Any Coincidence that we're playing better
bluv replied to damaynman150's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whatever! Some are giving the Chargers too much credit on D as they have been toasted a couple ot times in the last 5 games. If they don't respect Lee he will eat them alive! If they play cover 2 then WM will have more room to run. I think the O-line has improved a lot and as long as they play average we will be in it as long as our D doesn't give up 30 plus points! -
I agree with everything you said about WM as he showed a lot of courage playing yesterday and too many fans are quick to judge him. But this comment about TH is just unnecesary as he gave his all to us and ran hard every play.

LT would rush for 400 yards if we switched to a 3-4! Our DE's, especially Schoebel aren't built for a 3-4 and we definitely don't have a 2 gap NT!

You watch it:the media will jump on JP & da Bills
bluv replied to bluv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could care less about what the media thinks as well. But if we continue to win and/or JP continues to play well all those guys in the media and some fans who treat him like he is a joke or a subpar QB will start to lick his you know what! When we started off 2-2 some had gave us a little mention but didn't want to go out on a limb. Then the Bears ended that talk! All the things I mentioned, mark my words will come out if we continue to win. All those GMs will admit or act like they gave a hard look at JP and start to point out all the positive stats he has and the fact that he has only started 18 games playing on a subpar team. Some will start to compare him to those in his draft class and actually elevate him over some; especially Eli who I always thought was overrated. -

But IF they DO, the bandwagons riders will come on quick. They almost beat the Colts, put up astronomical stats against Houston, beat a good team in Jaguars and a great team in the Chargers. If they do, beleive me, we will finally start to get some recognition, NO DOUBT! -
especially if we win next week. Instead of JP and Bills being considered a joke you will start to here how many GM's were actually in awe of JP's athletic abilities and how he was the fastest QB with the strongest arm in the 2004 draft and that were thinking hard about making a move for him. Instead of JP not being eligible to be included in discussions regarding his draft class, it would be how he and Rivers might be the cream of the crop since Eli and Ben play have fell off and how maybe they weren't as good as advertised and were just being carried by good teams and having a better supporting cast than JP. If we really rebound, make the playoffs and actually win a playoff game, they will start to ask JP how he felt about the ESPN NFL fantasy commercial that made fun of him where the guy being sarcastic was saying that:"JP Losman is the reincarnation of Kenny Stabler!" And how Buffalo is better than you think as they have lost close games to good teams. If we do continue to win for the next 2,3 games just notice how JP and Buffalo begins to roll of their lips.

I'm glad they are finally using more singleback formations with a quicker passing game. At least since they run out of that formation more it isn't as predictable. I just wonder what we could do if we had either or both: A bigger WR or beeter receiving TE's to compliment Evans.
-
I give WM much credit; especially after diving in the end zone playing hurt. If the Bills continue to utilize more singleback set and don't allow quick penetration, WM cutback style will be much more productive.

DT is clearly the biggest need at this point as we need a pluuger to line up next to Tripplett or a least put in on run downs. If FA losses of London and Clemens happen then LB and CB will be the biggest needs as these guys will be tough to replace. If the O-line continues to block the way they have the past 2 ball games then there is no way I throw money at a high priced free agent or a high draft pick. Sacks are up this year all over the league. As long as they can give JP average protection we will be fine as long as he has more options than just Evans to throw the ball to. If we can develop a consistent passing game then we can keep that 8 defender out the box and WM showed you yesterday what he can do if defenders keep that 8th man out the box fearing Evans. Once we stop utlizing Evans, the 8th man returned and the running game fell off.
-
This refernce to Posey and being the SAM LB is exactly the theory I had been thinking as to why he hasn't had any game changing plays.

Price saved himself with a great TD pass but besides that he has done nothing. The past 2 preseasons Aikens has performed well and while it is just preseason he did seem to have chemistry with JP plus he is the biggest most physical WR we have and could probably get seperation against physical coverage. He was used as a practice dummy the past week to help Nate prepare for Johnson. Also Davis could at least stretch the D with his speed and he and JP have been close to hooking up a couple times this season. What do we have to lose? I mean we changed our whole O-line at mid season. I know some will just assume Aiken or Davis sucks but you never know. But one thing we do know is that Price has not proven to be a consistent threat opposite Lee and since JP and Lee has awaken defensive coordinators and will make them double team him again, if nobody else gets open or they move Lee around we will be right back to being offensive on offense, stinking up the joint!
-
And besides Evans JP has none of the above plus poor blocking!
-
Even though the pass protection was horrible in those 2 games, I agree with you. The playcalling was timid and uncreative.

