  1. Since it’s Gronk, 1 year $6.9m should get it done. Add in a voidable year so the cap hit this year is only $4.9m.
  2. Whoever gets paid $13m a year to basically be a large scarecrow. Dawkins rightfully was the magnet this year until his play drastically improved at end of year.
  3. The reason he’s making $12.7m this year is directly related to being a 1st round draft pick and making a Pro Bowl. And no agent is gonna accept anything less than that per year on a long term deal. So when people talk about him being a disappointment due to his draft status, it’s actually very relevant. He will have made $26m in his first 5 years in the league. If he was drafted in the 2nd round and didn’t make a pro bowl, we’re probably looking at $4m total in his first 4 years and a 2nd contract in the $6-8m per year range based on production.
  4. He should’ve said he’s a bleu cheese guy to hit the trifecta.
  5. Anthony Barr would be at least half the price. He fits the physical profile of Edmunds. I’m sure he can be taught to drop back and be in the right spots. If he makes a play, then we’re ahead of the game.
  6. “I’m not here to talk about the past”… doing his best Mark Mcgwire impression.
  7. Not exactly a ringing endorsement from Beane.
  8. I’d say $5m in investable money sets you and your family (3 kids or less) up for life without having to ever work again. Not sure why anybody would want their kids never to have to work. College and maybe a down payment on a house. More than that and your probably doing more harm than good.
  9. Seems like the Bills could gain $30m in cap space relatively pain free. That’s before even dealing with Edmunds $12.7m cap hit and Darryl Williams or Morse.
  10. Edmunds for Hunter straight up? Player for player trades are rare, but this would make a lot of sense for both teams.
  11. This is the main problem. The $12.7m option kills any chance of getting him for Milano money. And it’s $12.7m instead of $9m because he made the Pro Bowl. Pro Bowl alternate Josh Allen will tell you how much making the Pro Bowl means.
  12. He’s feeding the narrative that he’s a pouty baby and not a leader.
  13. Pretty sure all the players prefer grass. Kroenke already taking heat for not putting grass in his new multi-billion $ stadium.
  14. Between Milano, Hyde, Poyer, Tre White, and Taron Johnson in the Back 7, I think they could assimilate a rookie LB.
  15. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2022-nfl-free-agency-rankings-linebackers Every guy on this list would be significantly cheaper than Edmunds according to their projections. And there look to be 5-6 MLB’s projected to go in first 3 rounds.
  16. I think the argument is that you could still give up 500 yards and 40 points without committing another $12.7m to the defense especially to a guy who don’t make any big plays. You need guys on defense to make big plays (turnovers, sacks, TFL’s) in order to beat the better offenses. See Hyde int vs Patriots. That changed the entire game. Everything else is kinda spinning your wheels and you might as well spend it on offense. What good was having the #1 ranked defense vs the Chiefs the last 2 playoffs?
  17. I think this is the only way it gets sorted out. Give his agent permission to find a trade partner. Either the Bills are totally mis-using him or he’ll find the market is weak for a LB who doesn’t rush the passer, is weak versus the run, and doesn’t make any plays against the passing game. He’s big, fast, and drops into coverage well, but never makes any plays.
  18. You don’t need to trade multiple 1st round picks to get this team over the hump. Heck, committing long term money to Edmunds would probably be more detrimental than going all out to win a super bowl this year.
  19. I’d take Logan Wilson (3rd rounder in 2020) over Edmunds. Guy actually makes plays. There’s 5-6 MLB’s expected to go in top 3 rounds this year. In an ideal world, McBeane would flip Edmunds for a cheaper rookie and use that $12.7m towards an elite edge rusher.
  20. Not saying it’s gonna be the Bills, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Vikings trade Hunter in next few weeks. He’s got an $18m roster bonus due march 20. New coaching staff in Minnesota and they have zero cap room. I trade a 3rd rounder this year and next year for him.
  21. I agree. And I’m hopeful that McBeane surprises us with a premier edge rusher in free agency now that we’re a ring chasing destination. I’m also coming around to Jordan Davis in 1st round. I know NFL is pass-crazy but taking away teams ability to run the ball and making them 1 dimensional is an under-rated thing.
  22. You seems to be making the argument that money would be better spent on improving the D-Line than having 2 highly paid LB’s that don’t rush the passer. And I agree with that.
  23. A pass rush that gets home.
  24. I wonder what length teams go to protect their cap spreadsheet which has all their cut, re-structure and free agent projections? Somebody like Schoen probably knows everything the Bills are planning on doing this off-season.
  25. I think a trade for Barkley is more likely given the familiarity of the front offices. Beasley, Feliciano, Moss, and a 6th rounder for Barkley. Giants need to purge some bad contracts. They get 3 starters and a draft pick for basically same cap space as Barkley. Bills take a swing on a big play RB by trading 3 guys they were likely moving on from anyways.
