My obsession with this team's progression
bluv replied to The_Real's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Clemens, FLetcher, and Gandy should be resigned for reasonable prices without breaking the bank and that where we really need an upgrade is at DT and WR. Anderson/Williams should be coming off the bench to spell a quality run stuffer. Price is not a big enough threat or gets open consistent enought o draw attention away from Lee. As far as the O-line goes there is not a draft pick that would make an immediate impact plus the free agent pool is not that great so I'd stick with what we have as they have developed chemistry and have played well for the past 5 games. Next year we need to keep the players we have and make a few minor upgrades at WR and DT and we should compete. -
What game will you look back and say what if?
bluv replied to Catholic Guilt's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just hope we don't try to fine tune our team and destroy the chemistry we are starting to establish. We should re-sign our own; Clemens is the only one that should be expensive. The only real upgrades we need are a 2nd WR threat and a hard nose DT. All other positions, while they aren't all Pro Bowlers are solid enough to win with. You don't need a team full of All-Pros just good players who play great together. If you want a paper champion team look no further than the Carolina Panthers or Washington Redskins! -
Yeah slow your role buddy! Maybe next year when we add a compliment WR to Lee and JP passes for 3800 yards and 25 plus TD's then he may get overlooked as most Bills players are! On the real you should be making a case for Lee as far as Pro Bowl goes!

Too bad JP isn't named Vince Young or Matt Leinart

Says who; a couple of pre draft analyst who don't even know JP but picked this up along with other info just ho throw into their pro/con analysis? Bottom line as I saw earlier this season even when he was "struggling", when the O-line gave him time to throw he consistently was hitting open receivers all year long as opposed to last season where his accruacy was shot as he rushed passes. Just imagine if we had another WR threat opposite Lee? What if JP had more games where he attempted more than 20 passes? Now that the O-line has improved dramatically in the pass blocking area (thank god for CV season ending injury vs his nagging injuries!) the TE's can be a factor in the passing game. I just hope now that in the offseason the Bills try hard to keep the players we have and don't get too cute int trying to fine tune this team and just keep the chemistry that we have. I know some want us to upgrade the O-line, particualry the guards but I say let them grow together and keep their chemistry. An upgrade might actually be more in name and salary than in gameplay. We have 5 young players on the O-line that will get better with time; look at the progress they made in 5 games! On offense a better compliment WR must be found; we we do that, the running game will be more consistent as teams will have to defend the pass and honor JP and Lee. They want be making excuses that they only got a few bigplays for they will be expecting them. If this team re-signs it's own, add a run stuffing DT to the mix we can be a force for the next 2-3 years as we have a young team. -
What if we had another receiving threat or Moulds had stayed and was willing to take a back seat and actually tried to mesh with JP than complain and jump on pop gun arm KH fan club? More power to JP thriving with limited skill players, average blocking, and few pass attempts!

Peter King might give him a little shout out when he notices the stats.... -
If it don't make dollars it don't make sense. Can't fault Moulds if he did go for the money plus in today's NFL you never know who's going to be succesful year in and year out. Before the season if you had to pick between playing for the Saints for more money or sacrifice for the good of the team and a cahance to play for a ring with the Panthers you'd thought the Panthers were a shoe in for at least a playoff run. Ask Keyshawn how it is working out for him in Carolina! I miss Moulds a little as well but if he was still here he would be the number 1 WR which would take the focus off Lee and we'd be stuck with 10 yard catches versus 50 yard bombs! If Eric had more chemistry with JP and din't cry and campaign so hard for KH I'd love to have him on this team as he had been through so much losing and QB's he desrve to have some success with this organization. He could have been the physical WR that we need opposite Lee IF he wanted to take a back seat. He is still a much more viable option than Price or Reed.

