Let me make this clear: I'm not bashing Brady whatsoever. My cousin, who is a Jet's fan constantly hates on Brady; doesn't even have him in his top 5 QBs and I have to bring up points like those you have made all the time. The stupidest thing my cousin said was that Brady WR's made him look good so you know I flipped on him after Monday night. But with that being said, you can't bash Manning or a Marino because they lost to another QB who had a better team around them and make it seem like they are better QB's. I mean Elway was bashed for years until he won a SB when he was carried by a better team. What if the Bronco's had the last possesion on Sunday and had beat the Colts; nobody would be saying that Plummer out duel Manning. It isn't a fair challenge when one QB has to face the best D in the league and still rips it to shed while the other faces one of the worse. And that will be the case again Sunday night when the Colts and Pats face each other. Peyton will have to beat another top 3 D while Brady is facing one of the worse and should scor no less than 25 points. What if he had the Ravens D; he'd have 5-7 rings by now. People seemed to forget that this is a team game and QB's don't check each other.

Complete BS! Both Brady and Kelly played on better teams than Marino and Peyton. Bottom line: this is still and always has been a team game. Mark Rypien, Troy Aikman, and Jeff Hostetler weren't better than Kelly in the clutch, they just played on better teams!

Evans not cutting it as #1 WR ...
bluv replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look I like Moulds and I wish him the best. Evans is doing pretty good with all the double coverage he has been receiving with no threat opposite of him or playing on a consistent offense that is constantly moving the ball putting Evans in a position to score. But this post seems to be more about throwing a cheap shot at JP.Why are all these cheap shots thrown at JP, making it seem like he has been here for 3-4 years and has been given every chance in the world to develop and succeed and now it is on him? Like he has had all world talent around him and there is no way he shouldn't be producing or that he is holding back a team that is ready to win now. I don't get it! -
of the season. Especially Royal and Everett for they ae both on the field at times and are being underutilized in the offense. They may not be All-Pros but I definitely think they can and should be outproducing our previous TE combos. I feel that Davis and Parrish can add spark to the offense. Parrish has already shown flashes and Davis has been really close to breaking a few. The thing with Parrish is that I feel that he along with Lee if given more chances can turn more short passes into big plays with their run after catch ability. I'll give Reed more props as he has held onto the ball this year and have ran hard to get an extra yard or two and not being tackle by one DB. But he can't break big plays. Davis can stretch the defnses out who crowd the LOS as he has came close to connecting with JP on the limited few opportunities he has had so far. Price has been giving opportunites but so far he hasn't produced; he hasn't consistently got open on short passes or even broken free deep. If they are going to stick wih JP for this season (hopefully) and shuffle the O-line, I think they should also try different combos of WR along side Evans as well. And no doubt get the TE's and RB's involved in the passing game!

You beat me to it!

The only way we win with max protection is against a defense that blitzes a lot and leave their DB's on an island to play man to man. Believe me; we don't max protect that much and we shouldn't unless we face a heavy blitzing scheme. There is no way 2 WR can consistely get open against 7 defenders dropped into coverage. Now I agree that we should get the TE's more involed in the passing game and also give JP some bigger targets at WR.
-
Hopefully Gandy plays well at LG and we can then move Reyes to RG and Villereal to a retirement home!
-
But if we keep everybody in their blocking while the D isn't blitzing then there would be nobody open to throw the ball to and he would just be holding onto the ball waiting and getting smashed!
-
You are right as he will never win with those types until we start winning and/or JP starts to produce big numbers. But anayway, if he were to step up in the pocket more, move forward whenever possible instead of holding the ball, waiting for a receiver to get open and if not then either moving backwards or sideways he would play more pressure on the D for instead of them just rolling with him, clogging his passing lanes they would have to make quicker decisions for if not he would just take off and run and pick up a few yards here or there. If they stay back there is a chance a receiver who may break open deep like Roscoe did in the Lions game JP could hit him for a big gain. On that play JP still could have ran for a 5 yard pickup if Roscoe hadn't broken open deep.
-
Let's give Gandy the rest of the year at LG a fair shake. You can't just assume since he wasn't an All-Pro LT that he can't be any good at guard, his natural position without seeing him in action. I for one hopes both Gandy and Pennington play great the rest of the year. Then hopefully we can resign Gandy at the vet minimum and focus our draft and free agent money on DT's, DB's, and WR which is our real weakness. So far we know we can get pressure off the ends; we need a DT to stuff the run and collapse the pocket and find a resonable replacement for Nate and possibly sit McGee. A big target at WR like Georgia Tech's Calvin Johnson wouldn't hurt either. Think about it: IF this O-line provides any stability and IF JP improves even more, Calvin and Evans would be a tough duo for opponents to stop; especially if you throw in Roscoe in the slot!
-
Besides the play last week with the ref, JP has never fumbled scrambling. The only time he has been turnover prone is when he has been blinsided; most QB's are fumble prone when they get blasted from behind! Back to the topic, I hope he watched Romo or even Vick and see how they used their feet to keep plays alive and the chains moving. JP has shown he can scramble but when he does he needs to keep moving more forward than sideways or backwards for then it would put more pressure on the D and get more positive yards. There are too many times he runs toward the sideline when he could run forward and when he does, the defenders are just too fast and the passing windows close quick and the sideline becomes the 3rd defender.

