  1. The Bengals exposed the softness of this defense in both games. Was pathetic watching an offense physically manhandle a defense like that. Milano is really our only guy that consistently brings violence on every hit. Hamlin too before his unfortunate situation. Maybe they’re coached to think too much rather than seek and hit. Maybe there’s too many vets on that side of ball who’ve been paid and wanna walk away from the game without permanent injury. And all the injuries and the Hamlin episode certainly didn’t help in terms of getting the defense to play more physical.
  2. Let’s also not forget the wide open bomb that Waddle dropped on their opening series, which would’ve changed the complexion of the game.
  3. Yep. And anyone who believes this was anything other than McBeane doing Frazier a favor holding onto him until all the head coaching jobs were filled… I gotta bridge to sell you. McDermott knows this year is it. Maybe he’ll give Holcomb or the young guy Babich the DC title, but McDermott will be way more hands on. Beane made that clear in his presser.
  4. Beane seemed pretty on edge for him. Like he knows the work he’s got ahead of him. I like it.
  5. Exactly. And you ain’t ever gonna find out if you keep doing same thing.
  6. The organization has always treated Frazier like he’s the Buddha or something. From giving the defense every possible resource to the constant drumbeat of saying it’s a travesty he ain’t a head coach to this weird-ass way of firing/not firing him. Weird all the way around.
  7. Frazier news probably doesn’t bode well for an Edmunds return.
  8. Yeah. No way you tag him unless you somehow know who you’re trading him to.
  9. I mean you could make that argument against every guy on the defense. I’d like to re-allocate some capital towards the offense too, but is Edmunds, a 24 year old physical freak who had his best season last year, the right guy to draw a line in the sand on?
  10. I’m in the same place. People also conveniently gloss over that you’re most likely over-paying a free agent from another team and why is that team letting that guy go?
  11. I’d like to see a legit Tight End number 2 like Hayden Hurst and a power RB like Damien Harris brought in this off-season. It won’t cost a lot of money and will upgrade the physicality of the offense making us less 1 dimensional. Then I’d go IOL and WR with my first 2 picks. On defense, I’d bring back Edmunds, move on from Poyer, and sign Clowney to a 1 year deal for Von Miller insurance.
  12. Does it measure lateral side-to-side shuffling. That’s where Brown seems the weakest. You can have good straight line speed and not have good lateral quickness.
  13. If Mccaffrey went for a 2nd rounder, Tennessee would be lucky to get more than a 3rd rounder, most likely less than that.
  14. It looks like there will be a lot of veteran LB’s available. There’s talk of the Jets cutting Mosley too. None of these guys are as big and fast as Edmunds, but any drop off might be overcome by sacks, run stops, and turnovers generated by a replacement that Edmunds doesn’t currently produce.
  15. $10m for 1 year isn’t exorbitant. I’d love to get a power back with the ability to take it to the house.
  16. The fairest criticism is the high draft investment in RB’s who are JAG’s. Spend that 2nd rounder and two 3rd’s on O-Line or WR’s, and find serviceable RB’s later in the draft like every other team does and this offense is in way better shape. McBeane just keeps doubling down on drafting average RB’s with high picks.
  17. Why should he take less than Watson? I’m sure Hurts and Herbert are asking for the same thing.
  18. Impossible and idiotic. He’s still a top 5 WR. Josh and Diggs are the only reason we’re better than a .500 team. Anybody else on the roster besides those 2 is expendable. If Diggs wants to play with his brother in Dallas, then they can give us Parsons for Diggs. Short of that, it would take one of their O-Lineman plus their 2023 1st rounder.
  19. How does trading diggs help us get better? He’s our Kelce.
  20. Edmunds and Poyer are the only guys who aren’t JAG’s. The punter, Keenum and Lawson are the only guys I’d keep over a vet minimum guy or rookie. Phillips is an out of shape injury prone guy you can’t depend on.
  21. OBJ in free agency. Trade up for Skoronski in 1st round.
  22. I’d actually be for this if the price is right. OBJ can play and 18+ months removed from an ACL, he’ll still be a dynamic weapon with great hands. Then McBeane can focus on the OLine early in the draft.
  23. This coaching staff has gotta be extremely difficult to draft for. The defense prefers non-aggressive players in the back 7 and quantity over quality is preferred on the D-Line. On offense, we couldn’t find a place for an All-Pro Guard because his strength was run-blocking. And at RB, the guys who get on the field do so because of their pass blocking. There’s no physicality on any side of the ball except for our franchise QB. The teams who consistently draft well known what they’re looking for and have a certain type. Can really only say that about a McDermott team when it comes to the secondary. They know what they want there and can generally get it in the later rounds.
  24. The 2018 draft was elite. And yes, guys who go on to do well for another team count. It’s not the drafters fault if the coaching staff can’t figure out how to use good players. Same with losing guys in free agency. You can’t re-sign everybody.
  25. Evans had a lot of drops last year. He might be motivated to have a redemption year, but I think I’d rather roll the dice on OBJ 18 months removed from ACL surgery and keep Davis.
