So I guess Gandy and Reyes aren't as bad as some make them out to be as I remember most of WM best runs have been to the left with a lot of key blocks made by Gandy. He may be a sos-so pass blocker but I think he can get it done via the run.

Doesn't make sense but truthfully Fairchild doesn't make sense!

Is Bill Walton your daddy for real? I guess I'll treat you like him and turn the volume down! -
No matter how much anybody wants to say that JP will never amount to anything, just based on stats and the eye test alone, anyone who watches the Bills on a regular basis can tell that the kid has gotten better. If you look at his stats from the game where he showed his first glimpse of potential, the KC game where he came off the bench for an injured KH until now he has gotten progressively better. His worse games have came against the Pats and Bears in that time period. If you compare his numbers to most QB's that have become good in this league he is right on par and that has come with subpar blocking and an average receiving corp with no TE passing threat whatsoever. Now while this doesn't guarntee greatness by any means or that he will get better but no one can deny that he hasn't. To the JP haters just get off his case and just open your eyes. To his apologist we can't make up every excuse for him and not place the blame everywhere but at him and admit that he still has a ways to go to be a complete QB. Bottom line: he is just an average QB right now which isn't bad for a young QB. He can't carry a team with his arm yet but if he was on a stronger team he could be a winner. I mean afew more plays made by his team mates and we'd be 4-3 or maybe 5-2 and we wouldn't be having such discussion. Who knows whether he (or the Bills for that matter) will get better but you can't deny that he hasn't in his 1st 16 starts! 2005 +----------+--------------------------+----------------+ | WK OPP | CMP ATT PYD TD INT | RSH YD TD | +----------+--------------------------+----------------+ | 10 kan | 9 16 137 2 0 | 4 3 0 | | 11 sdg | 20 36 168 1 1 | 2 30 0 | | 12 car | 16 29 197 0 1 | 2 2 0 | | 13 mia | 13 26 224 3 1 | 3 10 0 | | 14 nwe | 10 27 181 1 3 | 1 7 0 | +----------+--------------------------+----------------+ | TOTAL | 113 228 1340 8 8 | 31 154 0 | +----------+--------------------------+----------------+ 2006 +----------+--------------------------+----------------+ | WK OPP | CMP ATT PYD TD INT | RSH YD TD | +----------+--------------------------+----------------+ | 1 nwe | 15 23 164 0 0 | 1 0 0 | | 2 mia | 11 18 83 1 0 | 2 10 0 | | 3 nyj | 22 38 328 1 1 | 3 14 1 | | 4 min | 23 32 222 1 0 | 4 17 0 | | 5 chi | 14 27 115 1 3 | 3 8 0 | | 6 det | 21 34 207 2 1 | 3 16 0 | | 7 nwe | 16 25 193 0 1 | 3 13 0 | +----------+--------------------------+----------------+ | TOTAL | 122 197 1312 6 6 | 19 78 1 | +----------+--------------------------+----------------+

bluv replied to bluv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope you were being sarcastic for if you look at Eli's first 16 starts and compare them to JP you'd see little difference. In fact JP might have the edge. If you compare JP's progression to a lot of great QB's you'd see similar progression. That's not saying that he is or will never be great. -
No as during his past 2 years at LT Gandy has had some good run blocking at times when they have ran off tackle or on the edge. The fact is they rarely do as they prefer to consistenly smash it inside for minimal gain!

The Most Disturbing Part Of The Season
bluv replied to Buffalo Baumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For the past few Halloweens it's been more trick than treat when it comes to the Bills as the mindset is always finish strong, add a few draft picks and free agents and look forward to next year! -
Exactly. I'll be the 1st to admit I wanted to see him fail with the Cowboys as my big mouth Cowboy fan always tried to say how much Buffalo held Drew back and if he went to a winner like the Cowboys he'd be All-World and win a few rings. Thank god that didn't happen. But for people to diss him as a person without even knowing him and looking for cheap stories like this to try to dog him is a disgrace. Why do all players who leave this team no via retirement always get labeled as a garbage player and lots of time garbage as a human being? Get some class!
-
This "re-energized" feeling is true but also frustrating as this has been the feeling about the Bills the past few Halloweens: lets hope they finish strong, young players develop and a gem is found, get a few draft and free agent pickups and maybe we can turn it around next year. We must be the most dedicated fans in the world!

I didn't want to mention Randy but if we added him I would have no problem with that as we need a playmaker regardless of his reputation. Randy might not be a Saint but he definitely isn't a TO! -

