  1. I'm all for winning. If he can be signed for cheap and can perform on the field I have no bojection. Ricky at least is not a TO type player that can divide a locker room
  2. One thing I can say is that if we keep this mentality that we will not win next year or that we are 2,3 years from being competitive then we never will be! In todays NFL a team can go from worse to first in one season or vice versa. And no matter how young our core group is, they will never play together more than 3,4 years due to salary cap restrictions. So that is why I want to see the best product on the field year after the year; the only position I have patience for development is QB and that is only in the case where a young QB is not holding back a competitive team.
  3. This is one quote I definitely agree with for as I said all last year that McGahee doesn't seem comfortable following a FB through a hole and that he would produced better in a single-back zone blocking scheme that would allow him to improvise. I wish all year long that we could line up with 3 WR more with either Reed or Parrish in the slot so that way we could force the D to match up and be less predictable. Instead we left a FB on the field who along with the TE wasn't any factlor in the passing game whatsoever, made the offense predictable as we ran %85 of the time with a FB in the game, and had a RB who doesn't seem natural following a FB through the whole. I'm not going to predict what WM would do in such an offense but with our supposedly better blocking I would have loved to at least give him a try in 2007 with such a spread offense philosophy for with our fast WR I think we left too many bullets in the gun in 2006!
  4. Exactly! ANd why base all this on speculation of a holdout? What leverage does WM have? It's not like he has came off a great year or two and has been franchised! His only leverage option is to go out and put it all out on th field in 2007. Some say if he has a good year in 2007 we will not be able to sgn him and let him walk and get nothing in return. If he does that then we will be a better team in 2007! Then we need to worry about is he worth signing to a big money contract. I'll just say that I don't want to go into 2007 with subpar RB's when we have a top 10 caliber equivalent TALENT RB on our team who has underachieved on a subpar offense without getting proper compensation in return; I'd rather take my chances with WM and see if he can turn it around if we don't get at least a 2nd rnd pick.
  5. Hopefully he has the moves and agility as these typs does as well. Based on his size though, most of today's NFL LB will run him over on blitz pickup!
  6. You want to get something but not just take anything! I can see if we owed him a huge bonus. If he plays like the top talent he is supposed to be then the Bills will be a better team in 2007; who cares if he will want more money or if he really wants to remain a Bill? Some people lose sight of the main focus which is to WIN; who cares if we build up his resume and signs a big contract with another team? It happens all the time in sports! No NFL team can keep all 3 star skilled position players (QB,WR,RB) together for more than 3-4 years together in today's NFL. If WM has a big year it will be due more to better blocking and if we draft a replacement who shares the load then we will be prepared in 2008.
  7. You're missing the point. WM is an average RB who ran behind average blocking playing on a subpar offense with QB question marks. I'm not trying to make excuses for WM but the same ones who ran TH out of town, labeled him as a below average RB, pointing out his faults and not given him credit for what he is good at are doing the same to WM and in fact even worse. The Bills are a better team with WM than they would be with RBs they are looking to bring in and just because you or other fans don't either like or respect him his team mates do as he has shown the willingness to play hurt. So unless you get a 2nd round pick or trade/draft an upgrade at RB, the Bills will be worse at RB in 2007. I say give WM a chance to show what he got behind supposedly better blocking if we don't get any return value for while he is not a top RB, he is a top talent who may shine with a better O-line. Some will say that we won't compete next year anyway but you never know in today's NFL. You'd feel bad if the only thing holding this team back was the running game but WM was burning it up for his new team. You'll feel even worse if we sign Chris Brown and he gets hurt (the usual) and Shaud WIlliams is our feature back! And you speak of LJ; he didn't exactly light the league up in his 1st few years either.
  8. Travis was too slow;couldn't take it the distance, fumbled too much; not a factor in the passing game. Never mind he always rans hard, never let the 1st defender bring him down and wanted to be a Buffalo Bill as he was a lifelong fan! Willis is a game breaker! That was most on this board 4 years ago. Now most of the same are trying to run Willis out just as fast. I say unless we get a 2nd round pick for WM, I say keep him and give him a chance to run behind our supposedly improved O-line and draft a replacement RB either this year or next or sign from a better free agent crop next year. While WM is not the hit the hole and slam it up in there type of back, he can do some damage when he is allowed to get to the edge, especially with his wicked stiff arm. Why be so quick to run him out of town; for Dillion or Chris Brown? I mean we get no major savings by trading him; we just hate to lose him for nothing in free agency next year. So what? If WM has a breakout year next year and he and has agent want big money then we either say look you have earned it and proved your worth or one season doesn't make a career and let him walk. No matter what you think of WM as a person, this team would still be better next year with WM than the RBs mentioned running behind better blocking; if the blocking doesn't improve THEN IT WON'T MATTER WHO RUNS!