If you give JP time to throw he can make any pass
bluv replied to bluv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He might not produce numbers like that every game but if he plays in a system that gives him average pass protection without having to max protect and put out multiple targets that can get open he will at least be better than average for he hasn't shown he can consistently read coverages and find the open WR he has definitely shown that when he decides to throw, he can consistently hit them if they are open and he is given time to set his feet. That is more than you can ask from a 3rd year QB who has started 18 games! -

No. You need to give Drew an extra second more than JP. Plus Drew hasn't shown the ability to run a quick passing game for his setup is too slow. And Drew is suppose to be a veteran but he still makes rookie mistakes. JP has upside; who knows how he will turn out; you know what you have in Drew! We had good pass protection yesterday but it was good for us; it's not like he had all day to throw the ball. Plus JP is mobile. The reason why he hasn't shown it so far is that he barely has time to setup so he either must unleash the ball or get knocked on his back. -
I've said it earlier and a few JP haters laughed at me; especially the past 2 weeks. From what I have seen of him this year is that when he is given the time to set his feet he can consistently hit open receivers making any type pass that needs to be thrown. Few want to give him credit for that as they just want to blast him and treat him like he was the worse QB in the league. Last year he consistently missed a lot of open guys and showed no touch on the short throws. This year that has no been the case. While he still might make a couple of bad throws (like the int yesterday) or look confuse at times (like any other young QB) if you give him time and targets get open he can hit them. Yesterday was the best pass blocking day we have had all year. I know it was the Texans; if next week or the rest of the year for that matter the O-line blocked like they did against the Packers and the Colts he will look like Brady and Peyton do when they are getting blasted in the pocket: flusterd, fumbling the ball, and rushing throws!

Well at least they made good half-time adjustments on D

Some will never be happy until we field an All Pro team at every position that puts up Tecmo Bowl type stats! All of our best players get this type treatment, in both wins or losses. It seems the haters just find aplayer to bash and flip flop from week to week. Players such as AS, WM, Nate, TKO, Evans, while not the best players at their positions are pretty good and a lot of team would like them on their squads!
-
No doubt. I'm not a big WM fan either but while he is not the best back in the league he is a good one playing on a bad offensive team with no scheme and is predictable. I'm just hoping that with today's success maybe we have develop some type of offensive identity and maybe WM can thrive we he comes back. I don't feel we lose much with the A-Train but WM is better; especially in space. Today they actually opened the offense up, spread the field and actually threw the ball to the RB. The only thing the Bills have asked WM to do so far is run the ball up the middle; barely to the outside or throw him the ball. Just like JP, we need to see what WM can do if he is actually given a chance to show his versatility.
-
I can see if WM had signed a new contract and was paid like a top 3 RB. When he is healthy, no matter what aybody wants to say he is ranked among the top 10 backs. Based on his pay and production they are about equal. Face it: WM is here and isn't going anywhere until his contract is up. And while I accused him of dancing in the 1st 2 games, he has ran hard and consistent ever since. If WM was the weakest player on this team then we'd be 10-0 and have a team full of not just good but great players!
-
That still doesn't negate the fact that on that play he didn't have much time in the pocket. On those type plays where the D blitzes and plays man to man it's easier to just let it fly and hope the WR beats his man. If they get that same type of pressure only rushing 4 then it's not so simple. Earlier in the year defense kept a saftey over the top the keep Evans from making the big play. The past few weeks the pass protection has been so bad it didn't matter. If the O-line pass blocks this well from here on out I guarantee you won't see 7-8 defenders in the box from here on out for if they do Evans will make them pay!
-
You just sound like a Hurricanes who just didn't care much for WM as you did Gore. I have a cousin who is a big Michigan fan but who doesn't like Brady; he still won't acknowledge Brady as being a top 5 QB!
-
It's a shame; that is why I started this tread and I expected such responses. The haters can't hate on JP or the O-line this week so they have to hate on WM who didn't even play. Most should just be happy and enjoy the win. We are far from an elite team so all this nitpicking is senseless. For all our good but not great players we have but are always hated on this board for some reason(WM,Clemens,Evans,Spikes, Schoebel; etc) there are a lot of teams that would be happy with them.
-
Most of the fans on this board who ran him out of town for the flashier player in WM! Face it: WM is on this team and while he is not the best back in the league he is one of the best; at least a top 10 back when healthy. Haters: stop bashing all our good players just because they are not great and worrying about replacing them and trying to assemble an All-Pro team. This team has way more players to worry about than WM!
-
Whatever; you were probably one of those who ran him out of town!
