Agreed on Clausen. Came off immature and uncomfortable. Don't think he is talented enough to get away with that in an NFL locker room. I also don't think he would have got away with that at a USC, Texas, or Florida either. Street/toughness factor is lacking at Notre Dame and I think he is in for a rude awakening in the NFL.

Big Ben - Pitt Listening to Offers

Wow. Roethlisberger is a piece of garbage. If I was that girl's father, I'd take a baseball bat to his knees and handle the suspension myself. -
Some Wonderlic Scores From TSN's War Room
BuffaloRebound replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At least he won't be retiring at age 26 to be a teacher. Don't think it takes much book smarts to be a running back. -
Assuming St Louis takes Bradford, that leaves 7 teams before the Bills. 3 arguably have a franchise QB or have invested a lot in a QB the last year (Detroit, KC, Tampa). That means 4 teams in need of a QB would have to pass on Clausen. If he's that good, he doesn't get past those 4 teams. If he does, that means Shanahan (basically already passed by taking McNabb), Carroll (who recruited him in high school and played him every year), Holmgren (known as a QB guru), and the Raiders didn't think he was a franchise QB. Basically, if he's deserving, Clausen won't be there at 9.

How about Vick, Spiller, and Gaither? And you still have all your draft picks from the 3rd round and beyond.
-
I don't see how the Bills draft him at #9 and keep Kyle Williams. If he's the 9th pick, he better be playing the majority of the snaps.

It's more than just the offensive line and QB. The entire offense sucks. Fred Jackson was the only guy who could do anything, but he's not a home run threat. Evans is one-dimensional. Nelson has some potential at TE. Playmakers at WR and RB are as big of a need as QB and OT. If Spiller is the best player available at #9, pull the trigger. -
What do you want the Bills to do with the #9 PICK?
BuffaloRebound replied to toddgurley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm starting to come around to this. Kindle, Pierre-Paul, Graham, kid from GT. We should have the pick of all of them. Historically, 9th pick seems to be in the sweet spot range for pass rushers...Freeney, Demarcus Ware, Merriman. Pierre-Paul is pretty intriguing. Kid is an athletic freak. I know he's only played 1 year, but he'd probably be a top 5 pick otherwise. This is where having a guy in charge with Nix's experience should help. I'm sure he'll be highly skeptical and cover all bases with a guy like Pierre-Paul. -
what's wrong with claussen?
BuffaloRebound replied to theranter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just don't think Claussen and Buffalo are a good match. Not really an indictment of his playing ability, just don't think he'd take to Buffalo and vice versa. Tebow who be perfect if he could throw. -
How would Bruce Smith have fared in a 4-3 setup
BuffaloRebound replied to JimKelly12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with this. Bruce lined up over the Center a lot in passing situations and took advantage of his ridiculous 1st step. I also remember Bruce lining up wherever he thought the weak link on the offensive line was. There were many times when he wanted no part of Munoz or Richmond Webb and lined up somewhere else. Can't really do that in a 4 man front. It was a lot easier to shove Jeff Wright to a different gap. -
If Shanahan and Holmgren don't want Claussen, I don't know why the Bills would. He doesn't strike as a Buffalo kind of guy either. I have no problems with a trade for Campbell, OT/DT in Round 1 and Tebow in Round 2. Campbell is the starter and use Tebow as a halfback and short yardage/goal line QB.
-
I'd rather gamble on Tebow than the 3rd or 4th best OT. Nothing is a sure bet, and if Nix/Gailey believe in Tebow, pull the trigger. At worst, he'd be an excellent halfback and short yardage QB for the 1st two years. Maybe trade down a few spots, pick up at least another 3rd rounder, and take Tebow. The 3rd or 4th best OT isn't turning this franchise around.

Interesting Trade Rumor that could affect us
BuffaloRebound replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
4.) I think Spiller becomes the target of a lot of teams after the first 6-7 picks, where the contracts are too big for RB's. Raiders already have a bunch of backs and a similar and high-priced player in McFadden. Lots of internet chatter that Bills are interested in Spiller. -
I agree with most of this post, but why be so quick to give up our 2nd rounder? The Eagles have to get rid of McNabb now. McNabb also has no incentive to sign an extension with the team he is traded too, especially with us or the Raiders. Rent him for a year for a 2011 conditional 3rd rounder that could climb to a 2nd or 1st rounder if we make the Super Bowl.

McNabb to the Bills for Picks?
BuffaloRebound replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills definitely in a good position. Sometimes patience pays off. Eagles are handling this horribly. -
McNabb to the Bills for Picks?
BuffaloRebound replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like this idea a lot. Bills are not in a position to give up a lot of draft picks, but if we still had a pick in the 1st 3 rounds and got McNabb, then we're immediately better but still able to build for the future. -
Clausen if we trade down to 20 or 21
BuffaloRebound replied to billsfansince1964's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gil Brandt says it is highly probable Claussen goes in top 5 picks. I'd rather Spiller than the 4th best OT, but I'd rather trade down if there is no QB worthy of the 9th pick. -
Bills want QBs sorted out by draft
BuffaloRebound replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So we need a starting LT, QB, pass rusher, and Nose Tackle from this draft? At some point, they have to try to move players that we don't need like Whitner or players who don't fit the scheme like Kyle Williams for players who do and can plug holes. -
Gailey denies Whitner is being shopped
BuffaloRebound replied to In-A-Gadda-Levitre's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If most of the money on the original deal has already been paid to Whitner, then he might not be that expensive. His salary cap number is meaningless, even moreso now that there is no cap. Same goes for other vets like Kelsay. It would be interesting to know what is owed guys like Whitner, Kelsay, Stroud, and Parrish this year. If Whitner is getting paid $2m this year, he might be worth it. Roscoe at $1.5m might be worth it too. -
Bills can't afford to give up draft picks. Picks are too important to a low revenue team that can't attract free agents without grossly over-paying them. However, we do have a valuable 4-3 asset in Kyle Williams, and Detroit also needs DB's, which we actually have quite a lot of.
