McNabb to the Bills for Picks?
BuffaloRebound replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like this idea a lot. Bills are not in a position to give up a lot of draft picks, but if we still had a pick in the 1st 3 rounds and got McNabb, then we're immediately better but still able to build for the future. -
Clausen if we trade down to 20 or 21
BuffaloRebound replied to billsfansince1964's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gil Brandt says it is highly probable Claussen goes in top 5 picks. I'd rather Spiller than the 4th best OT, but I'd rather trade down if there is no QB worthy of the 9th pick. -
Bills want QBs sorted out by draft
BuffaloRebound replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So we need a starting LT, QB, pass rusher, and Nose Tackle from this draft? At some point, they have to try to move players that we don't need like Whitner or players who don't fit the scheme like Kyle Williams for players who do and can plug holes. -
Gailey denies Whitner is being shopped
BuffaloRebound replied to In-A-Gadda-Levitre's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If most of the money on the original deal has already been paid to Whitner, then he might not be that expensive. His salary cap number is meaningless, even moreso now that there is no cap. Same goes for other vets like Kelsay. It would be interesting to know what is owed guys like Whitner, Kelsay, Stroud, and Parrish this year. If Whitner is getting paid $2m this year, he might be worth it. Roscoe at $1.5m might be worth it too. -
Bills can't afford to give up draft picks. Picks are too important to a low revenue team that can't attract free agents without grossly over-paying them. However, we do have a valuable 4-3 asset in Kyle Williams, and Detroit also needs DB's, which we actually have quite a lot of.

Good. The #9 pick, Kyle Williams, and McKelvin to Detroit for Suh or McCoy.

Jim Schwartz and the Lions are dominating Free Agency
BuffaloRebound replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Williams had a pretty big contract if I remember. Burleson, Vanden Bosch as well. STafford and Calvin Johnson are making huge money. Maybe the Lions have a deal in place to trade the #2 pick. Otherwise, that's a lot of money for a team in a depressed area to be throwing around. -
Franchise QB is the only thing....
BuffaloRebound replied to Buffalonian-at-Heart's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll also add that the Bills have rarely been a well-run organization and will never be a popular place for free agents. A franchise QB can mask a lot of those problems. Nothing else really can. -
Pick #9 is kind of no man's land for a rebuilding franchise. Aren't going to get an elite player at a premier position (QB, LT, Pass Rusher). If Bradford is the guy, I fully support going up to #2 to get him. Otherwise, try to trade down and rebuild with more picks.

how much you wanna bet our beloved yet buffonish
BuffaloRebound replied to HelloNewman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Take Davis out of there, and I agree with that list. No thanks to an Offensive Lineman with a questionable work ethic. -
Haven't watched enough of Campbell to have an informed opinion on him, but I support going after a veteran QB via player trade (Whitner) and drafting a starting caliber OT with the 1st pick. The Dolphins 2 years ago proved this can be a winning formula. I believe they also switched to a 3-4 defense that year as well.

Select any NFL player for the Bills other then QB
BuffaloRebound replied to gladiator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ray Lewis. He'd scare the losers out of the locker room.. -
Who walks away from $2m+ a year at age 26 to go into politics? I doubt he's running for any kind of elected office and one can only assume a 26 year old with no professional experience will be a pee-on for some congressman. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't the 8th cut from yesterday and decided to go out on his own terms and the Bills gave him the courtesy.

Would love to have McNabb. But there's no way the Eagles trade him for anything less than a 1st rounder, and the Bills aren't in a position to part with a 1st rounder for a 33 year old QB with a lot of mileage on him.

Report: Bills one of 3 going for McNabb
BuffaloRebound replied to shaker4187's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We need a QB more than anything else and if we can get McNabb, that is great. I just wouldn't give up a 1st or 2nd rounder for him. I'd rather trade players and a lower round pick. Perhaps the Eagles would have interest in Whitner or Schobel. -
This Was Super Bowl 25 Revisted
BuffaloRebound replied to BillsNYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Payton coached a good game, but Saints were the better team. Brees is close to Manning's equal and Saints looked better everywhere esle. Colts had no pass rush and couldn't cover the Saints WR's. -
This Was Super Bowl 25 Revisted

I agree. One team just seemed to want it more and was playing for more. The onside kick was a 50-50 ball and the hungrier team came away with it. -
Softest/Least Agile Bills Ever

Dockery and Mike Williams. Can't believe the Redskins put those 2 on the field together. -
If Frazier is the next Bills coach/Vikings Lose
BuffaloRebound replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pathetic but true. Whoever is leading the coaching search needs to be shown the door. How hard is it to find out someone's interest before officially asking for an interview? It's just common sense. I've never heard someone turn down an interview for a head gig unless it was a minority candidate. That's because no other organization is dumb enough to ask for an interview from someone who might turn down the interview. Even the Raiders aren't this dumb. -
If Ralph spent half as much energy putting a winning team on the field as he does crying poor about revenue sharing, we wouldn't have missed the playoffs the last 10 years. Must be nice to be canonized for keeping a team in Buffalo, all the while making upwards of a billion dollars doing so. Ralph has the easiest job in the world. Keep putting a garbage product on the field, cry poor while collecting $30-40m in profits every year, then remind the low self-esteemed people in WNY how lucky they are to still have a team. Anybody ever think the real reason he has no public succession plan is once the people of WNY realize the team isn't moving anywhere, Ralph might actually have some pressure to put a winner on the field.

I thought Marty Schottenheimer was the only realistic 'name' coach Bills had a shot at. I'd take his kid, especially if Marty is involved in some capacity... defensive coordinator, asst head coach, etc. I really hope the Jets lose this weekend. The longer this goes, the more stale and unattractive the Bills job becomes than it already is.

Maybe Brian Scottenheimer Would Be Legit Here

I like the fact that he knows the AFC East. Playing Belichik twice a year can expose many a coach. -
Wilson updates AP on Bills coaching search
BuffaloRebound replied to Delete This Account's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It would be easy for Cowher to come out and say he's not interested in Bills job and put all this to bed. Most likely scenario is Cowher using Bills as leverage for a yet-to-be-open job. Makes it difficult for any other big name like Schottenhiemer the elder or Billick to swallow their pride and be Buffalo's 2nd choice. -
As a result of playoff loses this weekend,
BuffaloRebound replied to Ed_Formerly_of_Roch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Reid was given a 3 year extension last month. Phillips is the only coach in danger. Can't remember an off-season with less coaching changes? If Bills can't find a quality head coach now, they never will.