Nate Clements Touted #3 Top Free Agent ...
bluv replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think McGee has struggle more playing this Tampa 2 zone coverage than playing more man to man as it seems to leave him on an island playing 5 yards off a receiver which makes him susceptible to double moves. -
O-line shuffle won't help as much as playcalling

You and Holcomb's Arm go get married, have some babies and spend some time together away from a computer! You can never have an intelligent post without these numb nuts trying to throw a low blow or cheap shot in! -
O-line shuffle won't help as much as playcalling
bluv replied to bluv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have rarely ever seen the Bills call an audible, even when we had a veteran QB in Drew. -
and start to attack the whole field and get everyone involved. WM runs 85% of the time up the middle; hardly any off tackle plays or outside runs. Maybe once or twice a game will we allow JP to pass on the move either via a rollout or moving pocket. And when pass we hardly ever attack the middle of the field. We never consistently get the TE's or RB's involved in the passing game. That has been the big problem; bigger than the blocking for even though JP has been sacked a lot, I'm more concerned with the plays where he has had time and not produced. Either it's Fairchild not calling the right plays or JP not finding the open guys or a combination of both that is holding us back offensively. The sad thing is that we have shown that we have talented skilled players who are under utilized and are successful when giving the opportunity. But they are rarely utilized; EXCEPT in the first 2-3 drives of the game. This is where my big beef lies. Personally I think Fairchild is a better playcalling than a gameplanner and he is not the proper adjustments or sticking with whats working and making the D adjust. For instance the past 2 years we have been quick starters on offense. There was a stat that showed that JP had scored a touchdown in 8 of his first 15 possesions. And a lot of time in the first few drives it seems they attack more of the whole field and get everybody involved. I'm guessing it is because the first few plays are scripted. But after the first 2-3 drives it seems as if the plays or personell groups that were effective aren't utilized more and so nothing on offense is never established and thus we stop dictating to the defense to make them adjust. After those first few successful drives it seems as if we lose focus and we just start trying anything. They always have a few good offensive flashes a game but they can't put it together and keep pressure on the D. From what I have seen there is no way we would be last in offense in WM and the TE's were more involved in the passing game combined with attacking the middle of the field with our slot receivers. Our gameplanning has been suspect for the past 5 years and I hoped Fairchild would be better but he seems to be like the rest: he hasn't established an offensive identity for this team, make the proper adjustments, or but our best players in the best positions to make plays.

This is not what being a Bills fan is about

Still no excuse so don't try to defend it! -

Of course I do; I was trying to be a little sarcastic. You'd think that since it so costly these days to be able to afford to go and park at an NFL stadium that those who are able to attend would definitely have more class to not display such conduct as most would be career oriented people or a little money and wouldn't dare risk their livelihoods and the risk of being sued over a stinking football game! When such gang attacks do occur the image that goes thru most peoples minds is that of "thugs in da hood" but it happens a lot more at sports stadiums across America than most think! -

Regardless it's a gang of men attacking one guy who happens to be wearing the wrong colors. No way anybody tries to defend that you can't. That is a thug mentality; you'd think that only happened in the hood! -

