But on those plays blitzes were called. We picked them up and at least gave JP time to setup and Evans to get down the field. The past 2 games JP didn't even have time to setup for when he did he was getting smashed! If you don't think that is abig difference look at Peyton struggling against the 'Girls!

I've always thought WM runs better out of a singleback formation. If the pass protection builds from this game and we can afford to spread the field more, I think WM would have more success as defenses wouldn't be able to key in on him based on personell and plus I think he would benefit from more cutback type runs.

A-Train struggled today and was stopped on a couple of key 3rd and short downs. He hit the hole pretty hard on those plays as well. Just goes to show that if the O-line doesn't open up a hole or gets a push no RB can consistently pickup yardage on his own! If we open it up for the rest of the year and run more from a 3 WR set and pass to the back as much as we did today, WM might be itching to get back on the field!

Like I said the haters would point out that we are playing the Texans
-
don't..
-
They will; they will either give all the credit to Lee or just say we were playing the Texans!
-
Not if they only run when they bring Shelton in as it is obvious. I say stay in the spread, force Texans to cover and mix the pass with some smashing runs by A-Train. If they get conservative in the next 3 quarters and not force the Texans to adjust we may allow them to get back in the game!
-
What; the Bills actually run the ball in a 3 WR formation? Guess what it worked!
-
I can never understand the Bills; one week we slow down the Colts the next we let the Texans move the ball up and down the field like the 90 Bills!
-
Sad but true; at least make it closer than it should be!
-
Just our luck; our most exciting game so far and we can't watch it in high def!
-
That injury to CV was a blessing in disguise as he was playing hurt and not productive. If you give JP time he can burn you!
-
Like I've said if you stop Lee Evans, take away the run, and pressure JP you can easily shutdown the Bills. But if you don't stop 83 and the O-line actually gives JP time to find him then watch out!
-
Johnny Johnson of the Cardinals rushed for 900 plus yards in the early 90's
-
1st down was shotgun as well....

I'm not expecting much but if we win our next 3; aginst the Texans, Jaguars, and Chargers then I might get my hopes up for the last 4 games are very winnable; especially if the Ravens don't have anything to gain playing that last game. But just our luck their backup RB has a breakout game and we lose and miss the playoffs!
-
That's then. This year if we win out (which will not happen but at least I can hope) they will make the playoffs.
-
No, but I can at least hope. The same way I felt last week against the Colts as most felt we had no chance but we almost came through. I hope the Bills can at least give me some hope the rest of the year; that's all we have left!

3 of our last 7 games are against teams on your final wildcard list with records better or equal to ours: NYJ, Jax,Mia. And there are only 2 games that seperate us. While I don't think we can pull it out you never know. Besides the Bear and 2nd Pats game we have had a chance to win every game. If we do finish 9-7 and miss the playoffs, we will look back at the close ones that we let get away. But then again we won 3 close games as well! I would love a strong finish to at least make the team exciting. I don't want to see us get a top 5 pick next year for if that pick doesn't pan out we will be stuck with a high priced bust for 4 years.
-
Not really. The biggest hurdle is not the other teams collapsing but the Bills winning out. 2 years ago we started 0-4 and then 3-6. We won 6 straight but lost that season finale against the Steelers that would have put us in the playoffs. With this team I just don't see it unless the O-line improves dramatically as the guys settle to their new positions. CV who was playing hurt being replaced by Preston can be a step in the right direction if Preston improves with playing time. I don't see this team making the move but you never know. Let's hope it starts this week and we blow out the Texans; it would feel good to see a Bills team dominate for a change!

The blocking the past 2 weeks has been horrendous. That is why the playcalling has been so conservative. At least the first 7 games half of the sackes were ones in which JP held the ball too long; now he barely has time to setup! I think a lot of that has been attributed to CV trying to play on a bad ankle as a lot of the pressure has been coming up the middle so JP has no pocket to step into. Now that CV has gotten hurt and is hopefully out for the season maybe Preston, Reyes, or Merz will be an upgrade at RG. If we can even get back to the pass protection we had earlier in the season I would like to see them open up the playbook a little more.

I like PTI and Around the Horn but the best show on ESPN is Edge NFL Matchup. The way Jaworski and HOdge break down the game using the coaching tape is great; too bad it is only 30 minutes long. I wish more NFL shows would use more of the coaching tape footage to break down plays. I definitely don't know why the NFL network doesn't have such a show. I mean they have the 3 hour Point after show they focuses mostly on interviews and TV highlights; between all those cheerleader contest they have I'm sure they can find a way to fit in a 3 hour show that breaks down the game using the coaching tape!

The biggest thing to set this team back was when JP broke his leg his rookie year in 2004. We started 0-4. At the mid point when we were 3-6, I'm pretty sure JP would have been given a chance to step in and play if he had been healthy and able to practice that year. Drew wasn't playing that great but with a strong D we rallied to finish 9-7 and just miss the playoffs. Even if we didn't finish strong with a rookie QB, I'd much rather have him go through the learning curves the last half that season and then when he was made the starter the next season it wouldn't have been as many questions about showing Drew the door. At least by now we would have a better feel for where he is at as a QB. I feel for the kid. This is the first 1st rd QB we have had since Kelly. On the real, a lot of Bills fans have been quick to turn on QB's. But the past 7 losing seasons have made it even worse and most don't have the patience to wait on a young QB to develop. I mean if most can turn on a young QB who missed most of his rookie season with a broke leg and has started only 17 games split over 2 years and coaching staff and while he is far from a polished product treat him like he is the worse QB in the league is just crazy.

I think it is for CV play hasn't been good all year. Preston, Reyes, or Merz may be an upgrade. Let's hope!

This John Beck guy sounds a lot like JP Losman from Tulane! He was considered to have the strongest arm and the fastest QB in his draft class as well but played at a smaller school. I agree with Quinn; he is no more a guarntee than the next 1st rnd QB bust. The only difference between Quin and JP is that the fans and media will have more patience with his development since he played at Notre Dame. If you want a perfect example look at Matt Leinart.
