the back yard for benching Kurt Warner. My whole point is that Bidwell did things people wanted and then they bashed him for losing. They blamed Bidwell for the poor crowds, when the problem was the stadium. I could go on and on. Plus, Bidwell doesn't try to weasel out of paying coaches, like the Bills owner does.
  8. Good post. Teams need to play by the rules as they are. Win more games and win your division and it doesn't matter what other teams do.
  9. With the Cardinals a sneeze away from the Superbowl, I wonder where all the stories are about how Bill Bidwell is responsible for the Cardinals woes. In truth, Michael Bidwell, Bill's son has done everything right. The old man still has to say yes and he's still cheap but they got it done. Michael signed big names (coaches and players), got rid of jerk off players. And he got the stadium done when the polls showed 2 to 1 against it. I went to almost every Cardinal game between 1995 to 2004 and it was the QB, not the owner.
  10. I did put money on the Cardinals last night and I bet them to win the Superbowl back in the summertime. I have the Cardinals for $50 at 50-1 odds. I'm going to hedge my bet. I don't know how much, but I can't hedge the whole amount because I don't have that kind of cash lying around. I also took Carolina to win the Superbowl back in the summertime and also before the playoffs started, so I didn't really care who won last night. But I did think Carolina would win. I thought they'd have a tough time winning by 11 points.
  11. You know nothing about the position of quarterback.
  12. You forgot to add Tim Tebow to that list!
  13. Not sure what you mean by this . . . but I was thinking about Dennis Green. I wonder how he feels now. He drafted Larry Fitzgerald, brought in Kurt Warner and drafted Darnell Dockett, Antrel Rolle. The list goes on and on. Did he draft Boldin also?
  14. I'm beginning to think that Arizona can make the Superbowl. Kurt Warner can beat any defense. He's just so confident that he can complete passes down field. The Rams have to be the dumbest team in the history of the NFL, for letting Kurt Warner go. I have $50 at 50-1 odds for Arizona to win the Superbowl.
  15. I'm a big Jake Delhomme fan, but the game does rest on his shoulders. He had the worst game of his career.
  16. In his defense. Delhomme won a ton of big games for them throwing the ball . . . but the Cardinals are nothing to write home about against the run, although, they are better than Carolina. The Cardinals strength on defense is the athletes they have in the secondary. I do think the gameplan makes no sense. And it's the dumbest gameplan I've seen in awhile. I hope it doesn't cost him his job. They did mention that on NFL Network.
  17. Tebow doesn't have a better arm than Flutie. You're crazy if you think so. What Flutie had was a "live arm". Tebow doesn't have that. Flutie threw the ball with very tight rotation, which indicates natural talent. During the 2001 season, one of the TV announcers said that Flutie's rotation was abnormally high and he thought it was the rubber gloves Flutie wore. He speculated that the NFL would make it against the rules to wear the gloves Flutie wore. That we know never happened. I think Tebow throws a nice long ball. He has the size and strength to throw the long ball. I just don't think he has all the throws and his ball seems to float and he doesn't get that tight rotation. Tebow reminds me of Mark Rypien. He's just a big guy that can throw the long ball. Rypien couldn't run but he could throw the long ball. And Rypien was regarded as a terrible passer in some areas. As far as running goes, those days are over. Tebow will get drafted high because he weighs 240 lbs.
  18. Yes, I would take that deal. Sproles hits the hole quicker and he's younger. Plus, I think Hester would make a good tailback also. He hits the hole fast. And he played that position at LSU also. They'll never do it because LT has been such a good role model. No crime etc. He does pout though.
  19. He is a great little back. And they kept feeding it to him.
  20. I wonder if SD is going to keep him. They'd be stupid to let him go. What a change of pace back. He can do it all. I'm not sure about being an every down back. Let's see what he can do next week.
  21. I've noticed some posts about tickets sales and I wanted to post some things about how ticket sales go for the playoffs. When I was a ticket broker in Phoenix playoffs sales were always weak sellers. 1. Most of the time, in every sport, the first round of the playoffs is always weak. NBA, NHL and now the NFL, it's always weak. Season ticket holders don't seem to buy playoff tickets. That seems to be a fact of life. But it makes no sense. If you have already supported the team the whole season, I can't see why you wouldn't support them in the playoffs. 2. Teams put the whole playoff package on an invoice, all three games or series, and ask the season ticket holder to buy them. Then if the team loses in the first game or series you can't get a refund because they want to roll over the balance into the next season. I don't know if every team does that, but they probably do. I bought playoff tickets for the Phoenix Coyotes and they wouldn't refund the money. They wanted to roll it over. 3. The price of playoff tickets is just nuts and they do it at the wrong time of year. Right after Christmas. Even hockey and the NBA. They come at summer time and people spend money on other things during the summer. Things like boating etc etc. 4. The blackout makes a huge difference. If a game is close to being sold out, it will be a a"walkup sellout" because of the blackout. If they didn't have the blackout, there's no chance for a sellout. A walkup sellout is a ticket scalpers best friend but I never understood why people would pay more when it sells out, rather than buying them earlier in the week. 5. Actually, I think season ticket holders should get a bigger discount for playoff tickets, rather than jacking the price up.
  22. A glut of media entertainment and the newspaper dies. Sad but we can't bailout everything. There is no need for the printed press when we have so much electronic media.
  23. According to Pat Buchanan I guess that is so. I don't know. It's what I read. Present some facts and I'll listen and learn.
  24. He is pretty funny to listen to. I saw him go off on some guy on MSNBC. It was funnier than hell. He got into a heated discussion with a black guy and a mexican guy and they both kept calling him a racist.
  25. You can find Pat Buchanan on MSNBC. You don't need the internet.