  9. Regardless at the right price, he and Royal would look nice in a 2 TE set!
  10. Instead of comparing Fletcher to Walker, I'd rather resign Fletcher than sign Kelsay to as big of a deal as we did. I mean we had better replacements at DE than we have at MLB and plus Fletcher was a leader on this team. I'd rather pursue Patrick Kerney than pay Kelsay big bucks! To me this was the only negative move Levy made the past 2 weeks: keeping Kelsay and paying him more than Schoebel and close to the same amount it would have cost to keep Fletcher. I mean if we had made the same moves but re-signed Fletch instead of Kelsay most would be estactic as Nate just got way too much money from the 49ers and will be labeled a bust for that contract.
  11. Bottom Line: with Nate and Fletcher, even thought they were good players, we never won with them. So why break the bank to keep them and not take a chance on improving other aspects of the the team, mainly a O-line fans have cried about for years? I mean until the 2nd half of 2006, most on this board labeled Nate as being over rated. While I think he is a good player there is no way I would have wanted the Bills to sign him to the contract the 49ers did. I wish we could have kept Fletcher even more but again why pay an aging MLB top money when your team is not one player from being competitve? I think that both Nate and Fletcher are replaceable. On a scale of 1 to 10 they are maybe 8 to 8.5 type players who are now paid like 10'. I like the moves in that if Youbouty or a replacement MLB (either via the draft or Crowell) steps in and plays well, maybe at a 7 level then we may have improved this team tremendously with young talent. But I don't think that with Nate or Fletcher on this team signed with big money would have made the Bills any better next year - except on Madden!
  12. I hope we resign Gandy and move him to RG. He didn't play too bad at LG and I think he'll be a good fit. Like I've said numerous times before: you can't have a Pro Bowler at every position!
  13. I hope we draft Patrick Willis in the 1st and maybe move up and take either Tank Tyler at DT or a top CB. Or if we do draft Okoye (or Branch if he falls), move up and take the MLB from Penn State. Since we have attempted to address the O-line already, we have to hope that Youbouty can step up and be the solid DB he is expected to be. I mean while he may not be the player Nate is, Nate was definitely not worth being the highest paid defender in the league and far from replaceable. We also have to hope that if Crowell is needed to step in at MLB he can at least be serviceable. I'd rather see us draft a stud MLB and have him flanked by Crowell and Spikes with a plug DT in front of them letting them run to the ball. Another concern for me is WR and bieng that this draft is deep at WR, I'm hoping we can find JP a new big target who can take some heat of Lee.
  14. In that SB it was Beebe, Kenneth Davis, McKellar dropping sure TD passes. While Reed dropped a few passes in SB XXV he never drop any TD passes in any of our 4 SB losses. Now losing his compusure and slammimg his helmet down for a 15 yard penalty is a different story...
  15. Same for Thurman; he sucked in 3 straight SB's! But should hat keep him out the Hall? HE!! NO!!! If it wasn't for him just like Andre we wouldn't have made 4 straight SB. I just wish we had got Ted Washington a couple of years earlier for if we did we would have won at least 2 of those Super Bowls; even with Kelso playing 50 yards off the LOS!
  16. Willis wouldn't be bad but I still think we have good cover 2 LB prospects on our rosters. What we don't have is a run stopping DT or a big fast WR threat that can draw double teams off Lee. With the play of the O-line in the last 6 games and the vast improvement of JP if we can find a consistent threat opposite Lee then we may have some potential on offense as the run game will open up even more as there will be less defenders in the box. On Defense we already have decent pressure coming from our DE's, fast LB's and a good young tandem at both safety spots. Playing cover two, great corner play is good but not a necessity. If we add a good run stuffing DT to that rotation and force teams into more 3rd and longs our D will definitely be a force to be reckon with and maybe we can get back to the post season; MAYBE!
