Good for him. I assume his goal is to play in the NFL. Just think this raises major questions about him. If he doesn't dominate next year, his stock can only fall.
-
Agree. This decision makes him look like a pu$$y. If scouts are telling him he's a top 5-10 pick, what does he know that they don't?

Jake Locker - might be staying in school
BuffaloRebound replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good article. Only Locker himself knows if he is ready. But once he knows if he grades out as top 5-10 pick, I think it is very hard to pass up that kind of money and the challenge of the NFL. Then there are more questions than answers for scouts. Is he afraid/not confident enough? Does he like the college lifestyle too much? I think that you don't bother getting an evaluation from the Advisory Board if you are going to stay. It can only hurt you if don't leave when you grade out as a top pick. -
IMOI, my thoughts on Draft...
BuffaloRebound replied to Craiger93's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we are drafting in the top 5-6 picks, it better be a QB, OT, or Defensive Lineman/LB who can get after the QB. We have nothing at those positions, and they are the most important. -
It's Official, Clausen Entering The Draft
BuffaloRebound replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Claussen and Bradford probably aren't getting past Cleveland and St. Louis. And if they do, then I don't want them at pick #5 or pick #7. Brohm was a nice pickup to avoid wasting a pick in the 2nd or 3rd round on a QB this year. Unless Locker declares and has franchise talent, I don't see the Bills drafting a QB this year. -
How to FIX the RUN DEFENSE
BuffaloRebound replied to toddgurley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like the idea of a huge run stuffer in the middle and Cody looked good yesterday, but the worst case scenario is that he eats himself out the NFL like Mike Williams. You have to worry about a guy who is that fat already. Hand him $10-15m guaranteed, and that's a lot of trips to Burger King. I like his teammate McClain a lot. That guy on Florida who can run the 100m in 10 flat couldn't beat him to the sideline. And the guy weighs 255 pounds. -
I like Tebow but it was interesting seeing him play against a team that had as much talent as Florida does. I think Tebow can make it in the NFL. He showed that he needs work on his accuracy, but has pretty good arm strength. I wouldn't hesitate on taking him if he lasts until the 2nd round.

This is probably the first year in a while where the 1st pick overall will be coveted. Suh's strength is ridiculous. Once he gets his hands on you, it's over. Reminds me more of Reggie White than Bruce. His bull rush is unstoppable. Cody from Alabama looked pretty impressive today too. Gotta worry about the guy eating his way out of the NFL, but you can't win without guys dominating the Line of Scrimmage and that's what he does.

What Is Most Amazing To Me About This Game
BuffaloRebound replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Forced 7 punts and got the offense the ball back at the end of the game. Not saying the defense played well, but they kept us in the game. -
And the sad thing is Fletcher was not re-signed because he was too small. Now we have safeties playing LB.

The wildcat call on 2nd and goal from the 10 was brutal. Don't have a problem running in that situation, but not when you are telling them you are running. And putting Fitzgerald behind center and faking a hand-off with 2 minutes and change left with no timeouts was not smart. Jets weren't fooled and just gave more time for their D-Linemen to meet Fitzgerald in the backfield.

What Is Most Amazing To Me About This Game
BuffaloRebound replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Our defenders look like midgets compared to the Jets O-Line. The defense played their butts off though. Had no business being in this game. The offense was simply brutal. 194 total yards on 50 plays and 25 minutes Time of Possession. Take away the Lynch 35 yard run and Evans 38 yard bomb, and they had 48 plays for 123 yards or 2.5 yards per play. -
OFFICIAL BILLS VS. JETS @ TORONTO THREAD.
BuffaloRebound replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What was Van Pelt thinking putting Fitzpatrick under center on 1st down? Jets really fell for the play action when the Bills had to travel 80 yards with no timeouts in 2 minutes. Embarrassing offensive effort. -

Agreed. Gotta take chances and dare Clemens to beat them. -

Just a matter of time now. Offense not doing anything and defense can't stop the run. Gonna need a turnover or some bad Jets play-calling. -

Nice love-tap on Sanchez, Poz. -
Did you enjoy your first Bills game?
BuffaloRebound replied to BillsfaninFl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Season opener in 1986 against the Jets. Kelly's 1st game. Kelly kept tripping over Hull's feet. Exciting game, but couldn't get the ball back for the offense. Don't remember his stats but couldn't stop Al Toon. -
My guess is there is going to be a sweet spot in Round 1 where the blue-chippers are gone and it makes sense to take Tebow. I don't know where that is in this draft, but how is taking a chance on Maybin any better than taking a chance on a guy like Tebow? There is more to talent evaluation than just physical skills which Tebow has plenty of.

Pike knows how to play the game, but I don't think he'd last 6 games much less 16 in the NFL. He is built like a tooth-pick. Roethlisberger is built like a D-Lineman.

Be careful what you wish for, Bills fans
BuffaloRebound replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Excellent post. When you think you are part of a 2nd rate team/organization, you inevitably play like one and other teams expect to beat you. Shanahan or someone like him who has won in the NFL is needed to provide credibility around the League and within the organization itself. -
This is pathetic. Why even call Cowher before you know if he is interested? It would be pretty easy to find out... the NFL is a small world. Shared agents, former players, coaches. How hard would it be to float the question before an 'official' phone call is made? This tells me that this search is a charade. Ralph and Brandon probably were caught off guard that Shanahan even agreed to an interview.

Big name coaches need to be courted
BuffaloRebound replied to HelloNewman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why do we know everyone the Bills are contacting? Something smells fishy. It's hard not to think this is all just an exercise to show the Bills faithful that Ralph tried to get a big fish and ended up with a minnow. -
Fred Smerlas beating up kids?
BuffaloRebound replied to Wilson from Gamehendge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Haha. Wouldn't surprise me. I have vivid childhood memories of listening to the Smerlas/Haslett show on WBEN in the mid-80's. Every week a caller would say they were a bunch of bums (these were the 2-14 years) and Smerlas would go crazy and get all tough asking the guy where he lived.
