Mangini will be a good HC but that might not be the case in 2006. If Mangini is smart, he'll do the same thing they did in New England in 2000 and take the salary cap hits while getting rid of some players whose contracts don't justify their roster spots. Tannenbaum and Bradway have probably already discussed this with Mangini. The Jets will do well if everyone is on the same page. That's something Mularkey wasn't going to get with the Bills.

Stop with the numbers with this guy. He's good for enough stupid plays in any given game to turn a win into a loss. He makes bad decisions - period. He doesn't go through his progressions, he locks on to receivers, and has poor pocket presence. Quarterback play in the NFL isn't about accumulating numbers. It's going out there and executing a game plan.

No he's not. Even if he has all day, he's not in the same league with the upper echelon quarterbacks (Brady, Manning, McNabb, Palmer) because he still makes some very bad decisions.

Every time Bledsoe has a good game, his defenders say, "see, I told you so". But if you look at the overall track record of Bledsoe, you find a guy who makes mistakes that ultimately kill you. That's not to say the Bills should have gotten rid of him while promoting a huge question mark who didn't exactly earn the starting job over Bledsoe.

Quinn will be better than Leinart. Of course, that might not be saying too much.

Herm Edwards is not a great coach. But I agree with him when he says, "you play to win the game". You go with the guy who has the best chance to win every week until you're out of it. Then you develop players. Maybe Mularkey believes Losman actually gives the Bills the best chance to win. Maybe this is Donahoe's call. It's a shame if they both think Holcomb is better and go with Losman anyway. Donahoe has retarded the quarterback position so much that he would would have been fired on many teams for it.

Parcells has done okay with Bledsoe in the past. Bledsoe just may be better off in Dallas than he was in New England (post Parcells) or with Buffalo.

The Colts were not even close to beating the Patriots in the AFC Champioinship Game. Big deal. Their recievers got whacked around a bit. The Panthers did the same thing in their march to the SB. In fact, the Parcells/Belichick Giants smacked the Bills around quite a bit in the "wide right" Super Bowl. That's the way the league was calling those plays until Bill Polian and Mike Martz started to whine. I would agree with you on your "close game theory" but Brady is undefeated in OT games and has an incredible record in games decided in the 4th quarter. They are a team built to win close games. They're tough, smart, and great situational players. You can deny it all you want. It's pathetic how some fans make light of the Patriots incredible run.

How are the Eagles looking to match that feat? They've been to one in a row. The Patriots have been to a couple in a row. But this is a different era with the salary cap in effect. That's what makes the Patriots three SB Championships in four years so great. That they win close games in the SB is what makes them great. They know how to win close games. They have Brady and Vinatieri. Those two are deadly with the game on the line. It's absolutely no accident or luck that the Patriots won those games. They are built to win - not to dominate. That explains their 34-4 record the last two years. It's simply a dominant record.

As a Patriots fan, I'm more comfortable with Green at $2 million per year than with Seymour at $8 million per year. The D-Line is already stacked with Wilfork, Warren, and Green. Bailey should be healthy and Hill and Kelley are the young guys to grow with. Paying an exhorbitant amount to one player when you have so much talent on the line is not the way to go. If Seymour agrees to take $6 million or less per year, he could stay. If not, he'll go the way of Bruce Armstrong, Lawyer Milloy, Ted Washington, Ty Law, among others.

Rename this thread, Sour Grapes, Buffalo Style. The Patriots are 34-4 in the last two seasons. Let's just say in the age of parity in the NFL that 34-4 is pretty good and leave it at that. The best thing about being a Pats fan is knowing the edge they have in every close game. It's the poise of Brady, the right leg of Vinatieri, the mind of Bill Belichick, and talent, character, and playmaking abilities on defense. I could care less about point differential or Peyton Manning's records. I just assume count Super Bowl titles. As Herm Edwards say, "You Play to Win the Game". The Bills will get no compensation if he becomes a free agent as the result of them waiving him. The only way they'll get anything is either by trade or if he plays out his contract at the end of 2005. No soup for you Tom Donahoe.

Were they supposed to pay him the $5 million in new money that he would have gotten? He was, at best, the fourth wide receiver (after Branch, Givens, and Patten) and a serviceable nickel back. If Brown wanted to stay at a reasonable salary ($1 million to $1.5 million), he would still be a Patriot today. That can still happen.

How does anyone here know that Losman, at best, isn't another Kyle Boller?

Losman is a huge question mark. If the Bills are going to cut ties with Bledsoe, they should give the job to Garcia in the same way the Giants did to Warner. But Garcia is better than Warner and might help the Bills put up some Ws while Losman is developing. What has Losman done to earn any starts?

Branch has better hands than Moulds and runs better routes. Branch's biggest problem is staying healthy. McCareins had a better season than Moulds too.

Why would he retire as a Bill? Makes no sense. The only reason he would do so would be his hate for Bill Belichick. Belichick's biggest crime was the foresight to see the greatness in Tom Brady.

Original post on this thread is right. Moulds play does not justify $8.5 million salary cap hit. They should make him re-do deal or cut him. That's the way business is done in the NFL. The Bills did it with Bledsoe last year and should do it with Moulds now. WR is not a position teams should spend $8 million on unless you're talking about a TO. Muhammad is just as good and is a FA this year and won't see anywhere close to $8 million. Moulds will probably renegotiate the deal.
