  1. I was agreeing with the commentators; why run at an opponent's strength; especially when they have a backup DE? Peters and Gandy are pretty good at blocking on off tackle plays. I can see a few runs up the middle to keep the D honest but to continually smash up in the middle against the Williams boys was not the way to go. WM may have gotten 15-20 more yards if they had run more offtackle. WM is frustrating for if he always runs and blocks hard then he could be a topback like he thinks he is. I mean one minue he dances up to the line the next he is running over LB's or stiffarming DB's. One minute he knocks a 300 Lb DT on his butt or block 2 defenders at a time; the next he lets a Db just walk by him as he plays lacksidasical. Once WM amd JP become more consistent then the NFL better watch out!
  2. My biggest issue with the Bills is more with the fact in how bad they lost more than in the fact that they lost. While I wanted them to win evrey game, they'd have more respect if they had at least made those games competitive. But that being said; like I tell my firends: we beat all the teams we were suppose to beat to get there, BOTTOMLINE! My cousin is a Jets fans and he ragged us all the time. I pointed out that the Jets can't even but 2 winning seasons back to back let alone make 4 straight Super Bowls. He'd then point out Super Bowl III that was played before he was thought of! Namath is probably in a wheelchair somewhere drunk and hitting on the nurses and CNA's! To me a flop is the Atlanta Braves. While they did win a ring, they lost a lot of years to teams they were better than and choked with dominant squads. At least Howie Long gives us credit in the "Football for Dummies" book!
  3. I argue with my friends all the time: while we choked and played awful and not as competitive as we should have been, they were never a heavily favored team in the Super Bowl. They make it seem like we were big favorites in all those loses; losing the way Green Bay or the Rams did as heavy favorites to a team that shouldn't be on the same field. The only one we were favorited in was against the 13-3 Giants! In that season, most of the NFL was focused on the 49ers and the Giants as both started 6-0 and most predicted the 49ers would win 4 straight. The Bills wasn't even thought of until they started running the No-Huddle. Against the Skins we were overmatched as that was probably one of the greatest teams of all time. Against Dallas we were a wild card team that had to overcome a 35-3 deficit. And Dallas went on to win 3 out of 4 Super Bowls.
  4. Overall the line blocking was good. If the pressure was so bad up the middle then JP wouldn't have been able to step in the pocket as much as he did. Most of the day he had ample time to throw the ball. He was sacked 3 times: 2 by Rhodes on a safety blitz and a failed bootleg. None of those sacks fall on the O-line. Tell me this: why does everytime this team lose all these finger pointing begins putting players under a microscope; making it seems like every position is either great or terrible with no in between. Bottom line: all players form scrubs to All-pros will make mistakes. And yes if we had the choice we would have the best player at every position. But we can't; no team in the league does. We have to work like a machine with the parts we are given: it all must come together to make it work. Just because a part doesn't have a brand name doesn't mean that it is not serviceable and can't get the job done. And even though it may not run finely tuned all the time but a few skips here or there you can deal with.
  5. To some it is all about winning or losing with no in between. If he drives us down that last drive and wins all the mistakes he made that previous drive are all forgotten. Take Carlson Plamer; he fumbled the ball 2 or 3 times and threw 2 picks. But since the Steelers fumbled the ball on 2 straight special teams plays, all he had to do was throw a couple of jump balls that make him look like a hero! My only gripe with JP so far this year has been clock management as we have had too many timeouts called. Plus the TO he called during that last 2 minute drive was stupid! But he played good against the Pats and wasn't really given a chance to win orlose that game. Against the Dolhphins he played much better than his numbers would indicate. His accuracy is no longer an issue. The turnovers where ones that any QB will make when he gets hit while cocking his arm to throw; its not like he has been known to fumble or throw picks as this hasn't been an issue with him. Since the staff should know his strengths and hopefully would utilize him better he will be a force by the end of this season!
