  1. But his salary was alittle too high for his production and if he doesn't restructure then you will have an overpaid player. Or if he is cut then you're out of a player and a pick. I'll pass on him for he is not the true run plugger that we need and besides we are rebuilding this year and not in contention; let's just wait until the draft or free agency to get possibly a better and/or cheaper option at DT.
  2. Yeah but if he was in a rotation such as the obe we used versus him being in 95% of the snaps he'd to the very minimal be serviceable, especially when motivated to play hard to get more snaps. He would be btter than Anderson anyday!
  3. My question is where are the routes that attack the middle of the field that allow the WR's to run more after the catch? And since the TE's and backs aren't a factor in the passing game it seems easy for the D to take our WR's out of the game. It doesn't seem like we gameplan and attack the whole field and force the D to matchup to us and dictate. It's like we just call plays here or there and hope they work!
  4. Actually for then his rookie contract would be up and he won't be a salary cap hit. I mean people forget that it takes most QB's 2-4 years to hit their stride. In today's salary capped NFL you are married to a 1st round pick; especially a QB for they take 2-3 years to develop and become consistent. While JP sucked for 8 games last year, he was just following the normal NFL trend. In his second year he has improved tremendously on a team with an inconsistent O-line and short WR's and no passing threat at TE. Look at 3 QB's drafted ahead of JP. Eli was worse than JP in his first year and the Giants have stuck with him. And tell you the truth he still is an inconsistent QB. Phillip Rivers sat for 2 years but is now on a team with LT and Gates and a great D. What if JP had the weapons Eli and Rivers had? ANd Big Ben gets too much credit playing on a team with great defense and solid running game and blocking. While his win-lose looks great he is not that great of a QB as some would think. To those who want to run JP out of Buffalo, give the kid the rest of the season and next year. If he doesn't improve then I will save he has been given ample opportunity and then it will be time to start over with a new QB. Now I would hate to see a Tim Couch or Joey Harrington type situation here but it hasn't even came close to that point yet. And for the record, JP is not holding this team back or losing games for the Bills. JP and the passing game isn't good enough yet to carry the team and the rest of the team isn't good enough to pick up the slack. If the D was better and the run blocking was better then we wouldn't be having these discussions as we would be winning! Just imagine IF we had resigned Pat Williams. Our D fell of with the lost of Pat. With him our D would have never fell out of the top 10.
  5. Well actually he is only 300 lbs and is more of a pass rusher in the Warren Sapp mold whom he replaced but he would be the biggest DT on the Colts roster. For the money, 2nd rnd draft pick and his production the past 3 seasons I wouldn't add him to the Bills roster. But tell you the truth I wish to the minimum had kept Adams or added a Grady Jackson in the offseason. for since we rotate DT' anyway, why not keep a fat body in their on running downs or goaline; they can't be worse than Anderson! Ideally I wish we still had Phat Pat but that is another topic...
  6. IF! That is the question on both QBs. What if we had drafted ML and we traded JP and he went to the Cardinarls and lit it up for years playing with those Cardinal WR's? What if JP becomes a Pro Bowler with ML is just an anerage QB? What if they both are Pro Bowlers or bust? But the answer is ML is not our QB and never will be and you said it yourself the Bills drating him was a dumb move. All I can say is that while JP is far from a finished product he has played well enough for us to win this year. The plan last year was for the running game and D to win games for us and for JP to manage games and not lose them. But last year the D and running game fell off and JP wasn't ready to manage games, let alone win them. This year he definitely can manage games and not lose them. Think about it: if we had the same team that we had in 2004, if JP played the same as he has so far this year we'd be a contender. And if you look at what some other winning teams are doing with worse veteran QB play then I'd say we should be worried more about the players around him.
  7. But give JP at least 3 years before you decide that he is a not a quality QB! I mean as of right now he isn't playing that bad. He is actually ahead of the curve based on the history of this league.
  8. But he sucked from the 1st quarter on once the Bears realized he couldn't throw the ball over 10 yards. And he only moved the ball agin once the Bears went to prevent. This is my problem with those who bash JP: it is those who say that he can't or will never improve after playing only 15 games. Those same fools said that he would never be an accurate QB. So now that he has a 60% completion rate now it is that he can't be consistent or he can't put his team in position to win. Give him time; you act like he is a 10 year plus veteran like Bledsoe who still makes the same rookie mistakes and he is what he is. This is just his 2nd year as a starter and he has made strides to be better. Even with his play now if we had the Bills Defense of 2004 we'd have 4-6 victories right now.
  9. So after 15 starts, a trait that most QBs get better with over time, you have the ability to see now that he will never obtain it? But you can see Leinart being better when his flaws are those that he can never improve on? Like I said earlier lets see Leinart play more than 2 games and throw the ball over 10 yards before hailing him better than JP.
