  1. Why would the Bills spend a lot of money on a #2 WR? Edwards is a ball control QB. He needs a legit threat at TE and an excellent run game. Somehow, the Bills need to land a Tight End through a trade. Then I'd target Offensive Line in the 1st round of the draft (would love Andre Smith if he can get his head together).
  2. I would be surprised if the Bills take Orakpo given the amount of money Ralph has flushed down the drain on Williams and Dockery.
  3. McKelvin's cash number doesn't look right unless he got a $6m bonus this year.
  4. Probably just a belichik-style head game to push Cutler.
  5. I think it is about time the NFL went to a straight cash accounting system for salary cap purposes and did away with the accrual and amortization nonsense. All the amortization does is confuse fans and let teams play PR games with their fiscal situation. If the majority of teams are significantly under the cap and only care about yearly cash expense anyway, just wipe the slate clean and start keeping track of how much cash they are spending for salary cap purposes. Instead of signing bonuses, go to 2 or 3 year guaranteed contracts. This would greatly help every team not named Washington, Dallas, New England, and New York.
  6. Someone to help the pass rush is a must at #11, since pass rushers in free agency will command a ransom. Raji, Orakpo, and Brown seem like the most logical. Stafford, Curry, 2 of the OT's, Crabtree sound like they will definitely be taken top 10. It will get interesting if all 3 go top 10. I'd imagine that means the Bills would attempt to trade down then.
  7. Haynesworth and Maualuga with Stroud would be a beautiful thing.
  8. Trades for disgruntled players like Stroud are the way to go. Paying way above market value for the free agent Dockery's of the world gets you nowhere. Guys who want a change of scenery and are still under contract provide the best situation for the Bills because other teams don't fear sending good players to the Bills which limits the pool of teams and you don't have to over-pay for them to come to Buffalo since the player doesn't have many options.
  9. You really think Arizona will send him to another NFC team, especially a contender? I'm not saying he's interested in the Bills, but I think Arizona would rather see Boldin sit out than trade him to an NFC team.
  10. Assuming Schobel is back next year, is a smallish DE going to get much playing time? I don't know much about him, but Tyson Jackson from LSU sounds intriguing. A 290 lb DE who can push the pocket and even move inside on passing situations would make more sense if Schobel is in the Bills plans. I'll defer to those who follow LSU, but getting bigger and better at DE is a must.
  11. Arizona's secondary is putrid. Their kick returner is sub-par too. McGee plus a draft pick for Boldin????
  12. Is McGee worth what you could trade for him and Greer? Because if the Bills let Greer walk, you get nothing for him. With all the holes on this team, and Greer sounding like he wants to be here, I'd probably trade McGee for Greer and what you could get for him (say a top notch Tight End).
  13. The bottom line is Peters has a lot of value and for some reason or another the Bills haven't given him the money he wants. This will result in another holdout and him not playing to his potential. If the Bills aren't going to pay him, they might as well get some value for him. If Detroit is going to dole out $35m+ guaranteed to an unproven rookie QB, getting a Pro Bowl Left Tackle seems like a smart thing to do.
  14. It takes longer, but the draft is the way to go since it will be very hard finding good players who care about winning to come here. I know it opens another hole, but I could see Detroit having high interest in Peters to protect their huge investment in Stafford or Sanchez. They also have multiple picks in the 1st and 3rd round. Peters to Detroit for picks #20 and #33. Bills then get a starting caliber DE, DT, TE, C, and OT with their first 5 picks.
  15. Gresham looks pretty impressive tonight. He looks like he's got all the tools to be a dominant Tight End. Haven't been paying attention to his blocking but I assume that won't be a problem given his size and how he seems to like contact. I wouldn't be against getting a stud TE at #11.
  16. How about drafting Raji and copying the Pats/Ravens 3-4 model? Stroud, Raji, Johnson starting on the DL. Schobel in a Vrabel LB role. It would help if we coud sign another rush LB like Suggs. It would also make it easier to cut the useless combination of Kelsay and Denney. The fact that those 2 play alot is enough for me to scrap the 4-3. They are wasted players in that they are not great against the run and get no pass rush.
  17. Lynch and McKelvin. I don't know enough about offensive line play to put Peters on that list. Evans is also hard to grade with the QB situation. Same goes for Stroud because the defensive end play was the worst in the League.
  18. There is no way Polian would be content with Edwards at QB. Polian has always built around a franchise QB. If he liked Stafford or Bradford, he'd do what it takes to get them.
  19. The cap # is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is if the check Ralph receives from the NFL went up.
  20. If we are going to throw a curveball, I'd rather it be a QB. If Stafford doesn't go in the top 3 picks, there's a chance he could fall to us.
  21. I haven't seen updated cap numbers in a while, but the Bills are so far under the cap that they could probably cut whomever they want and still be under the cap. Ralph only seems to care about the yearly cash outlay at this point and dead money is simply an accounting charge whereas cutting them means real cash savings. It is amazing that Ralph won't cough up $5m or so to buyout Jauron, but is alright with ridiculous player contracts like Dockery and Kelsay. He truly runs a horrible organization. Cutting Dockery and Kelsay alone would pay for selling a home game to Toronto and bringing in a quality coach.
  22. How many Super Bowls do NE, Pitt, Balt, and Indy win without Brady, Roethlisberger, Lewis, and Manning? I know they were drafted, but the Bills can't seem to do that either. Get impact players anyway you can. Dallas, Washington, and Oakland are dysfunctional franchises. Over-spending is but one of their many issues. You can't blame their problems solely on over-paying but it works for Ralph.
  23. It means that we piss money away on mediocre players. A Haynesworth or Peppers means players of their ilk. Why not over-pay for true difference makers? If Tennessee offers Haynesworth $10m per year, offer him $13m per year. Let his agent know that the Bills will offer 25% more than anything Tennessee offers. It's just depressing to hear that we can't go after these type of players when so much money is currently wasted on average players.
  24. $26m for Schobel, Dockery, Kelsay, and Walker. And we don't have the money for a Haynesworth or Peppers? You almost have to root for a 2-14 type horrible year so Ralph has no choice but to clean house next year.
