Oliver and Moss/Singletary for Kyle Fuller and Melvin Gordon.

That would be interesting. It’s also how the Pats operated during their dynasty. Get something back for a guy you’re not gonna re-sign.

Case Keenum to start for Browns on TNF

For the gamblers out there, I’m curious how the point spread changed after this announcement. Would love to know what player’s absence in NFL would result in biggest swing in point spread. -
penalties on kick returns - out of control
BuffaloRebound replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
I like it. And if NFL keeps trying to add more regular season games, it makes even more sense. Instead of wasting 53 man roster spots on guys who only play on punt and kick coverage, you can carry more guys who actually play on offense or defense. And a lot of injuries happen on punt and kick coverage plays. -
The problem with the 5th year option is it basically tethers a guy’s 1st round draft status to him for his whole career. The 5th year option number becomes the starting point for an extension and if a team declines the option, very rarely does a player re-sign with the team.

penalties on kick returns - out of control
BuffaloRebound replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
The only time it ever makes sense to put yourself in a position to hold is in pass protection. Sometimes a 10 yard penalty is better than getting your QB killed and potentially creating a turnover. Every other hold is stupidity and just hoping the ref doesn’t see it. The hold on McKenzie return was obvious and total lack of discipline. -
penalties on kick returns - out of control

There are so few big returns. You’d think special teams coaches would just tell the blockers to put their hands behind their backs. It’s not worth the effort. Which is probably why the Bills were kicking it short. No big returns and high probability of holding on the return team. Not sure how you can even block guys running at full speed coming from all over the field. -
Are we getting spoiled by how good Allen is?

He's the most talented QB in the game. Closest thing to Elway, who in my opinion was the most physically gifted QB I’ve ever seen. Hopefully it doesn’t take 15 years to put a Super Bowl winning team around him. -

Yes. Guilty as charged. Even the announcers are guilty. Josh can make any play you want him to make on the field. -
A few thoughts about the Titans game, in no particular order
BuffaloRebound replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
‘Micro-probability’ is fancy way to say that Head Coach can have the stat guy in his ear telling him the probability, but the Coach also has to use his eyes and realize those probabilities don’t compute with what’s happening in the game. I’m guessing it was taking Bills forever to decline or accept a couple penalties last night because McDermott was waiting on the probabilities to come in from that stat guy. -
We looked like a team not used to being in close games. Titans scratched and clawed to keep game close. Our upside is so much higher than Titans, but they found way to grind it out.

Yes. Points on that drive are worth as much as points on last drive. We could never get enough separation to force tannehill to be a drop-back passer. Points on that drive would’ve forced Tennessee to speed up their offense. Doesn’t trust Sweeney as much as Knox. Nice selective editing.
-
Knox being out the last 2 drives was huge. Josh clearly doesn’t trust Sweeney the same way he does Knox. It showed on the huge sack where Josh had Sweeney wide open but clearly thought twice throwing it to him. The 4th down stop was headliner but that sack was just as important.
-
I don’t know. Titans stuffed Josh on exact same play on the goal line in the 1st half. I like going for it. Don’t like the play call. Should’ve treated it more like going for 2 to win game. And you got added benefit if you roll Josh out that he doesn’t even have to get in end zone. Titans stuffed the same play and did it again.
-
Yep. I didn’t know it was possible for a man as large as Dawkins to get thrown into the backfield like that on a run play. Dude is not earning his money. His body fat % gotta be well north of 20%.
-
Agreed there. Epenesa would’ve helped if you only put him out there on 3rd and long alone. I would’ve put Rousseau back out there on clear passing situations too

Bills lost the game in the red zone
BuffaloRebound replied to Bubba Gump's topic in The Stadium Wall
This had a super bowl 25 feel. We left so many points on the field and were clearly the better team. Coming off a 50 point win against the raiders then and now 4 straight blow-outs, it’s feels like you’re losing when you’re in a tight game even when you’re ahead. We just didn’t play a disciplined football game last night. If we tighten things up, we win that game by 2 TD’s. -
Because we were so worried about Henry after the big run. Rousseau barely played after that and rightly so. We went with our better run stuffers the rest of the game.
-
The special teams penalties are inexcusable. That’s the sign of a poorly coached team.

What is up with Bass and no run up to kick off?
BuffaloRebound replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed. And for a team that’s been as sloppy on special teams this season as this team has, just kick the ball out of the end zone. -

That’s difference between a team that has Derrick Henry and a team that can’t run the ball.