bluv replied to bluv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True but at key situations defense would have a hard time singling up a big fast WR who can jump. I mean Plaxico has bailed Eli out a few times this year. We have had no big targets, at WR or TE to throw to at key moents. Definitely in the red zone big targets make a huge difference. -
Did you notice how the Dallas OC called plays to
bluv replied to Fan in San Diego's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When Romo came in he game, the playcalling changed and at least put him in the best position to make plays. While they weren't all good, he made a few big plays as well playing being shabby blocking. We have won of the best scrambling QB's in the game and yet defenses treat him like Bledsoe for they know he is going to be set back there 97% of the time. I also think Davis should be given a look to start opposite Lee as Price is not getting the job done, at least Davis has gotten open deep the past 2 games and just haven't been able to connect with JP. Price just isn't a threat and maybe Davis can be the spark this offense needs. I wish Fairchild would use Lee Evans and/or Roscoe the way Carolina uses Steve Smith and put them in positions to make plays. There is no way that if more slants and crossing routes were called insted of just streaks and curls that defenses can constantly take away our speed at WR, especially if JP is rolled out more. Then if nobody is open he can just haul@ss and run instead of sitting back in the pocket holding the ball. -
gandy out at LT, peters to LT, reyes benched ...
bluv replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good point. If he doesn't INSTANTLY come in and adjust and play at a Pro Bowl level and has a bad game or two he will be labeled as garbage and be run out of here like the rest! -
gandy out at LT, peters to LT, reyes benched ...
bluv replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah it will at least keep us tuned in. But what if Peters doesn't make a smooth transistion and Pennington can't hang at RT? I'd much prefer to leave Peters at RT and give Pennington a shot at LT and move Gandy to guard. That way if he doesn't pan out then when can just target for an upgrade at LT in the offseason. I think it will take 3-4 games to get the O-line up to speed but I HOPE I'M WRONG! GO BILLS! The next big change should be start Davis over Price! This makes it even more frustrating to have wait over the bye week to see what our new toys will look like; feels like Christmas; hope I'm not disappointed! -
I just hate it when every player we have here who plays suspect or not the best every week some make them out to be horrible;suck; shouldn't even be on the team. Every player who has a bad stretch or off year is not terrible. Some make it seem like every team has a Pro Bowler at every position.

I agree with everything you said for we should have patience with a young QB but at the same time you can't make excuses for all his mistakes either.

Anyone else note Evan's game on Sunday???
bluv replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll agree to an extent. I mean if he makes the plays you mention and JP connects with Davis on that bomb then JP would be getting a little more love but oh well. What if.... -
I mean to all those who hate on JP and act like Eli is so much better, for the Giants games I've watched he is no better than JP and actually makes more dumb throws. But I know the JP haters will say yeah but he makes plays...of course he does when he has a 6-4 WR mismatch in that he can just throw the ball up to and hope he makes a play! How many times in forever have you ever remeber the Bills having a WR they could just throw the ball up to on a quick fade in the end zone and have him outjump a db? Or have one of the best RB's in the game who is a threat in both run and pass game. Better yet a power back who comes in and get the tough yardages on 3rd and short. Or even Dallas who when the refs allow it have TO who can push off and make tough catches (but drop easy ones occasionally). Or even an offensive coordinator who will use Lee Evans and/or Roscoe the way Carolina uses Steve Smith and put them in positions to make plays. The point I'm trying to make is that this team has no playmakers whatsoever. No one to make the big catch or get the tough yard. And for the playmakers we MIGHT have who can make plays with the ball in their hands, they are not put in the best positions to make plays. Watch how when Romo came in he game, the playcalling changed and at least put him in the best position to make plays. While they weren't all good, he made a few plays as well playing being shabby blocking. We have won of the best scrambling QB's in the game and yet defenses treat him like Bledsoe for they know he is going to be set back there 97% of the time. Then if nobody is open he can just haul@ss and run instead of sitting back in the pocket holding the ball. And BTW, I think Davis should be given a look to start opposite Lee as Price is not getting the job done, at least Davis has gotten open deep the past 2 games and just haven't been able to connect with JP. Price just isn't a threat and maybe Davis can be the spark this offense needs.

Because Fairchild never gameplans and pit players in position that best utilizes or play to the strength of our players; he just call plays and hope they work!
-
Good point as I watched it as well. Why would the Bills, supposedly out of it, never suppose to be in it sit their young 1st round draft QB who has 16 starts and is unproven while the Redskins in a worse situation with 3 teams in their division with better records stay the course with an old washed up QB when they have a young unproven QB who needs playing time when they are clearly out of the race?
-
Yeah WM should run more like Earl Campbell, sacrifice his body for the game and fans, never run out of bounds. Then he can't walk by the time he is 45. I don't fault WM; unles it is 1st down or TD or just one man to beat I'd do the same thing to save yourself for the next play. A lot of people dissed Franco Harris back in the day for running out of bounds but it pro longed his career. I mean some of guys on this board are very critical and have ran or dogged just about every player the Bills have had. Just 3 years ago most ran Henry out of town because WM looked flashy and instead of giving TH credit for being a good back some made him out to be garbage. Talk about Bills karma.
-
Well if it's the Bills you are after you can go to a spot where the fan club meets. After years of either being in college or living in an apartment I had to finally get a house so I could get DirecTV for I got tired of sitting thru all that cigarette smoke, forced unhealthy eating, and listening to the SHOUT song after every score. I love the Bills but come on; playing the Shout song for a FG for crying out loud! BTW if got SuperFan free for this year and I might keep it next year as watching all those games in high def and the 30 minute replays for every game played during the week is tempting.

Going into the bye week after such a pitiful lost
bluv replied to bluv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you read the article posted on TwoBillsdrive there was an initial trade of Clemens for McFarland as Tampa wanted DB help. Now if Tampa wanted Clemens and a 2nd round pick I don't fault Marv; I'd tell them to go to hell as well! -
Must be kin to Pyrite Gal though! But agreed excellent post.

Yeah he made this comment last night toward the end of the NFL highlight show on the NFL Network when the questins came up about JP and the Bills and Brunell and the Redskins. I think that as some have suggested these comments have no weight and are just Adam guessing and pondering. There is NO WAY the Bills would go with Holcomb this season. While JP hasn't played good enough to overcome this team flaws and win games he certainly isn't the only one to blame in the losses.
