  1. I wonder what length teams go to protect their cap spreadsheet which has all their cut, re-structure and free agent projections? Somebody like Schoen probably knows everything the Bills are planning on doing this off-season.
  2. I think a trade for Barkley is more likely given the familiarity of the front offices. Beasley, Feliciano, Moss, and a 6th rounder for Barkley. Giants need to purge some bad contracts. They get 3 starters and a draft pick for basically same cap space as Barkley. Bills take a swing on a big play RB by trading 3 guys they were likely moving on from anyways.
  3. There’s no way he’s coming back if he’s making a decision this quickly. Dude loves the drama too much. Green Bay would be smart to trade him while they can.
  4. The odds of actually earning the non-guaranteed portion of your contract are exponentially higher on a team with a stable coach/QB situation. That is way more important than whether a guy gets 800 yards vs 1000 yards.
  5. Would you rather have Levi or Neal + Klein? Would you rather have Star + Edmunds or Chandler Jones? I’d love to bring back everyone but reality is every guy you sign means a guy that you can’t. Our window is right now and we will never be a hotter destination than we are this off-season.
  6. That’s what happens when you’re a legit Super Bowl contender. The opportunity cost of signing your own increases when you don’t have to over-pay free agents to come here.
  7. Fair enough. I’m just saying everything has an opportunity cost. As another poster above pointed out, these are uptown problems but recent Super Bowl winners seem to be built differently. More upper end guys and more guys on rookie deals contributing. Less mid-tier guys on their 2nd contract.
  8. But you can’t reward everybody right? Beane and McDermott have us in a great spot but it just seems like the teams who actually win Super Bowls have more of a mix of homegrown guys and outside free agents to get them over the hump.
  9. I don’t have a problem with the signing but at what point does Beane tell his coaches that they gotta coach up the young guys so we have the money for a guy or guys who can get us over hump? Other teams seem to make tough decisions with their own guys so they can bring in upgrades. Bills seem to never let anybody go.
  10. I’m not saying Beane is gonna go crazy in free agency, but it would be borderline negligent not to get rid of some bad contracts still on the books now that we are a legit super bowl contender and have a consensus top 5 QB. I think there’s room for a $10-11m per year guy like Kirk on offense and a vet edge guy at $15m like Chandler Jones.
  11. Agreed. NFL should’ve created a ‘Bird exception’ like NBA has and give teams the cap space back from the opt-out.
  12. His left arm looks like it got stuck in a machine below the elbow. Bizarre.
  13. I guess we gotta trust McBeane on this one. On the surface, a post June 1 release looks like a no brainer given Star’s lack of availability. But McBeane brought him here on a big contract, then doubled down on a re-structure. So unless his lack of availability the past 2 years altered their opinion of him, I assume he’ll be back.
  14. Can’t see Green Bay trading him to 49ers unless Bosa or Kittle are part of deal. 49ers don’t have 1st rounder until 2024.
  15. How much younger can we get at D End? Epenesa, Groot, and Basham are all we have right now. Signing a vet Edge is a must. If I had to guess, I’d say there’s a 85-90% chance our 1st round pick will be a DB or OL.
  16. Beasley has more value to a team without an established QB. It’s hard getting quality free agent WR’s to play for a Sam Darnold or Daniel Jones without significantly over-paying. And Beasley can still be a young QB’s best friend. I think he has more trade value than people think.
  17. If the price is Beasley plus a 3rd and a 5th, I make that deal. Bills would owe $8.6m in year 1 and none of the money is guaranteed. Worth the risk in my opinion.
  18. Answer to original question is not enough. Only thing Bills have that they’d trade Young for is Allen and that ain’t happening in a million years. The 25th pick and late 1st rounders for the foreseeable future ain’t gonna help Washington land a franchise QB.
  19. Goodell gonna be making $100m a year pretty soon as the human shield for these billionaires.
  20. ‘Protect’ also means cutting the designed QB runs in half. Josh had 2nd highest rushing attempts for QB behind Hurts. That can’t continue to happen. We are playing with fire and Beane knows it. I’m fine with more designed QB runs in playoffs, but we are taking years off his career if this continues. Our non-QB designed run game needs to improve going on 4 years now. A good blocking Tight End (Gronk) and a better RB1 and a commitment from the OC would go a long way.
  21. True, but I can’t see McBeane spending more on their 2 starting LB’s than their entire D Line. The D-Line was arguably the worst unit on the team by the end of the year. And they can’t keep using all their high picks on DL every year. Money has to be spent on the DL to make it better. And now Buffalo is a ring chasing destination.
  22. That’s almost $40m in cap off the books with Butler, Star, Addison, Hughes gone. I think McBeane takes a rare swing for the fences this off-season and brings in a Chandler Jones or Von Miller plus a vet DT like Calais Campbell or Suh. We have 4 high draft picks on the DL who are cost contained for the next 2 years. Everything is lined up to go big the next 1-2 years on the D Line in free agency before you gotta pay Oliver or one of our young Defensive Ends steps up their game and gets paid. Looking at your off-season primers for the defense, based on the cap numbers and age everything screams DL in free agency and a high draft pick in the secondary and possibly a high draft pick at LB
  23. Gronk’s cap hit was $3m last year. Suh’s was $3.2m. That’s basically a post June 1 Star release. I think people are being blinded by how the season ended. Running it back doesn’t mean we’re gonna hold on to a lead in last 13 seconds at KC and then go on to win the Super Bowl. We lose the game at Foxboro and we very easily could’ve missed the playoffs altogether. We need to get better. 1 year deals with ring chasing vets aren’t gonna put you in cap hell. And it won’t even cost you draft picks. We need a couple vets on both sides of ball who are ring focused to get us over the finish line.
  24. Agreed. We are young enough on the DL with Oliver, Groot, Basham, Epenesa still all on their rookie deals. Campbell on a 1 year deal is a no brainer. Then, I’d go after Von Miller. A line of Groot, Oliver, Campbell and Miller with the young guys as backups is Super Bowl quality. And you won’t have to commit long term money to Campbell or Miller. They will actually help the young guys develop.
  25. It’s time for Bills to grab some Super Bowl or bust vets to put us over the top. Campbell, Miller, Suh, Gronk, Fournette, Patterson. These guys will not cost draft picks and you will not have to commit long term contracts to them. Beane could easily sign 3-4 of the above by pushing some of their cap hit to year 2 and letting go from a pool of Star, Feliciano, Beasley or Edmunds.