  6. My point is all these little things you mentioned plus those I mentioned earlierwere much more of a factor than those turnovers. If %70 of those mistakes were eliminated we win that game hands down even with the turnovers.
  7. If the Bills had finished the other drives in the 1st quarter MINUS the one in which JP fumbled we would have been up 21-0 or at least 13-0. In the 2nd half if we punch it in from the one that is another TD. Then the turnovers wouldn't matter as it would be a totally different game as then WM probably would have got 200 yards or A Train about 75 to 100 eating up the clock while Pennington weak @$$ arm is fighting that wind trying to comeback. So to totally blame the lost on those 3 turnovers is a cop out; while they do matter it is not the main reason we lost yesterday as it was poor execution.
  8. My issue with the bootleg: why wait until 3rd down to try such a play that the defense might suspect on 3rd down? WHy not try it on 1st or 2nd so that if it is blotched you have 3rd down to pick it up? I mean the Jets got a TD on 2nd down on their trick play in the endzone and fooled us good.
  9. My point is that it shouldn't have been that close. If we managed the game better, and involved the backs and TE's more with the running game and big plays from our WR's this game shouldn't have been close at all that those turnovers would have determined the outcome. It is not like Suuper Bowl 28 against the 'Girls where we had 8 turnovers; most in the redzone and a few returned for TD's. It should have been like the Giants-Seahwaks game yesterday where we are up 42-3 and the Jets get a few scores late and JP throws a pick for a TD like Hasselback did to make the score look close but it wouldn't matter as we would still have the W and then the issue would be how did we almost let a win slip away versus how did we find a way to lose this game!
  10. Get this fact straight: There was no aspect of the Bills game; offense, defense or special teams that played bad in this game. Poor execution at key moments caused us this game. As far as the D goes I mean the Jets had 5 three and outs. If the offense was actually scoring when getting all those yards and not giving up TD's themselves then it would be a different game as we would have won 42-21!
  11. Don't forget we had a RB gain over 150 yards! Can't blame the OL at all as they have played better than expected in all games. Like any line they have had their breakdowns but overall they have done a pretty good job. What we have shown is that we can run the ball and we can hit the big play. We need to continue to open it up but we need to get the TE's and backs more involved in the passing game as well as more short routes to the WR's. Once we become more efficent in that department we will be much better off.
  12. The O-line played well so far this season. The only pressure the Jets got was on a safety blitz; he got 2 sacks and that was a RB responsibilty both times to pickup him up. The only other sack was a 2 yard lost after a scramble. I'll bet if Gandy had let a defender run around him the way WM did everybody would be screaming for his head!
  13. The only one that really hurt was the fumble that caused the TD. The other ones didn't lead to points for the Jets. While the other two may have caused us a FG, I group that with all the missed 4th down conversions that lead to no points that weren't ended by turning the ball over. When you look at it there is no excuse to lose that game; especially by blaming it on turnovers. I can see if all the turnovers led to points or were commited in the red zone. To me it is a bail out by the coaches to lay the blame on. There is no way a team running and passing the ball the way we were with a good proven backup RB and interchangeable WR's to lose a game where the D clearly can't stop us. Frankly, it was just poor execution and coaching at key critical moments. If this game was called properly, the Jets should have had few opportunities to touch the ball and when they did it should have been Chad with his weak arm trying to bring the Jets back down at least 17-0. This team also needs to work on the little things such as short yardage offense and defense as we have been hurt in all games in key situations by poor execution or playcalling in plays of 3 yards or less.
  14. Also throw in a 1 yard route on 4th and 2. I'm with you; there is no way we should lose this game. We are better than the Jets on both sides of the ball. We let them off the hook with poor gameplanning and turnovers. It seemed as if we just called plays instead of putting those plays together to get into a rhytm on offense. One minute it was a Roscoe; show the next Willis. Finally they decided to get Evans involved. If they had put all those plays together and forced the Jets to matchup there is no way the Jets could compete as besides the 3 TD drives the Jets had they did nothing. And those drives were aided by poor plays on our part.