  17. That was just ONE so-so game; at least he showed up and had 8 grabs! I mean Marvin Harrison has been subpar not in SB but in many playoff games! I mean the Lynn Swann comparison is BS for if you ask me just being lucky to have the opportunity to play in a SB and having a few good games shouldn't define a HOF career. Stallworth was way better than Swann year in and year out. But being that those games were played before the technology age before the internet, before Fantasy Football and before the Sunday Ticket he was overglorified because the SB was one of the few times the fans got to see some in action and he played outstanding. For all of our superstars Reed and Cornileus Bennet were the only ones who at least played average in all 4 SB's. In the 1st Super Bowl against the Cowboys Reed was the ONLY Buffalo Bill to show up! And TT, while I love him to death might as well not showed up for the next 3 SBs but should that keep him out the HOF, HELL NO as he as well as Andre had so many big games in the season and playoffs that got us there.
  18. With Peters being the next great LT and Pennington proving capable at RT and no guards worthy of a 1st rnd pick, we should definitely get either a run stuffing DT or WR as they really are our biggest needs. A 1st rd rookie CB or MLB in this draft to replace Nate or Fletcher will probably be no better than the prospects we currently have in Youbouty or moving Crowell to MLB. I hope Branch falls to us. And then I hope we repeat 2006 draft and move back in the 1st round and take one of the best WR available as this draft is full of good WR prospects; I'm hoping it will be either Sidney Rice or the Bowe from LSU. If Branch doesn't fall then I'd rather see us take the best WR prospect, maybe Jarret from USC and go from there as there will probably not be a DT worth jumping back in the 1st round to get at the later picks; if a top rated MLB or DB is still available maybe but as I said earlier they probably won't be better than the prospects we have as this draft is weak at those positions.
  19. 20. On the play before the miss, while TT did get good yardage on that run it never should have been called as that run ate up the time it would have taken to run at least 2 pass plays plus the Giants were given us the short yardage passes. That is why I love to watch the games and not just the highlights. I mean if you just watch the highlights or the 30 minute Super Bowl highlight they show every year you would have thought that Jeff Wright made a clutch stop on 3rd down that held the Giants to a FG leaving us only 2 plus odd minutes to go 90 yards...NOT! After WATCHING the game on replay last night you'd see that play by Wright was made on 1st down and that after holding them to a FG there was 7 minutes left in the game and both teams exchange possesions. After we held the Giants and they punted we got the ball on the 10 yard line. I mean this plus other key drops, defensive stops, and penalties aren't realized by highlights alone.
  21. Notice I didn't include Winfield but a lot thought PW was overrated in that they got caught up in stats. While most agreed he was a good player, the fact he didn't get a lot of game changing sacks or tackles for loss he wasn't worth a big contract; some just called him Fat Pat and didn't realize how important he was to the D. If you could go back 3 years ago look at this board you'd see what I'm talking about.
  22. WHATEVER! Most on this board were happy to label them as OVER RATED and we got all the mileage out of them as almost every player we have who leaves is labeled as such. I mean RB was a penalty waiting to happen and that he was washed up; Big Pat was just big and fat! Thank god Moulds or Jennings haven't played at a Pro Bowl level for their respected teams or a lot of those who happily ran them out would be eating crow! A couple of years ago 90% on this board ran TH out of town for WM; it's funny to see how 90% few WM now. But if we run him and TKO out of town as a lot of posters hope wouldn't it be funny if 1-2 years later to see all those we should have kept them posts!
  23. If WM had run like he did 2 years ago or even ran for 1200 yds this season there wouldn't be as much criticism of him on or OFF the field. If he put up LT stats, NO ONE would care how many kids he had with different women as they did balls he carried into the end zone; you know like those who didn't care how many kids Moulds was producing as long as he was producing on the field!
  24. Having a PROPERLY constructed pre-nup that prevents your other half from taking half of what's rightly for yours: PRICELESS!
  25. That is just some BS to dis credit LF-B. I mean he has played great for us since he has been here. I mean the years we had 2 good run stuffing DT in front of him we were top in the league against the run! And even when the D hasn't played good overall he has been one of the few bright and consistent spots as he has been the heart and soul of our D! Now I wouldn't pay a 30 plus LB a big time contract but that being said don't just diss LF-B just for sake! This is just another example of fans on this board trying to find a reason to hate on player once there is a chance he is about to leave the organization. Unless you retire as a Bill or time has healed all wounds you will be regarded as over rated or going downhill on this board. If you want proof just look at the board 2 years ago when most ran TH out of town and proclaimed WM god; now some the same ones bash WM and wish we had kept TH even though TH has truthfully had only a few good stretches the past 2 years himself. I won't even mentioned those who thought Pat Williams was just fat, over rated and easily replaceable!