I mean look at Vince Young; while he has made a few plays with his legs the Titans are getting a lot of respect and VY too much credit. I mean they get 3 defensive TD's and all I can hear about the Titans are that VY has led them to 5 straight victories. I mean VY almost lost the game for crying out loud! The media is still waiting for Leinart to break out so that they can annoint him. I'll bet if anyone of them has played the way JP has the past 4-5 games they'd be all up on them licking their you know what! I guess it means more where you played in college and how you were projected to play than how you actually play that means something to some! I mean after a huge passing game and game winning TD against the Titans, JP has led us to 3 big wins; the last 2 he has led us to DOMINATING wins against division opponenets who have been on a run. 52-13 oustcoring our foes the past 2 weeks and still not much love for JP or the Bills in the media. How is that so? I guess a lot of those media types hate to eat crow! Oh well go Bills, crush VY next week and maybe then we can open some eyes!

As well as the Matt Leinart or Brady Quinn fan club as well..

That will never happen; that's like Bush admitting he messed up attacking Iraq! -

Especially when given time to throw. I mean besides the play where JP got away from Traylor and the screen pass where Taylor was unblocked we haven't seen a D-lineman get close to JP! Good pass protection; run blocking so-so. -
Then they will jump on his bandwagon and act like he should have been given more serious consideration in his draft class being that he had the strongest arm and the fastest legs but played at a smaller school. Has anyone noticed how the whispers regarding the Bills should have taken Leinart or Cutler have died down quite a bit...the haters are hoping JP struggles for a game or 2 so they can bring those names up. I hope JP comes out and have a bust out year like Drew Brees has and then he can come back like Mike Jones: BACK THEN YOU DIDN'T WANT ME, NOW I'M HOT YOU'RE ALL ON ME!!
-
The only money he should spend is to keep the good players that we do have in Clemens and Fletcher; like we should have done when it came to keeping Pat Williams a Buffalo Bill! There are no free agents out there worth breaking the bank for just because we have the extra loot. Why be like the Redskins and messed up the little chemistry that we do have by trying to fine tune? I say try to get another solid draft and sign reasonable free agents.
-
I don't know about that for I have seen him give up at least 3 playing at both LT and RT. But if I am wrong and the only sack he is given credit for was the one against the Chargers where JP slipped and fell backwards into Merriman then definitely more power to Peters! Thank god we re-signed him cheap for the next 3 years. If he continues his play he should NO DOUBT be rewarded witha rich contract when it is time to re-new for he would have PROVED and EARNED a big payday unlike those high draft picks everbody seems to want us to select and make rich without earning it!
-
Exactly. Reed dropped one past yesterday, the 1st I can remember this season and now he is label Hands of stone Reed based on his previous 3 years. While we are at it Lindell misses the FG against the Colts and all of a sudden some bring up 2004. It is like someone who knew you as a baby; like an older sibling: they can never get over the fact that they knew you when you were crawling around pooping in diapers! No matter how much you have grown and progressed they can never get over how things use to to be!

2 things that have led to the resurgent Bills
bluv replied to Brand J's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah that was the dumbest call of all times. While we were ready for their quick call, why did Chad walk away to the sideline with 20 seconds left on the playcock? To the bare minimum they should have at least tried to draw us offsides! -
Exactly. For us to have rookie pair of safeties they have performed far better than expected. While they haven't made many big plays they have been in position and haven't given up many either. Teams have tried to exploit them and if they could torch them they would. If the Bills can get a tough anchor DT to replace Anderson and resign Fletcher and Clemens they might be a top 10 or even 5 ranked defense next year.
-
Paying big money for a high unproven draft pick is just as bad. If there aren't any DT worthy of selection when we are up or a better playmaking WR or RB is available I'd make a jump in a heartbeat!
-
Agreed wholeheartedly!
-
So would Jerry Porter for the right price...
-
Who doesn't? I wish we had an offense like the Colts where we have a passing and running game built off each other so that it keeps the D off balance when they try to stop a play they know is coming.
-
Or Vilma talking smack....TALK ON!!!WM will show you what he is talking about!
-
On that play I'll agree somewhat but for the whole game on 3rd and short we have been in 3 WR or shotgun. At least on the 77 yard pass play we were under center in 3 WR giving a threat of a run. In this game it probably won't matter but I'd like to see us run more with 3 WR and pass more with 2 RB formations to keep the D off balance. Just mitpicking while we DOMINATE!
-
Good conversion on 3rd and 2 but with the personell it has been so obvious as to our intentions on 3rd and short

These commentators need to get that Packers game out their mind...