  10. Somewhat agree. The question to ask is why isn't Parrish, Evans, or Reed put in more positions to break tackles and make plays?
  11. Exactly. To claim that Leinart is SO GREAT; so much BETTER than JP based off last night's game is LUDICRIOUS! While he wasn't bad he wasn't that impressive either. Like I stated earlier if the Bills and JP had an exact game; stats and everything, those same Leinart b@llwashers and JP critics would be bashing JP unmercifully as he didn't close the door and finish the game and how he played awful in the 2nd half. The only reason why they wouldn't would be because they would be too busy bashing Willis for fumbling the game away and averaging under 2 yards a carry!
  12. I started to check our board last night after the game but it was getting too late. I had visions of seeing numerous WEEK LONG post after post of how JP sucks and Leinart is god. But since they lost we only had 1 or 2 such post (one was 10 pages long though!) and they wouldn't last past today (hopefully!)
  13. If we involved the TE's and RB's more and allowed the WR's more opportunities to get RAC yard then maybe we could either get that extra score or keep our D on the sideline. And since most of our losses have been by one score, subtle, small changes and adjustment could be the differences between WINNING and LOSING!
  14. To me we are not far ahead of the Cardinarls as we are still considered laughing stocks of the league as well and the only way to change that is by winning. I mean look athe Cardinals skill positions and look at ours and you would say the same thing: those teams win more than they do! Then you think of all the quick fixes that could help but honestly never happen but each year we hold out HOPE each offseason that change is coming! But now, as usual the past 7 seasons all I have to look forward for is WHAT IFs; what if they had won a couple of those close games they lost early in the season or WHAT IF we pick up this free agent or draft or WHAT IF we make the playoffs...Playoffs;...PLAYOFFS....DISTANT MEMORIES! But I still keep HOPE and WHAT IF and just can't turn away! Watching that Cardinals game it seemed like a game the Bills would always find a way to lose or at least make it close and scare their fans unnecessarily. That is why I NEVER turn away from a Bills game until the final whistle blows and I always watch the ENTIRE GAME FIRSTHAND for I don't want to rely on replays and the poor coverage Buffalo gets. In both our wins we allowed the teams to score late to put a scare in our hearts. Look no further than Week 1. That was a game we dominated and should have won but we let the Pats off the hook. If you just watched the replays you don't get the feel for the way we dominated that game or the controversial calls. In fact if you just watched the highlights you'd think we lost on a last minute safety!
  15. He attempted 40 plus passes. I wouldn't call that cruise control. He averaged under 10 yards PER COMPLETION, not just attempt. I'll give the kid some respect. But to all you so-call Leinart b@ll washers who act like he is so much better than JP and that we should have drafted him YOU need to wake up and stop annointing him Broadway Joe after 2 AVERAGE performances were he start off fast but faded down the stretch as teams caught on to his dink and dunk offense and give him at least the rest of the season before you anoint him superior!
  16. And I don't make up excuses for JP as he does hold onto the ball too long and does need to get better but come one you act like JP is stinking up the joint or causing us to loose games. And Leinart being far ahead; give me a break! He capitialize on a few TO's the bears had and great RAC by his recivers to get 2 TD's. Other than that he was shutdown was the Bears clamped down! Like I've said before if JP played on the Bronco's, Ravens, or Steelers he would be sitting pretty as he has played better than those teams QB's and is not losing games by turning the ball over.
  17. You act like JP folds or throws the game away. Leinart had every chance to close that game and didn't deliver much like JP and the Bills have done. How many games this season have JP been put in positions with the ball, down by a FG and the clock running out to win the game? The only game close was against the Jets playing in the rain against a 30 mph wind! And in that game his gutty play got us back in the game.
  18. I wouldn't move Peters as he is settled at RT; especially at mid season. Why fix what isn't broken? If a move was to be made it would be move Gandy to guard and bring in an upgrade at LT. But based on what I've seen in the Pre-season I don't see an upgrade on the bench. While an upgrade Gandy should be explored this offseason, that game was an aberation and the worse game Gandy has had as a Bill. He's not a stud but give him some slack as JP does hold the ball too long combined with stubborn playcalling utilizing deep drops. He will just have to make do this year.
  19. So JP has played good enough to win 3 of the 4 losses we have this season; SO WHAT? I'll tell you what if the Bills had forced 6 Bears turnovers on our side of the 50 and the Bills only score 20 points and lose because JP struggled in the second half, couldn't put the ball in the end zone and put up the exact numbers Leinart did all would be crying how overated JP was!
  20. I sense the sarcaism but if we find a quality LT next year and move Gandy to guard or the bench then we wouldn't have the Hogs but it would be manageable. I'm much more concerned with our DT's run stopping ability.