  15. You are right to an extent. But he has started only 11 games and such mistakes should be expected. But compared to a lot of successful QB's he is coming along very well. I mean if the Giants stucked with Eli or the 49ers with Smith when they were stinking up the joint I guess we can give the kid a little break. I mean what if JP had thrown 3 picks and we were down 42-0 but rebounded and threw 3 TDs in garbage time; JP sucks chants would be everywhere!
  16. The Jets just finished the 3 good drives they had with TD's. They did nothing else on any other drive; they had 5 three and outs! We wasted 3 good drives in the 1st quarter and got no points to show for it. None; no FGs; NADA! We should have built at least a 13-0 lead going with the wind in the 1st quarter the way we were moving the ball. Throw in 3 turnovers and you can then see how a team can pass for 300 plus and run for over 150 at home and still lose.
  17. Exactly. I have no problem with the way he ran the ball the last 2 weeks as he did less dancing and more punishing. To those on his bandwagon even Levy pointed that out in his show as he liked the way he banged plays up in there against Miami vs against the Pats.
  18. I agree wholeheartedley that JP needs to run a little more and has been overprogrammed not to run. But on those 2 fumbles, that was not the case as he didn't whole the ball that long and was just hit as he was cocking his arm. But WM effort on that 2nd fumble was atrocious!
  19. There are too many wishy-washy fans on this board! You can't expect a team; especially a young team to dominate every game and not make mistakes come on! They can't get 7-8 sacks every game. It's not like Pennington dropped by 35 times and passesd for 300 plus and had a RB ran for over a 150 yards!
  20. But if we lose to some JP sucks if he doesn't play a perfect game so it's just another L! NO EXCUSES!
  21. So one average game from the D and now they suck? The D did not play all that bad today. They didn't play great but they stopped the Jets numerous times besides 3 drives. Give the Jets credit for finishing their drives unlike the Bills who throw away multiple scoring chances.
  22. The dumbest play he made was calling a TO with 2:02 left on the clock! I mean he does frustrate me in that one minute he makes a great play then the next its' like what was he thinking? One week I give him credit for not being turnover prone and what does he do this week commit 3! But I have to be patient as this is his 11th start (I know the bashers will point out 2-9) but all those mistakes can be taught, the ability to throw the ball can't. And for all those Brady QUin fans out there believe me he will take about 2-3 years to adjust as well so just be patient! The biggest positive form this game is that maybe the coaching staff will realize that we have an explosive bunch and will trust JP to air it out more instead of just letting him manage the game! I can see if he were missing a lot of open guys or was a 10 year vet making these dumb decisions. He has made such great strides in his accuracy and if by mid season he becomes more consistent and makes less mistakes then watch out!
  23. I think they have overcoached JP into trying to make plays and not pull it down and run. I know they beat that into his head but there were a few opportunities where he should have ran and picked up a few yards.
  24. Why not; he was doing it all day! Even if they get stopped, they might have been tempted to go for it on 4th down. To me that is a call you make on either 1st or 2nd down when the D is selling out to stop the run. On that play with the personell group they had it was obvious that they were going to try something funky and no bang it up in their. But a fake sweep and bootleg was a horrible call. Maybe if they had tried a playaction and rolled JP out with an option to run or pass I can live with that but a fake sweep? That's out thinking yourself!
  25. Yeah the stats looked great but there is no way we should have lost this game. The Jets never had an answer for him UNTIL they got in the red zone. With him running so well in all personell groups they should have found a package and combined the successful runs with more high precision passes and at least try ONE PLAY ACTION! If they had stuck with the 3 WR group they would have had the Jets on their heels all day as they had trouble matching up in the slot and still couldn't stop WM. Or if they stick with the I and run more playactions and get the backs and TE's involved more they would have had better success finishing drives; like the Jets did! With all that changing personell groups they never got a good rhythm going or forced the Jets to match up. It was like watching a rookie play on Madden who just call plays that happen to work but then get confused when they have to make a play!
