Official Trent Edwards Excuse Thread...
BuffaloRebound replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Losman made Edwards look better than he is. Teams have caught on to make Edwards beat them down the field. Unless he makes teams pay for doing it, it's gonna be another long and boring season. -
The Bills could have cut Kelsay and Schoebel
BuffaloRebound replied to jwws9999's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why? That's money that could go to somebody else. It could also go to buying out Jauron's contract or maybe towards not selling out a home game to Toronto. I guess it is a function of having an owner who is constantly reminding everyone how difficult it is to compete in Buffalo, and then you have guys like Schobel getting paid like premier players when they are not. -
Why Bills struggle against 3-4 defenses...
BuffaloRebound replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
8 guys in coverage + midget, alligator-armed WR's + a QB who doesn't have a big arm + Centers who get destroyed by big Nose Tackles = bad things -

I can only speak for myself, but I think it comes from frustration with what he gets paid and the perception that all the losing doesn't bother him. -
Is it time to think about looking for a new QB
BuffaloRebound replied to flomoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The jury is still out on Edwards, but he is showing a lack of confidence in his arm strength and/or his WR's. It almost looks like he checks down too fast because he is afraid of making certain throws. Evans, Reed, Parrish, and Schouman not being big targets contributes to this I think. Obviously, a healthy Owens could make a difference, but so could Johnson winning the #3 spot and Nelson getting more playing time. Give Edwards some big targets and I think he can be effective. -
I don't see how the coaches can watch the game film from yesterday and think they have any chance of having a winning record. Good teams don't get man-handled like that ever. Ellison is a safety playing LB. Our defensive lineman look like they are playing in a phone booth. Whitner is not a play-maker. He's not a ball-hawk and not an intimidating presence in the secondary. At least Scott has good size and is aggressive. The problem is that the coaching staff has to win this year, but they should be going with the rookies/young guys and rebuilding.

Holy crap were they as bad as the box-score looks
BuffaloRebound replied to sharper802's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A loser's mentality reeks from those comments. Where is the competitive fire? The starters got man-handled and embarrassed. Get mad at something. If my coaches just sent me out to a slaughter, I think I'd be a little more upset. -
Positives from last night's game
BuffaloRebound replied to Captain Caveman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree but part of that is because they are playing for jobs and the starters aren't, even though 75% of the starters should be. -
Kelsay and Schobel are f'in losers. You can throw Denney in there too. These guys have played almost all the snaps at Defensive End the last 6 years and the pass rush has been miserable the entire time. Time for some new blood.

Official game day thread - Bills vs. Packers
BuffaloRebound replied to SuperBills12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Ralph were smart, he'd cut Whitner, Schobel, Denny, Kelsay, Walker and Reed. We'd still go 7-9 and he'd pocket an additional $20-25m. -

He's gotta improve his 2-hand-touch skills first. It is frustrating watching a soft, under-sized team year after year. -

It's a function of his arm strength and our midget WR's. Edwards is not a QB who can thread the needle. Owens is this offense's only hope. If Owens stays healthy, he is going to have a huge year. -

What Free Agent interested in winning would come to the Bills? We have become the NFL welfare team subsidized by revenue sharing, where players, coaches, the front office and the owner collect their millions and put up a half-hearted effort to be competitive. -
Will UFL Effect NFL Practice Squads?
BuffaloRebound replied to mousetrap08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know what the UFL pays and what the practice squad pays, but i think the only effect it would have is raising the practice squad pay if the UFL pay is significantly higher. -
What is this guy gonna ask for if he actually does something?

Nic Harris played with first team?
BuffaloRebound replied to Lenigmusx's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kelsay needs to go. He is a 300 lb DT in a 260 lb body. He's too stiff to play End. Denny is a better athlete. Schobel, Denny, Ellis, Maybin, and Bryan if you keep a 5th DE. -
Could not agree more. I don't condone Crabtree's holdout, but at least the guy dominated the college level for the 2 years he played. The problem lies in Maybin and his agent thinking their situation has anything to do with Crabtree's. If the 1st round was structured like free agency, Crabtree most likely would have commanded a lot more money than Maybin. Take a little more than Orakpo and what McKelvin got, be happy cause that's way more than a guy who is all about upside is worth, and start playing football.
-
Maybin's hold-out is ridiculous. At least Crabtree dominated the college level for 2 years and was regarded by many people as a top 5 pick. Maybin should have been happy to get a little more than Orakpo. If the NFL and the Union can't agree on some kind of pre-determined salary for draft picks, just get rid of the 1st round of the draft and let each team sign one college player... kind of like a free agency 1st round, then start the draft with the 2nd round.
-
I doubt we'll ever know if the Bills tried to get Vick. Why deal with the fall-out if Vick chooses someone else? It was in every team's interest to deny interest in Vick until he actually signed with your team.

[closed]Rumor: Vick visited Buffalo
BuffaloRebound replied to Mopreme's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If that's true, he will be a Bill. Dallas is probably the worst choice for a guy who needs to lay low and rebuild his image/career. -
I was thinking the same thing watching the game Sunday. Our entire DL cannot beat anyone to the QB. What is the point of paying Kelsay and Denny millions when the Bills could just get some 300lb guy to play the run more effectively? Put McCargo and Johnson at DE. They are bigger and basically can't do any worse generating pressure.
-
I think Jauron lacks the competitive 'fire' of a guy like Fisher. That's what drives me crazy. If Fisher embarrasses my team like that in the 1st pre-season game, I'm telling my team to go kick some a$$. That guy is laughing over on the other sidelines at us. There's a difference between controlling your emotions and actually allowing yourself to have any.
-
Ellison and McKelvin are allergic to contact. I guess you can live with a CB who makes plays being like that, but New England will throw those short WR screens all day on McKelvin's side because he can't shed blocks and isn't a good tackler. Ellison probably looks great in Jauron's no-contact OTA's and Training Camp, but too bad Sundays require contact.
-
I'll add... 8. MCKELVIN SCARES ME AT CB - COLLINS WAS PICKING ON HIM THE ENTIRE TIME. 9. PASS RUSH CONTINUES TO BE A MAJOR PROBLEM
-
Good point about the Bills not being physical. Ellison would be a 2-hand-touch All-Pro. Too bad it's a physical game on Sundays. I really hope Harris can beat him out. The guy made plays in college and continues to do so.