  21. Had to get the point across: money can't buy championships in a salary capped NFL! And as far as Leinart goes, lets just see him play throw a pass over 15 yards or performin non perfect weather before we take that weak arm label off! As far as JP goes, he does have a long ways to go. But he has such a high ceiling and really isn't playing too bad right now. In fact if the Bills D played like the Raven,Steelers, or Bronco's then we'd be gushing over how great JP is for we'd be 6-0 as he has played better than any of those teams QB's!
  22. Now heres the real TRUTH: 1: No Gandy is an adequate LT, serviceable; the best we got until we can get a standout LT who are hard to come by. Give Levy one more year 2. Bad coaching and poor gameplanning has had it's hand in it as when you don't put your players in the best positions to succed or leave bullets in the chambers then yes you have underachieved as a coach. 3. Ask he Redskins what money buys in the NFL 4. Let's seem his weak arm try to cut throw the winds at Orchard Park instead of Sunny Arizona. 5. JP already has gotten better in every aspect and has shown he can be accurate and make every throw. WIth more experience and better playcalling he will be evn better. 6. Again ask the Redskins what spending money on big free agents get you if they don't pan out
  23. is much better than JP and how we should have taken him and similar BS. To all those who want to jump on Leinart’s bandwagon and bash JP, PLEASE! I’ll give Leinart one advantage over JP in that he does seem to have a better feel for the rush and seems to get rid off the ball quick. That is because he doesn’t have the arm to get the ball down the field over 20 yards with any zip so he looks to get rid off the ball quick. At least their coaching staff was smart enough to call a lot of short quick passes to at least give Arizona and their playmaking WR's a fighting chance. When the Bears started to crowd those short passes, Leinart and Arizona didn’t have a chance. No matter what anybody says, JP has shown the ability to setup quick on 3 step drops and make quick throws when such plays are called. I mean he hasn’t had a 60% completion percentage by luck. In our scheme they aren’t called enough. But what JP can do that Leinart will never be able to do is to go up top and stretch the field and scramble and make plays. So if defenses start to crowd the line a few occasional bombs will back defenses back if the proper playcalling is made. Yet in still JP deserves some blame as he does hold onto the ball too long on occasions when his first read isn’t open. Yesterday I looked at the highlights on the Sunday Ticket shortcuts of our game against the Lions and you can see the difference between the teams. Kitna had about as much or more pressure on him as JP had but he didn’t hold onto the ball as his first read, Roy Williams was consistently open and he didn’t have to hold it very long. Combine that with a 100 yard running game, 20 points aren’t hard to come by. JP actually had decent time in the pocket to at least setup besides 2-3 plays. But instead of giving JP and the O-line all the blame the coaching staff deserves the biggest blame. With the plays called and the confusion the Lion’s coverage caused, JP held the ball too long until late in the 3rd and 4th quarter where they finally realized that the Lions, LIKE MOST TEAMS expected us to go deep 75% of the time and look to take that away for they know JP and Fairchild aren’t patient enough to take what the defense gives them. If quicker passes were called our O-Line wouldn’t consistently look as bad. Instead of constantly pass blocking for 5-7 step drops and waiting for deeper plays to develop 70% they would have far shorter 3rd down conversions and more opportunities to run the ball. No I’m not saying that our line is anything close to being good but is not as bad as some has made it out to be or that JP and Fairchild has made them look. With the right adjustment to playcalling to establish rhythm, make some attempt to pass in the middle of the field to force defenses to defend the whole field this team has the talent on offense to make a turn around to at least put up 20 points a game. We might be out of contention when this happen but then they can go on a late season winning streak to et us all hype for 2007 to only be disappointed ( can’t help it; it has happen to may times to this team before!) That game showed yesterday what a poor O-line is. Our line isn’t half as bad as the Cardinals as they applied constant pressure to Leinart all night and had NO PUSH at all in the run game. Think about it, how may times this year have there been a jailbreak on JP where he hasn’t even had the time to drop back and setup; maybe 5 to 7 times this whole year? I mean Arizona has had that number every game. And what about Edge; the great RB from “da U” who has complained all season about not getting the ball late in games. Then he has a crucial fumble for a TD that gives the game away. I guess he also learn that you aren’t so great without those big boys up front getting a push. For all those dissing McGahee, no RB, especially a powerback can run without getting movement up front.
  24. I think JP and Fairchild are just as much a blame for pass protection as the O-line is. I mean any QB would love to have 5-7 seconds in the pocket. You can't expect an average O-line to consistently block long developing pass plays, especially with a young QB who holds on to the ball too long. Overall this year the O-line hasn't been stellar but not as bad as it looks or some has made it seem. Take yesterday; 2-3 sacks are definitely on the line; especially the one that led to the fumble. But JP held the ball too long on numerous occasions wating for his initial read to get open. The offense didn't develop any rhythm until the 4th quarter and that is when there were more 3 step drops called. Maybe Reed should be more involved as he does seem to drag defenders for extra yards.
  25. Exactly;I agree totally. The smartest post I've seen so far!