And what makes it even sadder is that they can see one so-so performance from another young QB and make it seem like they are consistently better than JP. One week it was Leinart, now it is Romo. Maybe we should have signed Romo 4 years ago instead of Bledsoe! Some of the JP haters refuse to give him ANY credit for progressing the 1st 4 weeks, always focusing on the negatives and what he hasn't done or where he should be after 16 starts but then after playing against 2 top 5 defenses 2 of the past 3 weeks they are quick to point out that he is not getting any better. -

I wonder if some of these other QB's fans who want to see them fall on thier faces were watching the game where JP throw for 300 yards plus in a loss to the Jets and then follow it up with a very efficient game in a win against a tough defense against the Vikings and used that and say : "There is as an example of a fine young QB who is progressing! -
Player by player offensive assessment this year
bluv replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It also would help if they actually got the TE's involved in the passing game. That is why the passing game for us doesn't work with in base personell as we don't throw the ball to the TE's or backs so it makes us easy to defend and take away WR's on the outside. And to make it worse, WM and Royal seem to be viable targets when the ball is thrown to them. -
Player by player offensive assessment this year
bluv replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All you have to do is look at the Colts and the Pats. The fact that Clark is so versatile and can be split out wide their single back, 2 TE set has been a killer. For us I'd prefer to have either Parrish or Reed in the slot but the few times they have split Royals out he has been impressive. Maybe they should use the 2 TE set more and split him and Everett out more. My biggest gripe is that Shelton is not that much of a difference maker on the field in the run game and no factor whatsoever in the passing game and when he is in the game we run 80% of the time and defenses key on that. Combine that with the fact that WM seems to favor the offtackle and cutback type runs where you can use your vision more, l'd like to see more stretch and off tackle runs called and oonly bring Shelton in on goaline. -
My 10 cents on the rest of the season
bluv replied to TravelingDad48's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe it is better for us not to get a top 5 pick for it will be a boom or bust situation. Then instead of it just dealing with the rabid fans on this board who just bash players who aren't Pro Bowlers in their 2nd year, it will be that we will be financially committed to a developing player who might not ever become a top player but yet we are paying him guaranteed money, being one of the highest paid players in the league. That is why losing teams keep losing as they have so much money tied to top draft picks that aren't producing. Look at all the top picks the Cardinals have on their offensive line; how has that panned out? If that doesn't convince you then all I have to say is two words: MIKE WILLIAMS; ANY QUESTIONS? -

Why does everytime a young QB have one good game he is compared to JP? JP will be fine. But I was impressed with Romo. He has been coached well for the last 3-4 years in the same system and I guess the coaches could see in practice that he was ready. It is only one game but in that game he showed more poise and field awareness that Bledsoe has ever showed in his 13 years. The one thing I like about Romo is the one thing I think that has been over coached to JP is playing with controlled recklessness. I mean last year JP like Romo did a few times last night would scramble and pick up a 3rd and 2 or 4 with no hesitation if his man wasn't open. Now JP will hold onto the ball until the last minute; sometimes scramble around on 3rd and 4 or less waiting for a receiver to come open like it is 3rd and 15 and then throw the ball away when if he hadn't hesistated could have easily picked up a 1st down. JP needs to do more of that; who cares if they say he runs too muc; keep the chains moving! Also I think we need to get that gunslinger mentality back in JP a little so that he will take more chances and give our players a chance to make plays. -
What are you talking about; most on this board are like the media in that over react to good and bad performances. Some don't realize that the media is paid to do this, create hysteria just to create a story to sell. Take JP for instance. I can see some idiotic fan jumping on any QB expecting him to only need a few games to be an All Pro. But the media guys are suppose to know better as they are suppose to be EXPERTS who spend their entire day studying the game. Especially the guy from the NFL network; I think Al Shoftner is his name last week know good and well that there is no reason for the Bills who in the preseaosn was expected to win no more than 5 games to change their young QB who they moved up to get when he has only 16 starts;7 under a new system. Now I can see if he showed absolutely no improvement whatsoever or was throwing 3-4 ints a game and completed less than half of his passes. That guy must also know that we have no definite upgrade on the bench or expecting to compete this year. His job was to create havoc among Bills fans to get more fans questioning JP as a starter.
